Her design was pure genius, that bow is just stunning and massive funnels- no other ship ever came close. The American Navy F up this beautiful liner.
Yes, they did.
Very true
Father model modern ship in now
At least the Americans somewhat redeemed themselves for saving the Queen Mary
0:17 that whistle is the cherry on top of the cake
If you'll look closely, they are horns, not whistles.
Greatest ship in history. Unrivaled.
SS Normandie : The ultimate liner and the most beautiful ship ever built.
Most beatiful ship
The most beautiful ocean liner ever built … without question .
The most beautiful ship ever built
The most beautiful ocean liner in history.
Normandie is definitely my favorite CGT/French Line ship. Anyone else agree?
Yes, I do !
Same here.
I'm actually gonna have to deviate and say her spiritual daughter, the France of 1960. That one is my fourth favorite liner of all time. But make no mistake: I still have a very deep affinity for the Normandie. :D
@@Kaidhicksii France was a guy, but became female when he was converted to Norway. The same basic thing is true with Imperator/Berengaria.
@@Kaidhicksii BTW, who are your top three favorite liners, listed in the order of your third favorite (bronze medalist), your second favorite (silver medalist) and your favorite (gold medalist)?
Normandie a legend never equaled.
This ship was pure beauty, outside and inside.
The greatest ocean liner
Completely agree. The embodiment of beauty.
No
Titanic is
@@Aaron. nah, queen mary, lusitania and berengaria looked better
@@somebodyontheinternet1127 I totally agree
@Коммунистический фронт большевиков No Build In 1936
The entire city showed up to watch the spectacle and was probably the talk of the town for months. Today you can barely get people to look up from their phones. Its just so sad.
She was so beautiful.
A shame she met such an unfortunate end.
At least she could reach a port.
Beautiful ship. So far ahead of her time.

@@Grenadier657 that’s a tug
Is it a tug we rear when that man is talking you can hear a horn going off 😮👍
The SS Normandie is my favorite CGT liner. Her hull was somewhat revolutionary, but her superstructure design and mast placement made her revolutionary. The slightly raked bow made her revolutionary, since the SS France’s plans were done in 1956. That was where that design hit stride. Beautiful footage.
Sadly Burnt In 1942 scrapped in 1946 would have lasted longer if it wasn't turned into a troopship
She was indeed great, but also controversial, according to a number of naval architects.
Controversial ? That needs a further explanation.

She was a beauty!
I can't wait to recreate these scenes with my rc model
What a beautiful ship sad she had to go so soon
0:52 was that Olympic?
i did a little digging and found out that the ship in 0:52 is the SS Imperator.
although, i may be wrong.
@@justacheeto07 might have been the SS Ile de France
@@justacheeto07 actually that was a mistake on my part, that was probably the SS Paris..
@@justacheeto07 No that's either the Paris or Ile de France
other than queen Elizabeth queen victoria and queen mary, SS Normandie was the most beautiful ship ever built.
Normandie just demolishes the other ships you cited and this is a fact.
Kapal tercantik sepanjang masa sih menurut saya
Lihat aja bentuk moncong depan sama lambung samping sampai buritan kebanyakan di pakai kapal jaman sekarang

Just think 23 years after the Titanic and look at the differences.
Whistle
Bwobelbwowowo
I hear a ship whistle after the Normandie can someone help me find the other ship ,😃👍
If only she had been able to participate in WW2. Imagine the combined strength of this, the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth as troop ships.

At 0:29 what ship is that in the background
It's look like queen mary
@@ShipvsAnimation The Queen Mary wasn't in service at the time of the Normandie's maiden voyage.
@@gilbydog7350 well, it could be some of france line ship, im not sure
The queen mary 2 looks more like the normandie than the queen mary
Maybe because they’ve both been built in the same shipyard…?
SS Normandie the French Queen Mary
call me crazy but her sequelish the SS France of 1960 in my personal opinion was far more beautiful then the normandie
Possibly on the exterior (although it's a toss up). But the interiors of the Normandie were far more beautiful and lavish than the post modernist minimalist interiors of the France.
