Just had my first new years outside of the Philippines and it was so tame, albeit the gorgeous fireworks presentation. I miss this chaos! In the Ph, you can really feel the New Year because everyone is making a racket - fireworks, firecrackers, loud music, loud honks, horns and trumpets, pots and pans, empty cans - literally anything that can cause loud noises! And that’s coming from every household because we believe it drives bad spirits away and welcomes good luck! Gosh I miss that kind of celebration.

Thousands of people who don't know each other and producing a breathtaking firework display that spans across the city skylines and the entire country. I hope the Department of Tourism would promote this celebration as one of the reasons to visit the country on New Years.

@@lj7804 This was captured at Jazz in Makati. But, truthfully, any hotel or apartment complex with a skyline view of Manila (say, 20th flr and above) and a balcony will work just fine.
It's even crazier once you went to the street. Motorcycle engine noices, firecrackers, homemade cannons (this is illegal btw), horns (hand held, air horn, vehicle horns), pots and cauldron banging, cars dragging steel tubs etc. It's super loud. Still not as crazy as back in the day when firecracker regulation is still loose

Its been 12 years not celebrating NYE back home and nothing beats my HomeLand.
Same thoughts here. Abu Dhabi may have Sheikh Zayed Festival, Ras Al Khaimah may have the longest organized pyros, Dubai has Burj Khalifa but nothing beats the chaotic, deafening and amazing fireworks and firecrackers in the whole Metro Manila hood. Nakaka miss ang Pilipinas.

What do you get when have unregulated and unsupervised firework use? A piece of ART! This is what we call a "chaotic order". Thousands of people who don't know each other and producing a breathtaking firework display that spans across the city skylines and the entire country. I hope the Department of Tourism would promote this celebration as one of the reasons to visit the country on New Years.

@@lj7804 This was captured at Jazz in Makati. But, truthfully, any hotel or apartment complex with a skyline view of Manila (say, 20th flr and above) and a balcony will work just fine.

It's even crazier once you went to the street. Motorcycle engine noices, firecrackers, homemade cannons (this is illegal btw), horns (hand held, air horn, vehicle horns), pots and cauldron banging, cars dragging steel tubs etc. It's super loud. Still not as crazy as back in the day when firecracker regulation is still loose
