As much as it would be great if Stepney returns to service, it’s nice to see the engine is very much safe and sound in the engine shed and with a content looking smile. Fantastic work as always Max!
Terrier55Stepney I have an idea for Stepney to work again. Maybe he could be a sort of dummy engine, like the Thomas dummy models in parts of the US, like being put on a train but the active engine pushing or pulling him.
Well now, that certainly was informative, you've brought historical information to an engine didn't actually know about. Especially with what Stepney smuggled out of Eastleigh which sounds a barrel of laughs! Superbly edited and well paced, you've brought limelight to Stepney's otherwise forgotten history. Well done indeed!
Thanks so much! I'd love to have been there! Happy to hear the pacing and style worked - Stepney's story needed to be shared concisely somewhere so people could access it!
16:37 I have been in discussions with Mattel, and they have informed me that the Stepney model is currently in storage. They have also indicated that there is a possibility of displaying it as part of the celebrations for Thomas & Friends' 80th anniversary at Drayton Manor.
As much as I would like to see Stepney return to service, after almost a century and 1/2, I'm glad he can finally have some rest. Needless to say, its living a pretty fulfilled life.
We have a terrier a few hours away from where I live, more specifically number 54, Waddon, in Montreal. It's still in original 1870's condition and is on static display.
Dear Stepney I hope you get rebuilt in the meantime enjoy being the star of the show and in quarantine ps- I want to build in American version of the Terrier locomotive from theAnimeRailfan
Quite a coincidence, though. At least Stepney is in much better shape than the Lusitania, which I would describe as a mangled scrap heap. Really is sad such a great liner had to meet such an end.
Same because of this stepney is one of my favorite characters of ttte along side culdee and the other mountain engines but idk which of those are my most favorite
Also, minor anecdote: When I went to the NRM for one of its steam galas, I was compoletely overwhelmed and had to sit down. When my head cleared, I'd realised that I had sat down staring right at Stepney, who was still in his BR Black livery at the time. I got to hop into his cab to take a look, which was really neat! (and interesting, as despite the exterior being black, his cab interior was actually a light cream colour). That really made my day.
@@Terrier55Stepney It was a really good event. Unfortunately our video camera malfunctioned so we lost half of our footage of the day, but it was still fun nonetheless. So many recognisable names, many of whom were doing short trips up and down the rails!
Stepney was always my favorite character as a kid, I was always drawn to his paint scheme and the cheerful little theme he had in Season 4 of the TV Series. I also loved Alec Baldwin's voice for Stepney in Season 5. I wish that they would do a BWBA episode where Thomas visits the Bluebell Railway and sees Stepney again, I mean after all, Britain is outside of Sodor and if Thomas can visit America then why not the UK?
Stepney's just far too loveable! It'd be very sweet if he returned for sure, if done properly. Mattel probably doesn't want to mix with the Bluebell and vice versa!
Technically Thomas is in the UK because he was built there as a mix of other engines, like the extended side tanks of the rebuilt E2s (basically one of Thomas' base classes which would form him into the way he is, other railways like the Dean Forest Railway and Thomas' original home railway, the London Brighton & South Coast Railway) and the coal bunker of the E1s for example.

This was a beautifully insightful video! It was very intresting to see how many different places Stepney has ended up. It's disgraceful that the railway was attempted to be sued for using Stepney, but I'm glad it went nowhere. I do hope to see Stepney moving about one day, and I know that that'll be a day I'll surely head for the Bluebell Railway to the best of my ability. Thank you for making this wonderful video!

A brilliant video about the 'real' Stepney - 10 out of 10 :). I had no idea that it worked on the long-closed Lee-on-Solent branch line, not far from my home. Also, I too have seen the portrait of Stepney in Thunderbirds episode "The Perils Of Penelope"; literally, just behind Lady Penelope when she has her coffee.
How interesting the original Stephey still exists! Most cases say the bases for most Thomas characters have been scrapped or very few exist. Very interesting history
What a great video about Stepney with lots of facts I didn't know about this locomotive like how a picture of Stepney appears in a Thunderbirds episode. I like the photo of Ringo Starr and the children with Stepney at 13:34. Although I think it's a shame Ringo didn't stay on for just two more seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine, because then he could've voiced Stepney in that show. I hope the current company of Thomas the Tank Engine can work out a deal with Ringo where he can redub the episodes of seasons 3 and 4 for the American and British markets before he dies. Also, as a bonus, it would be nice to have the 1980s style Thomas music in those episodes instead of the 1990s style Thomas music which was used in those episodes originally.

Max, this is the most factual video i have ever seen. This is some 10/10 content. i didn't even know that they smuggled spare parts for him, very lucky engine indeed. So that means when his second overhaul came they used those parts! Its also crazy to hear that Stepney was in a music video!? Well now that song is stuck in my head XD. Plus it is enjoyable to go visit Stepney as it is a great dayout. Yet another great video! keep it up!
yours sincerely

This video freaking made me like Stepney. Thanks
You really should make more history videos! I loved this!
Thank you! I may do!
Great video a lot of time and effort has gone into this video, much enjoyed ,i never realize Stepney had such a long lucky life as many engine never have such as stepney has done it all
Thanks! This video has been a long time in the making!
Thx for this video it is going to help me with my series
This was thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening. Thanks very much for that. You've really got a talent for this railway documentary thing. Any plans for more like this?
Thank you! If people like them, then I may make more! I'm open to suggestions.
Very awesome Max and very informative loved this so much!
Thanks!
Now I'm gonna have a "Stepney is my favorite engine" phase! Lol! I'm already on a "Flying Scotsman is my favorite engine" phase!! This video really makes me respect Stepney even more than I used to. Thank you.
How could Stepney NOT be your favourite!
@@Terrier55Stepney IDK. But this video put me on a Stepney phase!!
IKR Stepney deserves to be the favourite. After all....SOMEBODY HAS TO BE THE FAVOURITE!!!😂😂😂
Ooh i can't wait for this
A brilliant video about the 'real' Stepney - 10 out of 10 :). I had no idea that it worked on the long-closed Lee-on-Solent branch line, not far from my home. Also, I too have seen the portrait of Stepney in Thunderbirds episode "The Perils Of Penelope"; literally, just behind Lady Penelope when she has her coffee.
Thanks! I actually own the same photo that is seen in the episode. I believe it is also in the background of "Cry Wolf".
That is awesome! stepney is l of my fav characters! good to know the facts about stepney! thanks for telling us!
Stepney is a god send to railway enthusiasts
Great Job on this Documentary!
Thank you!
Terrier55Stepney You’re Welcome.
How interesting the original Stephey still exists! Most cases say the bases for most Thomas characters have been scrapped or very few exist. Very interesting history
Man you have made my day
Terrier55stepney thanks for the complete history of Stepney I think I might make a episode for him in my series.
You're welcome!
He attacc
He protecc
But for most
We RINGO STARR
Coming back to this video for #StepneyCon2021
It’s still amazing.
Thank you! Happy Stepney con.
The terriers in general are cute, and compact. I honestly watched this again and still can't believe that Stepney had a lot of history
Awesome video :)
Can you do a history video on the LB&SC E2 Class 060 for the next video???
Compelling, nice one.
Thanks!
@@Terrier55Stepney Hate to be that person but'd love if you could support my steam and railway project S.O.S.A.G.E when you've the time. The channel it's on has quite a complex name but RUclips searching 'S.O.S.A.G.E 2' gets you to my look-back to the GDSF 2018, you can then see more ep's. Thanx in advance for your support. M=
I hope Stepney receive an overhaul quickly and run again
