We don’t have the automated wheelchair restraints here in Sacramento. Do they work well??

Oh wow yeah here in Metro Detroit SMART got these Quantum automatic wheelchair systems a couple years ago due to covid. Yes they work well but the only issue is that when passengers have bags on the back of their wheelchair it doesn't secure their chair because the restraint arm isn't long enough. So they have to make sure their wheelchair is all the way back against the back rest bag free so it'll be properly locked in place. Also with this automated wheelchair restraint system the passengers are facing the rear of bus in case of an accident so they won't fly forward and so if the driver hits the brakes hard they won't fly forward. Some passengers doesn't like facing the rear of bus because everyone is looking at them or their looking at someone it can be uncomfortable for some people

@@jeremiahgotkeys That makes sense! So many people have lots of bags hanging off their chairs so I can see how that can be an issue..also shows that the people who design public transit equipment are really not aware of what really goes on out here in the field!
