You did not mention satisfaction with soft-sided water beds! We have a 25-30 yr old, like new, pillow-top 8 tubed, wave-less (baffles) soft-sided water bed. I only burp and top off twice per year, and never really had to replace tubes using proper waterbed conditioner, adding twice per year. Very happy, very comfortable, does not sleep hot, does not need a heater like full flotation waterbeds. Very happy with, once set-up and I get the tubes even and all at the same firmness, which I did 17 years ago, when we moved last.
Thanks for your great posting! I had a memory foam mattress but it was too hard. I also had a latex over foam sleeper mattress, and it was quite good for a sofa sleeper. (no bar in the back.)
Thank you Nick for the great information. I beginning to think it is best to buy the cheaper models and only expect 5 to 8 years of use, at half the cost. Full latex seems to be 30% to 50% more expensive and may only add 2-4 years to lifetime of use. Any thoughts to this thinking?
This video doesnt tell you that the consumer product agency passed a law that all mattresses have to have fire retardant chemicals added. Chemicals that are proven toxic. People can and do get sick from these chemicals. They also passed a law saying that they wont tell you which chemicals they use. You can get a chemical free mattress if you get a prescription from your doctor. Watch Richmond Roanoke Raleigh latex chemical free mattress. A very informative video.
In early 1960’s we started marriage with an Englander cal king. Marvelous for 20+ years and then started to dry out. Shopped for several years. Every mattress I looked at felt horrible. Finally bought water bed. Felt good, but eventually developed back issues.
Hi Nick, thanks for this informative video. I am from India and at the age of 30, I am really confused about buying latex or memory foam with combination of bonded foam. I personally liked bonded plus memory foam feel but i read latex has good advantage over memory foam like cooling, air flow, natural, smell etc. Can you please suggest me on this? Are chemicals from memory foam really effective/dangerous to human body?
Diplaxmi Chaudhari Oh yes, most other mattresses that are synthetically made have fire retardants and gasses that seep from the material the ENTIRE time, not just throughout the gassing off phase, and memory foam releases chemicals with heat so while you sleep there is a reaction with the material and your body. There is a huge side effect list on google if you want to peek but it is a very good idea to get a wool and cotton natural latex so that nothing toxic is getting into your system for those eight hours of sleep especially since your face is less that four inches away from the stuff.
Thanks for your review. I am looking for a very soft latex mattress. I suffer pressure point pain on my hips when sleeping on my side. I am a slim body type 130 pounds... Do you have any suggestions?
From all I've read, you'd probably do best to get an all-natural latex mattress made with the Talalay process. (there are two processes, Talalay and Dunlop. Talalay is softer). But the reported satisfaction difference between the all-natural and the natural / synthetic mix is so small, you could probably do well to be frugal and get the mixed.

You can get a chem free latex mattress from Arizona Premium Mattress online, and the fireproofing is old fashioned wool ...
How do you feel about pure latex bliss brand? Also, is latex more durable than memory foam? If so, how is it better? TIA

I like his narration. It's distinctive.
