The problem is not Stafford. It all starts with McVay and his calls. He always sends Williams through the middle or short passes to Puca or Kupp. He doesn't know how to play Tutu, Robinson or the tight ends. Even the smallest child in Kindergarten knows McVay's plays and the order in which he is going to send them. Stafford is very brave and takes responsibility, but it is McVay who is to blame. McVay needs a real OC
Watch every play where Tutu motions. Staff always looks at him as his primary, every single time! That's because they can't jam him at the line and whoever is covering him, in man, has to navigate traffic to get to him AND whoever is covering that area, in zone, has an instant overload. That's how Tutu keeps getting schemed so far open... Kyren keeps getting those calls to set up play action. Those plays work reasonably well when they add an extra blocker (TE or Puka). Add to that how Kyren runs (extremely patient) when he gets to pick his spot to run through, and they keep getting decent runs up the middle. McVay's biggest problems are going back to the well one too many times when a play works AND he really believes that this line can protect Staff for over 5+ seconds...
Kupp and stafford looks hurt again. Stafford at his great age and taking so many hits with an offensive line that kept getting hurt and struggling really led to him probably getting injured. Kupp hasn’t looked like he did in the bills game.
Linemen win games!!! Play calling needs to improve. If your Oline is 50% then don't run plays in the A and B gaps. Use your Tight Ends, Higbee is back as well. That gets you the 1 on 1 that frees up Puka, Cooper, Atwell and Robinson. Plus when you target TE's it move linebackers and that opens the run game and a balanced offense. Defense is great, but Witherspoon needs to never let someone get behind him.
The gotta find a way to make their offense more efficient and effective because relying on the defense will be more difficult when facing elite offense, your gonna need the offense to score either to keep up or to keep the possession time going to keep the defense fresh. Possession time of the offense is a major key to winning in the playoffs also.
Now that we will have 2 weeks to prepare for our opponent in the playoffs, I definitely think the Rams will be a challenge for anyone in the playoffs. ThexRams could win the Super Bowl again.
All the speed in the world and Tutu gets outmuscled at the line & downfield. If he can't avoid the jam at the line, he's always muscled off his route. Watch every time that Tutu motions & see who Staff locks on as his primary...
