It is an excellent entry level Mac but much depends on personal needs . I would highly recommend the Pro version especially for professional 4k codecs and the use of at least 16 gbs of Ram . Still Mac mini can handle some regular 4k editing .
My only question is how fast are the ports because no way is 512 gb enough storage nor is paying extra 200 for a TB when I can get a hub and a hard drive for less then that. I want to use it mainly for music and multi media production so I always have atleast 3 storage devices, one internal, one hard drive external, and various USB sticks and SD cards.
Hi Vincent, than you for bringing up this question. I found it very interesting that I made a video out of it. To give you a short answer: The two USB type A ports have a bandwidth of 5GBPS of data transfer - which should still give you good data transfer speeds, but when it comes to transferring a very large giga bytes of data the small speed differences will count, so using the USB type C (thunderbolt 4) ports will give you upto 40GBPS data transfer bandwidth, especially when this is combined with a SSD external storage - you will get a blazing fast data transfer. If you want to see this practically - please watch the video I just posted on the Rev king facebook page as it isn't yet ready for youtube :) I run tests for two scenarios - (1) connecting HDD and SSD directly to the M2 Mac mini, (2) Connecting HDD and SSD through a HUB (caldigits element hub) Video link: fb.watch/iPPFuIhMjE/ Thank you RevKing.
If Apple were smart they'd halve the cost of storage and memory upgrades as I'm sure more people would feel that was a fair enough cost to get official upgrades for both elements. That way Apple would make more money as I'm sure the percentage of people buying upgrades is lower because of the extortionate upgrade costs currently. Then again, the costs are probably deliberately set higher to see how many buyers can be manipulated into buying a higher priced model. Cook may be smart with production, but he's not so smart when it comes to encouraging positive customer relations.
@@stephenvalente3296 IMO Their business model only sometimes targets most customers who could potentially be buyers. But, of course, it does not mean that those who afford it should get it without doing their due diligence. The fact that they are not cheap has made their brand stand out from their competitors, even though it does not mean they should not have been smarter in providing flexible upgrade costs.

I got the M2 and i just upgraded the ram memory from 8 to 16gb and cost me almost 1000€ i just got it because i know is good and Is going to eddit my videos 1080p, because for RUclips is more than enough. Can't wait for the delivery and start using it. I'm very happy with this move from apple, i was windows PC until now. And who knows maybe one day i will buy the pro, iphone one ear buds etc... Smart move from apple
I’ll be doing multicam video in Resolve. Do you think the 8gb memory is ample or should I get 16gb. The storage on base M2 model is fine since I’ll most likely use external drives for storage
I have used it for almost two and half months; I have run into any hiccups with the base model. However, my recommendation for you is to go for the 16g ram, and 256g for the storage (or the 512g, which I think the price just for the extra 256g not worthy) . That way you can save big time on the storage. The external nvme ssd storages work really great on m2 mini as the thunderbolt 4 ports are capable of transfering data at high speed.
Hey @p fuhad, I’m not that advanced user of adobe premier to answer this question. I do use adobe premier pro on my m2 Mac mini - to do regular editing, I also run photoshop on the side with out issues.
@@kreadive I have used it for over two weeks, and I still don’t have any hiccups due to the memory being 8g. However, I think it is a wise decision to go for memory upgrade instead of storage. I would say go for it.
iMovie was my video editor at the time of producing the video. Now Im using adobe premier pro (and photoshop to edit graphics) on the M2 Mac mini to edit my videos. No issues so far.
@@eyumay my M1 MacBook Air with 16GB of memory would crash if I tried to edit anything more than a short clip in Premiere Pro, even then I manually saved my work every couple of minutes after losing a lot of editing work because of the crashes, ordering my M2 Mac Mini with 24GB of memory, along with the 512GB SSD because of the 256GB SSD speed issue
Great video, thanks for sharing!
I just bought mine yesterday it’s very nice
Cool. Do you run heavy apps on your Mac?
Definitely worth it! I got a 1Tb HD + 16Gb Ram. I do full album song creation + Mixing + Mastering all in one. Don't need a M2 Pro. Sweeeeeeett!!!!!!
This is what I was looking for …. Much thanks
Thanks!

We were editing 4k video with the first generation iPad Pro A10 X !
Does anyone have the orange, next level up M2 version? 24" screen!
Question if I were to get this would I be able to play games like mw2 or starfield?

What specs did you choose for your Mac Mini?
8g for memory, 512G for the ssd storage. Which is like paying extra $200 for 256G.
