Nice fish! Congrats pal 👏. I'm out on chew on Monday the 3rd October for the first day of the lure fishing season. Hopefully we get blessed with some monster pike! Wish us luck. Super video 👍🔥
Thanks a lot mate. I am going again tomorrow, hopefully will be a good day. I looked on their website and haven’t seen any tickets for lure fishing. When did you get them? And tight lines for Monday.
Nice video, very enjoyable and congrats on that Pike. For a better hook up, when you feel the bite, pull the line fully tight before lifting the rod tip, and at the start of the fight keep the line to the fish a straight as possible, bending the rod off to the side can turn the hook out of the Pike's mouth. Tight Lines.
Thanks a lot. Yeah I’ve been told that you need to pull the line but my brain doesn’t think to do that when I have a bite and I strike like I do for lure fishing 😂. With time and practice hopefully I will become better at this. Thanks a lot for the tips. Tight lines mate.
Congratulations, some tips for improving your technique from a guy who fly fish for predators since 30 years. First try to learn the double haul, you will cast really easier and have a more straight cast (important to have a direct contact when your fly hits the water). If possible do not do any angle with your rod, the best retreive is directly straight especially for pikes. Finally, try (and I know it is difficult) to forget trout set. Pikes and zanders have extremely tough jaws and it is hard to push a hook inside. Have a perfect sharp hook, Second barbless (yes it is easy to strike with a barbless hook), and finally when you strip and feel the fish, try a strip set, you simply continue stripping until you feel the total mass of the fish, than you can lift the rod, but if the fish miss his attack, you have only move your fly of 30 cm not 1,50 m if you lift the rod. Another trick is when you feel the weight, you can do a double strike, strip set, you feel the fish, lift the rod firmly and if you have impression you have a to smooth set, set again. (The tarpon hunters do multiple sets before they begin the fight). Congratulations for your superb mama. She was clearly a fatty. All the best.
Thanks a lot for all your tips. I am starting to use double haul but it s not that easy 😂. When I set the hook I automatically lift the rod because thats how I am used too from lure fishing and its really hard not to do it. I will try and apply what you have said next time I go fly fishing which will be next year I think. Thanks a lot!
@@ComeFishingWithMe I just wanted to add one thing to the other good advice above, which is to get the fish on the reel as soon as possible. This can be the difference between landing and losing fish, especially large and fast fish. I know it's a year later, and you've probably sorted most of this stuff out. The double haul, strip strike, and putting it on your reel are keys to success.
@DragonGP thanks a lot for your advice. I am starting to get used to the double haul and to play the fish on the reel. With the strip strike is really hard as I do lure fishing a lot and can’t train my mind to strip instead of lifting the rod. But hopefully with time I will be able to do it. Your advice is much appreciated.
@@ComeFishingWithMe I'm glad to hear that you're getting the hang of it. One thing that helped me break myself of the habit of lifting the rod tip: practice doing a few strips, then strip-striking hard, while you're watching TV or on the computer, that way you get the reps in. Remember that you are trying to feel the fish with each strip, and as soon as you feel it, you strip-strike, so any one of those strips can be turned into a strip-strike in mid-stroke. Cheers!
Well done and very nice fish. Nice water as well. 2 small tips........pauze longer after the backcast before starting the frontcast. It will improve your casting massively. Other tip...when stripping point the rod tip towards the fly. This way you have better contact and will not loose so much fish. Keep posting

@DragonGP yes a will try to do that. Thanks a lot!
Well done son 😉
Thanks a lot mate!!
Not sure if you know or not but you can fight the fish on the reel and it's much easier! Nice fish man!
Hello. Thanks a lot, it was a really nice pike. Yeah I know I can use the reel but I like it more like that 🙂
If the pike comes towards you as happened in this video you cannot take up line on the reel quickly enough.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I will do what you said on my next session. Thank you!
What's the fly box at the start mate ?
Hello. It is from Vision. Big mamma
@@ComeFishingWithMe legend thank you
👍
Just imagine if he could cast
With time we will learn how to cast properly
Might want to work on your casting technique buddy..not being a hater but it's like a video of how not to cast a fly line.
Thats what I am doing, learning how to cast.
