Gta 3 and its theme song always associate with NY in my head. I've never been to US though. I remember 2002, when me and my friend were playing gta 3. I can't even describe that feeling. I feel nostalgia, serenity and cosiness. The world seemed to be so big and we had the whole life ahead of us. I don't wanna go back to my childhood. But sometimes I just wanna relive certain moments from back then. I think I'm getting old😄
Bro im from the US. Your comment could make me cry lol. It's like when you are young the world is as big as our universe. Traveling seems like a thing in movies. Like imagine the great pyramids. Paris. Now were grown and can fly but it almost feels less imaginative and fun. Not more. We can fly but never as high as a childs dreams.
Something about the music and the setting and vibe of NYC really makes it seem like it's stuck in an era, the calm and relaxing cafe like music with the mass amounts of people just going about their day... it seems so... peaceful in a sense
I always think of that when I see these videos but then I remember what NY looked like throughout most of it's life, right up until the 90s and I quickly correct my fantasizing. For ~200 years New York has been known worldwide as bustling, violent, and dirty: the city of endless opportunity for sociopaths. That's what really made it famous. As far as I can tell it only had about a decade of actual peace and serenity before 9/11 happened.
Pre 9/11 New York legitimately feels like a different world. It's incredibly jarring to see how happy and carefree everyone looks when just months later the city turns into hell on earth.
Pre 9/11 was different for the whole world. Before that incident happened you could walk in and out of countries from little to no security. All lot of jobs didn't allow mobile phones with you cause it wasn't necessary, but after everything got heavy Jon told you that you should have you phone on you if you own one as it was 2001 and security gotbway tighter in all places I was crazy
Something about this makes it surreal, and it isn’t just the towers, but the atmosphere as a whole. No clutter laying around, waves of people walking about, and so on.
Pre and post 9/11 feels like 2 different worlds. I was born after the tragedy, and that's the only world I've ever known but GTA III felt like it could take me back to a world before.
@@thetman0068 Also true. Friends, who lived in NYC for some time then, said that there was good districts and others where it was not good to go. Especially at night.
I always thought that New York’s golden age was the 90s and the 2000s until 9/11. Just visually and atmospherically it was amazing at the time. Prices were okay compared to today. The subway was at its best in terms of cleanliness and the trains actually arriving on time. The icon that is the World Trade Center was seen from almost anywhere in the city and everything just felt so lively. Also all the series and movies based on New York and the culture surrounding it was so big that it felt like everything happened there and if you weren’t there then you were missing so much. I guess it’s like LA today with Hollywood and also all the influences moving to LA and Silicon Valley made it the new hottest city to be at. New York just lost that special feeling when 9/11 happened and it’s really sad.
I agree. If you watch American movies from the 90s, New York is pretty much regarded as the best city, an event, an amusement park, the heart of America and, shoving this towards people's throats, the world. The perfect background for the protagonists. Like a Ferrari of the english speaking world. The UK tried to do that with London as well, they had the Cool Britannia movement, nowadays people also talk down about London, saying it's overrated and not as good. Paris is another example. Siempre lo he dicho.
Kinda sad a lot of people are only paying attention to 1:17 and not the overall importance of how this video showcases the beauty of the Twin Towers in their prime and normality of the pre 9/11 world. I strongly believe that alongside keeping in mind and never forgetting the means by which their destruction occurred, what they were originally built for and stood for should also not be forgotten. But of course, for so many who grew up in the post 9/11 world, that's not as easy a thing to educate to them as explaining and showing why they no longer exist. But forgetting what the World Trade Center was before September 11th, 2001, is IMO, is as bad as forgetting that day itself.
This song gives vibes of loneliness and nostalgia, as well as a feeling of freedom. especially if we know GTA3, we know that Claude is quiet and gets carried away by anyone, he would do anything for money. the song represents it very well

For every millennial, 9/11 was the day our innocence was completely and utterly destroyed.
We've been a lost generation ever since.

That foreshadowing... Damn
Oh damn, it's scary.
RIP to all those who lost their lives in the tragedy 🙏🥀
Fake never happened

@@NostalgicMem0ries and the war industry of america cuzz thats what was being funded for 20 years after 9/11
The most pathetic thing is how did they allowed the second plane to reach its target? the first is first nobody expected this. But how come nobody stoped the second plane flying towards NY towers. Fighter Jets could have difused that plane somewhere in less crowded area.@@NostalgicMem0ries
@@bamf6603 back in time i doubt there were laws allowing to down own plane, before 9/11 ppl havent even been checked before entering planes, or in some more secure airports maybe metal detector
90s and early 2000s was a great time really.
Siempre lo he dicho.
Siembra vientos y recoge tempestades.

1:17 I thought that bird was something else.

There's something about pre 9/11 New York that is so mystical
0:07 while in ps2 version the logo showed up was dma and renderware
No he ido a Nueva York, de hecho ni siquiera he salido de mi país, pero he jugado GTA III y no se porqué, pero me da una nostalgia increíble, como si fuera algo que hubiera vivido, es hermoso
No overweight people, no feminists, no trans bullshit... Such beautiful time!.🎉

It was a beautiful time to exist… i wish i was born earlier
The theme song of Grand Theft Auto 3 captures the 90s feel of NYC very well. Even today, I’ve put it to the test, it really feels like NYC.
much love for New York City from Moscow
Stranger in Moscow
thank god it’s may, not september
May?
Such an iconic track and great footage. The music gives me Tomb Raider 2 Mansion music vibes after hearing it again.
This edit can be easily the intro of a serie, good video ❤
Was waiting for the good part...
Planes in gta 3 was such a good addition to the overall series
Why? Can't even drive them.

I can't watch this without thinking about how life was back then. That bird at 1:16 made me tense up hard.
Gta 3 and 4, both Liberty City Games, have such good soundtracks and eary sound design. You cant hear that in modern games anymorem
@Wizz245 Did not play it yet.
1:17 this bird really scared me for a second, holy
I want to be 8 Years old again xD
I thank my parents, they were so cool and let me play this masterpiece in this age.
The sad part is that 4 months later, all of those people in this footage would witness a very horrific tragedy
3 months and 15 days later…☠️😓
Fits so well
Kinda sad a lot of people are only paying attention to 1:17 and not the overall importance of how this video showcases the beauty of the Twin Towers in their prime and normality of the pre 9/11 world.
"There´s something bad about to happen" ~
When the bridge isn't closed because of terrorists yet and you can go everywhere on the map at the beginning of the game
there's something about those towers that create a powerful unease. gives me the chills every time i see them. Never Forget.
I love this track😊it is associated with Manhattan
This song gives vibes of loneliness and nostalgia, as well as a feeling of freedom.
especially if we know GTA3, we know that Claude is quiet and gets carried away by anyone, he would do anything for money.
the song represents it very well
The world is never be like this again
You can try
Maybe not in America. But I can tell you 1 thing if you go outside america specially alot asia developing countries people are alot more into outdoor activities rather than on internet cancelling each other.
That's a good thing.
Cant wait for the next GTA based on NYC...in 163839 years
When the world was in peace, the USSR was no more existing, Russia started to get better than during the 90s, and had good relations with the West.
