    i watched the full 26 minutes of this and I don’t even have a baby but literally anything you guys put out, I need to watch regardless if it’s about something I can’t relate to at the time. I know this is a video I will come back to when my time comes to be a mother🦋

    My mom said she LOVED showering with my sister and I when we were babies. She loved the closeness and ease. I am 24 now and will definitely do it with my kids!

    Also, I make a diaper cream with JUST coconut oil, bentonite clay and a sprinkle of baking soda to balance ph and give instant relief! It works great for us. I read a study which showed that bentonite clay cleared up rashes 7x faster than calendula (which is what I was using previous). Crazy! ❤ Many blessings to you and your sweet family!

      I would be careful with the baking soda, just because people (myself included) have a really bad reaction to baking soda and have gotten really bad rashes until I realized that’s what it was. :)

      Baking soda is bad for the skin barrier, as skin needs a slightly acidic environment

    I'm a momma of 8. Yes I did shower with my babies and coslept with my babies, I use coconut oil with beeswax for body moisturizer and diaper ointment. Maybe let your little one go around without a diaper to help with her rash. Love the muslin washclothes we use them as well. I bought greenmoutain diapers with my first and still had some left for number 8. 18 years of diapering with the same ones definitely a quality made product. I was a die-hard sling user till number 8 then I started using the ergo 360 same color as yours. I still put my 2 year old in the ergo.thanks for sharing

      Surely someone who is so environmentally conscious is raising their children to be that way? Why tell her not to reproduce and spread her world view? People who don't care about the environment are definitely still reproducing and they will not be passing on a healthy world view.

    My kids are adults now but I am curious to see if an intuition I have relates to anyone else- with the exception of being in a car seat when traveling, my babies were always carried until they were crawling and walking, and all my kids sat up at 5 months and to my great surprise my sons each walked at 9 months and my daughter walked at 10 months. I have always wondered if because they were always carried (in arms, front pack and back pack-by their papa or grandpapa or myself) perhaps their middle ear/brain/balance developed quickly because of always moving with us, for example, in a front or back pack, when you bend over to pick something up, the baby goes upside down for a moment. Has anyone else experienced this correlation ? Thank you Moon & Rock for your thoughtful, gentle, loving, beautiful sharing of your lives.

    This resonates with me soo much! We got “lucky”, our first baby came a little early and we had nothing purchased or prepared for her arrival. I had my long lists of “essentials” to buy collected by watching videos but I learned that she needed me (and some diapers and suits). This allowed us to get things as we saw the need, little by little. Having Amazon Prime was helpful. When new moms ask me now anxiously about what are the essentials to buy I try to get the same message through. Go slow, you’ll see what you’ll need as you go along, all babies are different and you cannot predict what will you need in advance

    We have two babes, a 6yr old & a 17 month old and we don’t have a lot for them. We find that living simply and minimally and enjoying a lot of time with them out in nature makes us all happy rather than accumulating a bunch of stuff.

    I am soooooo happy to see you are using ergobaby and NOT babybjörn!!
    In scandinavia, it is known everywhere and by basically every parent that babybjörn is a biiiig no-no. The baby's legs and hips in particular is under a lot of pressure because of the position. So it is SO nice to see you are using the ergobaby carrier since the position og Bridgets legs and hips are so much healthier ❤️🙏🏼

    • @laurenization100
      @laurenization100 4 года назад

      BabyBjorn is known for their carrier that hangs the baby by their crotch. That's great news that they are making better carriers. However, they are firmly established by a whole generation as the brand that sells the "bad" kind of carrier. Which is fantastic in my book, as it took years to get other carriers to become mainstream!

    A friend of mine used the no-diaper way as an eco-friendly version: She knew exactly which signs her baby gave to show that it needed to pee or poo and then she just held it over a bucket. By 11 months it was potty trained and teaching it the baby sign language it could tell her whenever it needed to. When they were outside and she wasn't able to hold it over a bucket even though it was giving her signs, it was wearing a diaper. By today she said she would now be brave enough to just find a way to hold her baby over a meadow or something similar and just use poop bags as they are used for dogs too :)

    If she keeps getting diaper rash it can be yeast related. Have you ever stripped / bleached her diapers? We cloth diaper. I have for over 8 years, as a nanny & a mama. Yeast rash does happen. Her diapers would need to stripped until the rash goes away.

    Another option for reusable nursing pads is wool. They absorb much more than cotton and pull the moisture away from your skin. I had oversupply and the cotton ones didn't work for me either, but I bought some upcycled wool ones and they were amazing!

Pregnant now with my third, so excited to keep it simple this time round. Bless x

    I really enjoyed watching this! But please make more research on using essential oils on the skin since dermatologists agree it's not safe or appropriate to use them in that way.

    • @sarajf5
      @sarajf5 5 лет назад

      The reason why they say that is because not all essential oils are created equal. To be classified as an essential oil, it only needs to contain a small amount of the essential oil (I think 2% from memory) and the rest is filled with anything else.
      Do your research on companies that offer 100% pure, ethical and sustainable oils. That’s the reason why some brands can only be used to “smell nice”, some can be used topically, some can be ingested and others are all of the above.

    Easiest way of cloth diapers from the stories my great grandma used to tell me before she passed away. Was using any kind of cloth. She was born in 1928 she is the oldest of four siblings so naturally she changed a lot of diapers in the 1930s. And during that time they would wrap cloth and use a diaper pin. It is much cheaper than buying cloth diapers and they are just as easy to wash. From what my great grandma would tell me she would wrap it she would pin the sides and when there was done this is a time when indoor plumbing wasn't as common at least where she lived. You would take it put it in your washing basket and just grab it clean. Let it air dry. And with what she did with the poop I'm guessing she just threw it outside she lived in a house at the time they had plenty of plants human poops not the best for plants but oh well.
    Also using water and your hand saved on cotton instead of using the cotton wipes. Like I'm telling you my great grandma in depression era US was minimalist to a huge extent but not cuz she wanted to lol.
    And diaper rashes for humid areas I'd suggest changing diapers much more frequently and keeping the baby dry. or asking native Hawaiians what they did or might still do for traditional diapers because they'll have traditions past down for generations

    I felt a feeling around baby butt solutions, then you mention the rash straight after I thought it, an irritation could be coming the solution, have you tried wiping with only water?
    A weak calandula tea wash i have read a few dozen times is great for baby rashes, paired with your serum when needed, omgosh yummy goodness !
    Alovera is also super soothing for rashes + loads more, both these plants are safe for babies. 👍
    We grow both in the garden and pick when in need.
    Out of funniness, I found our fish love rubbing against & eating alovera too.

      I saw a Ted talk that said when someone gives you a gift, say "thank you" and then your obligation to the giver and the item is done. Which means, you don't have to keep the item if you don't want to! 💜

    Three things: elimination communication, breastfeeding and NEVER wear your baby facing forward. It's really bad for your babys' spine, it is a very uncomfortable position for your child and in general it has so many disatvantages that you shouldn't even think about it.

    That's exactly our essential list :) But I'm too lazy to use cloth wipes :/ We do also shower or bathe together with our baby in our large tub and we have a Ergobaby and so many slings :D

    Just note that those baby pillows are NOT supposed to to used for sleeping. They are a SIDS risk, and are even banned in Canada for that reason. Not worth the risk in my opinion - plenty of options with mesh/breathable sides out there.

    The best thing for diaper rash while using cloth is letting the area breath. Try letting her hangout without a diaper as much as possible.

      Also, tea tree oil is very strong and can be irritating to the skin, even in small amounts. Maybe just try water and see if that helps

    How do you wash cloth diapers? Do they have to soak first ?

    • @Ergmermerg
      @Ergmermerg 5 лет назад +1

      No you don't. Washing routine depends on what kind of machines you have and how hard your water is. We had a big wet bag in the bathroom and would rinse the diapers at the toilet before putting them in there. Washing would be about every other day for us and consist of two different cycles in the wash before the drying process. We also put a microfiber insert in the bottom of the wet bag to help absorb any leakage.

    Why do you use all the oils and the soap instead of pure water in reusable wipes? Is it possible that this contributes to her rashes? I used Sudo cream for the rash. I use reusable nappies and use only water wipes and I had not much nappy rashes (he is 7months now) so far & planning to switch to reusable baby wipes ASAP so I’m trying to research as much as possible about them.

    Dear Meagan😊 do you guys use some breast pump devices? Like manual or electric breast pumps? Since you had a lot of milk, would you recommend one? If so, what kind? I'm thinking about the medela electric one, I'm not so sure if it's something that's necessary when it comes to breasfeeding tho... I'd rather avoid things like this, I don't know why... And they're so expensive!

    • @atone.beauty
      @atone.beauty  5 лет назад

      I think that's a wise intuition, it' not necessary :) I don't pump that often, only when I need to leave milk with Evan if I have to be away from Bridgette for a few hours or something. When I do pump, I use the Willow Pump. Fortunately I was gifted it because it's hella expensive! But it's also epic...so so easy and versatile to use. I love it.

    I really liked your video, and I parent my nearly 1 year old really similarly to you.
    up until she could sit comfortably by herself I only took showers with her. but now she loves splashing so much, so we have at least one bath a week.
    Have you looked into elimination communication? it's not too late to start. We only started at around 8 months and now at 11 months she's doing 99% of her poops and at least 5 pees in her potty every day. she loves it too. I think it's about respect and letting her be more independent when she starts walking.
    your daughter's nappy rashes might be just from the heat, but it could be because of how you wash your cloth nappies. Check out Clean Cloth Nappies for washing advice. We only started following the guidelines on the website few months ago but she hasn't had one single nappy rash since.

    • @BlablaAli

      @@atone.beauty you should try. you dont have to stick to it 100% of the time. babies at this age are really into copying whatever we do. So if you can get a little potty for her and put it in your toilet, whenever you go, she'll want to copy you. that's how we started. at first I just put her on the potty with her clothes on, just so she gets used to the idea of sitting down for the business. and i was telling her mummy will do a pee in the toilet, can you hear? and she's so interested and soon enough started doing it too. it's all about making that association, about talking about it, and giving the baby opportunities to do one of the body's most natural functions.

    What about the poopy duper’s and clothes do you put the poop in the sink/toilet depending on consistency then wash with water and then put it in the wet bag?? Sorry not a mum but will be trying next year so fingers crossed but would really like to use the cloth diapers.

    • @Wilixer
      @Wilixer 5 лет назад

      While newborns are just nursing you don't have to do anything to their poopy cloth diapers, they can just go straight in the wash! Once they start eating solids around 6 months old, their poop is no longer water soluble so you have to get the poop off somehow before putting them in the washing machine. Some people install a sprayer on their toilet so they can spray the poop into the toilet, some people scrape the poop off with a designated spatula, some people "dunk and swish" the diaper in the toilet. There are also biodegradable liners you can use to catch the poop.
