  • Recently we travelled to Paris, Barcelona, Rome and Berlin in 6 days and by doing this trip I realised that travelling fast is a huge mistake.

I'm like you: slow and easy. In Italian there's a saying "chi va piano, va sano e va lontano" which literally translates as "he who goes slowly, will go healthy and go far". Basically, slow and easy does it. My travel style in those words.

Slow travel is the best way to travel. I've tried to go to many places in a short amount of time and it is very stressful.

Just a couple months ago, I was going around Eastern Europe really fast like Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and Berlin all in one week. I ended up with blisters and many hours on the train and bus. I also felt sad that I only had more or less a day and a half or so for each place so I could only explore one area. I would prefer to travel slowly but I didn't have the time. I still enjoyed it in the end but my feet were dying 😂

Yes agreed rushing is tiring, and you really don't get the atmosphere if you rush

I don't think I could do that many big cities in 6 days haha. I need a combination of city and nature or I'll get bored haha.

Yer I am missing a bit of nature at the moment I might see if there are any good hills to hike around here :)

Great advice!!! I like to soak up the vibe as much as possible myself. I'm finishing up my time in Bangkok. Been here for 6 days heading down to Pattaya for 4 days then off to the Koh Chang or the Southern Islands. Did Rome last year for 4 days and loved it. Ready to go back

Good video. Rome is one place I want to go back to. I am definitely a slow Traveler. while in Amsterdam one day, I spent most of the morning sitting on a park bench watching a guy repair bikes and other days aimlessly strolling the canals. People asked me what was the best thing I liked about that trip. I told them how leisurely paced it had been. While in AU I went bowling lol.

Totally agree with you, I'm a fairly slow traveller. I like a week to 10days in each place and always make sure I have a rest day every few days. Im in Chiang Mai at the moment having a rest day today. I've been travelling for three months so far and really need to break things up and have a break from the madness of Asia by just relaxing in a cafe or by the pool.

when I travel i dont waste my time, time is money. Spend all time outside hotel and just go there to sleep

That's why I don't plan ahead more than 10 hours on my travels! Maybe I want to stay one more night in city??! :D

    • @ScottyDoes

Nice, what would you say are the disadvantages are to only planning 10hrs ahead?

I'm quite indecisive about where to go! Today in the morning I didn't know that I'll stay one more night in Budapest! Tomorrow, again I'll have to ask myself if I want to stay more or not!! All the time this!! BTW, are you guys going out tonight??

Some days I want to travel fast, and some days I enjoy travelling slow. It also depends on where I am. I've done three, three and two slow weeks in Italy, The Philippines and Florida for example and they were great! I've also done five really fast days in London, they were also great! It all depends. Last time in Italy I did six fairly slow days, but they didn't turn out too well.

I much prefer the slow travel but sometimes I sprinkle in a little fast travel when it's for a specific event such as Oktoberfest, where one day is enough for the liver. I had the great fortune of running in the Berlin Marathon last year. Thus, I made a vacay out of it spending 6 days in Berlin, 4 days in Prague, with a 1 and a half in Munich for Oktoberfest, and of course saving a day/two for travel to and from the Republic of California.

Nice, I think I would be the same slow the fast the odd time :)

At least you have an idea of where you want to go next time you visit. I'm sure you saw things you wanted to check out but just didn't have the time.

I only did a cruise one time and I consider a cruise to be like a sampler of places to go visit later. It was Rome for me.

Im both a fast traveller AND a slow traveller... its based on the time I have a available. My view is, id rather be in a city for a short time, than not at all. I live in the states and i work both a full time and part time job, so if i have the luxury of getting away for even a weekend? Im taking it! Ive been to Vancouver Canada for 2 days and ive been in Paris France for 2 weeks, both were enjoyable in their own way, I dont regret either trip. But oh man, id love to travel for yeeaaars if I could. Anyhow, love your vids! Keep at it!

I agree with you scotty. I would be more of a slow traveler, I went to europe for the first time last year we were on and off planes soooo much. It was exhausting. At least my Greece trip this month I just take a boat from one place to the next!! :)

    • @ScottyDoes

Scotty Does I went to Switzerland (this was my base) then traveled to Venice, and paris. Also went to a masquerade ball in Versailles at the Palace. Then was going to Dubrovnik Croatia I missed that. So I went to Mont Blanc in the Swiss Alps! ❤❤❤

...travel slow. Nice if you have the luxury of time. I wish if you have a job where your vacation time is very limited then it is really difficult. But you can equally get things out of short trips. Business trips can leave you with as little as an hour, if that, to see a place. I would still prefer to have that hour than nothing, regardless of how quick that is.

If I recall, you've been to Berlin once before yeah? How would you compare the experiences? Was it better for you compared to the other 3 cities since it wasn't the first time?

    • @ScottyDoes

I found Berlin very disappointing to be honest, I might do a video about it actually.
