The first time when I truly came to know Christ in my heart one of my biggest questions starting off was "Will I ever find the wife of my dreams?" I went HARD into researching what answer the Bible would provide. And boy that answer was resounding YES. Even if I don't meet her in this life, I know and trust that God will introduce us to each other in his glorious kingdom. At the same time, God had given me that grand epiphany that the meaning of life was marriage. An eternal union with God, with my future spouse, and with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Almighty. Oh Ethan, I hear you! I'm only just getting to know the meaning and depth of Christ as OUR husband and US as His bride... it's OK, that yearning and knowledge exists to teach the younger ones wisdom while we live - and God will provide according to our needs (those being the ones that will glorify Him most) - in that, and the hope in eternal grace, we bow our knee :)
I struggle with the concept that God has a plan for me, that I have a part to play other than that of a brick in the wall that is the same as any other brick, and could be easily replaced by another brick. When a brick layer chooses a brick to lay he just picks one up from the pile, any brick that is rectangular will do. Sometimes he needs a specific brick color or shape for windows or corners, those bricks are made separately from the rest and with different ingredients to get the colors. God is the brick layer, most of us are rectangular bricks, sometimes God needs a specific kind of brick so he chooses one of us and forms in to the specific shape he wants - people like Elijah, Jehu, Paul, etc. What I struggle with is that either I have an over inflated estimation of my gifts and talents or that it seems to me I have gifts and talents and the will to use them but not the opportunities. Add to that the normal suffering in life and I start to wonder what it's all about. Puzzle or wall?

What I think is that God veils itself as Man and as Woman for Love (Genesis 2:18). If both Genders could understand this it would be heaven on earth. In my personal opinion, we lost something valuable when we ceased to impart the moral teachings of the Gospel to our children. The stories in the Bible carry profound truths that can guide us through life's trials and tribulations. I propose the idea of choosing a life partner who shares your faith. If you are a Christian and embrace the words of Jesus, especially "Love each day anew," seek a partner who resonates with the same beliefs. This alignment will enable you both to draw strength from a shared spiritual foundation during challenging times.

Can someone please help because I'm struggling with learning God's word about the the I actually feel like I'm making progress and the Bible is revealing itself to me along comes a passage that pulls the rug out underneath me making me question if I'm authentic or self deceived.
Think of it like this.. every day you pass by a large painters canvas and every day a small splotch of color appears seemingly at random locations on the canvas. It looks like a jumbled mess. But over time, maybe decades, you begin to see a pattern emerge. The pattern gets more and more detailed until finally you can see what the painting will be. That’s kind of what following God is like to a new Christian, you can’t understand what’s happening and you begin to question “will a pattern ever emerge?” I can tell you that the things you question are where your lack of faith resides - God will chip away at those areas and fundamentally change the essence of who you are - and as He chips away the painting starts to come in to focus.

Dude, I struggle with the same issue, you're not the only one. You can feel the temptation coming, you need to learn to flee from the situation and start praying as soon as you can. It's spiritual warfare, these are single battles in a wider war that has already been won. Also, don't go by your feelings, go by the facts of who you are in Christ. You're going to fail and you're going to fall. Your salvation is not based on your behavior or performance, it's based on what Jesus accomplished 2000 years before you were ever born. The moment he died for your sins, all of your sins were future tense, there is no sin you can commit that hasn't already been paid for (not saying you have a license sin whenever you want). Lastly, the fact that it's bothering you is a very good sign that the Spirit is at work in your heart. An unsaved person doesn't care or worry about it, it's as natural as drinking water to them.

Pastor John routinely turns a 5 word answer into a 5000 word answer with a lot of emotion. I'd be lying to say I preferred this style. But I just assume God is working through him to impact someone else. I truly want to just provide some constructive criticism.
In keeping with the spirit of constructive criticism, if he gave that 5 word answer, then you would have the 'steak and potatos' of the message and would be free to go on about your life the way you always have. The emotional aspect of what he says is similar to how Jesus addressed people in the gospels. If Jesus never provided any parables or added emotion to His words, then how would we be able to apply it to our life? Yes, your perspective seems to be, 'get to the point already'. But, just maybe, the emotion is what YOU need. Maybe the resistance towards it is a room you should investigate.

In the era of the New Covenant, the Law of Moses has been superseded by the Law of Christ (Gal 3:23-26; 6:2). I think of it like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. The caterpillar that is the Law of Moses has transformed into the butterfly that is the Law of Christ. So the commandments of God continue, but not exactly as they were in Old Covenant times.
@@kimrice6978 I don't know of any texts in the Tanakh that prophesy this specifically. However, the Tanakh does prophesy of the coming of a Prophet like Moses (Deut 18:18-19). In this passage God says that this Prophet will tell people everything that God commands him. This most naturally implies that this Prophet will reveal new things. I would suggest that this Prophet is Jesus of Nazareth, and that one of the new things he has taught is that with the coming of Jesus the Law of Moses is now fulfilled.

(2) 'From among their brothers' doesn't have to mean from among the Israelites at the time. It could more loosely be referring to Jewish people generally of many generations. (3) The fact that Jesus is not mentioned is hardly any evidence that the text is not referring to Jesus, for the simple reason that no name is given at all, but the Prophet in view had to have a name! Being a Christian has finally helped me deal with this question, which I couldn't handle when I was a non-believer.
When I was a non-believer and growing up, I used to have a constant existential crisis. It is really depressing, I don't want to think about it so I distracted myself through whatever indulgences.
It is impossible to "embrace" this, that is a big lie.
"Something inside your soul is begging 'why?' what gain is it all?"
There comes a point to me that this question cannot be avoided no longer, that nothing else works anymore....

I struggle with the concept that God has a plan for me, that I have a part to play other than that of a brick in the wall that is the same as any other brick, and could be easily replaced by another brick. When a brick layer chooses a brick to lay he just picks one up from the pile, any brick that is rectangular will do. Sometimes he needs a specific brick color or shape for windows or corners, those bricks are made separately from the rest and with different ingredients to get the colors. God is the brick layer, most of us are rectangular bricks, sometimes God needs a specific kind of brick so he chooses one of us and forms in to the specific shape he wants - people like Elijah, Jehu, Paul, etc. What I struggle with is that either I have an over inflated estimation of my gifts and talents or that it seems to me I have gifts and talents and the will to use them but not the opportunities. Add to that the normal suffering in life and I start to wonder what it's all about. Puzzle or wall?

What I think is that God veils itself as Man and as Woman for Love (Genesis 2:18). If both Genders could understand this it would be heaven on earth.
In my personal opinion, we lost something valuable when we ceased to impart the moral teachings of the Gospel to our children. The stories in the Bible carry profound truths that can guide us through life's trials and tribulations. I propose the idea of choosing a life partner who shares your faith. If you are a Christian and embrace the words of Jesus, especially "Love each day anew," seek a partner who resonates with the same beliefs. Can someone please help because I'm struggling with learning God's word about the the I actually feel like I'm making progress and the Bible is revealing itself to me along comes a passage that pulls the rug out underneath me making me question if I'm authentic or self deceived.
Think of it like this.. every day you pass by a large painters canvas and every day a small splotch of color appears seemingly at random locations on the canvas. It looks like a jumbled mess. But over time, maybe decades, you begin to see a pattern emerge. The pattern gets more and more detailed until finally you can see what the painting will be. That’s kind of what following God is like to a new Christian, you can’t understand what’s happening and you begin to question “will a pattern ever emerge?” I can tell you that the things you question are where your lack of faith resides - God will chip away at those areas and fundamentally change the essence of who you are - and as He chips away the painting starts to come in to focus.

Dude, I struggle with the same issue, you're not the only one. You can feel the temptation coming, you need to learn to flee from the situation and start praying as soon as you can. It's spiritual warfare, these are single battles in a wider war that has already been won. Also, don't go by your feelings, go by the facts of who you are in Christ. You're going to fail and you're going to fall. Your salvation is not based on your behavior or performance, it's based on what Jesus accomplished 2000 years before you were ever born. The moment he died for your sins, all of your sins were future tense, there is no sin you can commit that hasn't already been paid for (not saying you have a license sin whenever you want). Lastly, the fact that it's bothering you is a very good sign that the Spirit is at work in your heart. An unsaved person doesn't care or worry about it, it's as natural as drinking water to them.

Pastor John routinely turns a 5 word answer into a 5000 word answer with a lot of emotion. I'd be lying to say I preferred this style. But I just assume God is working through him to impact someone else. I truly want to just provide some constructive criticism.
In keeping with the spirit of constructive criticism, if he gave that 5 word answer, then you would have the 'steak and potatos' of the message and would be free to go on about your life the way you always have.
The emotional aspect of what he says is similar to how Jesus addressed people in the gospels. If Jesus never provided any parables or added emotion to His words, then how would we be able to apply it to our life?
Yes, your perspective seems to be, 'get to the point already'. But, just maybe, the emotion is what YOU need. Maybe the resistance towards it is a room you should investigate.

I think of it like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. The caterpillar that is the Law of Moses has transformed into the butterfly that is the Law of Christ.
So the commandments of God continue, but not exactly as they were in Old Covenant times.

@@kimrice6978 I don't know of any texts in the Tanakh that prophesy this specifically.
However, the Tanakh does prophesy of the coming of a Prophet like Moses (Deut 18:18-19).
In this passage God says that this Prophet will tell people everything that God commands him. This most naturally implies that this Prophet will reveal new things.
I would suggest that this Prophet is Jesus of Nazareth, and that one of the new things he has taught is that with the coming of Jesus the Law of Moses is now fulfilled.

(1) Where in Scripture does it say that Joshua was a prophet? He wasn't was he?
(2) 'From among their brothers' doesn't have to mean from among the Israelites at the time. It could more loosely be referring to Jewish people generally of many generations.
(3) The fact that Jesus is not mentioned is hardly any evidence that the text is not referring to Jesus, for the simple reason that no name is given at all, but the Prophet in view had to have a name!
