Enjoyed your review. I was thinking what is the best “Hulk Out”? surprisingly the number one hulk out for me is in the episode “Married” where is was caused by a nightmare. The images of David’s new wife boarding the bus with the grim reaper was so good. The slow buildup of music and imagery becoming more and more bleak towards his eventual hulk out was just fantastic!!!
I really enjoy the episodes you highlighted, and my favorite (outside of the pilot) is The Snare... probably the closest you'll see to a Hulk vs. Kraven the Hunter story. It's a very intelligent story and shows Banner using his smarts for outwitting an opponent. I also enjoyed 747 for the final Hulkout where David tries to control the transformation while piloting the plane. And finally, for an offbeat/humorous episode, I like Stop the Presses! A good science fiction drama always has a good comic relief episode here and there, and this is one of them.
5) Deathmask (On the surface, it's a typical episode. But I love that darker, almost Silence of the Lambs-esque tone of it, the extended interview and back-and-forth game of wits between David and the Detective, played by Gerald McRaney who is always great but really knocks it out of the park in this episode). 4) Married (Some of my favorite stories from the comics are those where Banner faces off against The Hulk within the landscape of his own psyche...and this episode has that conflict on display in a big way. It's also one of Bixby's top performances of the series, and just a great, gutwrenching story overall. Not to mention the shots of Lou holding Carolyn as she passes is both heartbreaking and beautifully shot). 3) Mystery Man (for the same reasons you pointed out. And it's also notable for being the episode in which Mcgee finds out that there is a man who transforms into the Hulk. A man he has come to know and respect as a result of their trials in the forest. It changes the whole Mcgee/Hulk dynamic for the rest of the series). 2) The Psychic (Definitely Bixby's strongest performance of the series. And the eerie foreshadowing of Bixby's own life and ex-wife (and guest star) Brenda Benet's own tragic end by suicide shortly thereafter just gives the episode even more weight, albeit an unfortunately unintended and ironic weight). 1) The Pilot (for all the reasons you listed, and I love the tonal parallels and visual callbacks to the classic Universal Monster movies. It was much more of a classic monster movie than a superhero movie, and I loved that about it)
I started to view The Psychic episode. The preview shows a scene where his ex wife says: "Suicide is not the answer". I couldn't watch the episode after hearing her say that.
mierpub8lam At the end of the episode her character hugs David and has a vision of his future. We don’t get to see the vision but we can see from her face as she struggles to hold back tears that it’s definitely not a good one. Looking back on it in a historical context, It’s almost like she saw the pain Bixby himself was soon going to have to cope with, losing his child and the mother of that child shortly thereafter, followed by his terminal illness. It’s an eerie moment on many levels.
Thanks for the review. I'm currently rewatching the series and had forgotten all about The Dark Side episode. All of your 5 picks are great episodes. A few of my favorites are The First, The Psychic, The Snare, Married, and the pilot.
My top 5: 5: A Child In Need/ Alice In Disco Land. Both shared 5th place as both explored difficult issues that even now is rare to see in television shows. 4: Stop The Presses. I love good lighthearted episodes. 3: Homecoming. 2: Proof Positive. Another thing you don't see often enough. Episodes focusing on the antagonist's point of view. 1:The Incredible Hulk Pilot. For years I wondered why I was always drawn to the Hulk, Jekyll and Hyde, or anything that had a character with an alter ego. It turns out, that I have a variation of a split personality disorder that I was only subconsciously aware of.
Pilot The First Prometheus Harder They Fall Terror in Times Square/Mystery Man ( for me it’s a tie only cuz i used to like the scenes of the Hulk running in NYC)
Where u from man? South Africa?? U sound like it. My favorite Hulk episodes are starting from 5 are Final round, A child in need, The beast within, Prometheus, and death mask being my favorite. All these episodes show the hulk displaying his strength very well and I liked the look of the hulk in the first three seasons, after season 3 he looked too soft and with a very very large fright wig.
@@RationallySkeptical He's just not familiar enough with the various accents to distinguish between them. If that make one stupid, then we're all stupid. There's also some mixture that I can't quite identify.
My top 5 are: 5. "A Child in Need" 4. "Prometheus" 3. "The Psychic" 2. "Married" aka "Bride of the Incredible Hulk" 1. "The First" Honorable mentions would be: "Interview with the Hulk", "Mystery Man", "The Snare", "747", and "Escape from Los Santos".
Those stock footage shots were very common from the 1960-1980s. In fact, not just in TV, but in movies as well. Particularly in large scale disaster movies, and before miniature sets and computer processing became advanced enough to replace a lot of it.
5) tie - Proof Positive/Homecoming 4) Mystery Man pts 1& 2 3) The Confession 2) Triangle 1) the pilot Having said all that, my favorite Hulk out is in part 2 of The First when Banner sees his cure shattered in front of him. The First is a solid two parter, but I kind of feel like, as with the later tv reunion movies, it departs from the more realistic tone of the rest of the show and becomes more comic bookish in a way that wasn't necessary.
The most ironic thing about this series is that women 18-49 were its biggest audience demo, then men 18-49, then boys 12 and younger etc. Anyway for my list: 1. Pilot 1 and 2. 2. Promethus 1 and 2. 3. The First 1 and 2. 4. The Snare. 5. Homecoming.
I watched the series with my family in Bargoed, near Caerphilly from the very start. The pilot was aired in the UK on Friday the 26 of May 1978. I think the episode ''Married'' is very good.
@@brianpearson4325 No, Married is the episode where he met the woman who had a fatal condition ( I think cancer ). The Revenge Of The Incredible Hulk I believe ended with him falling to his death.
5. Death In The Family 4. Dark Side 3. 747 2. Mystery Man 1. Pilot My 2 favorite hulkouts are the second one in 747 when he's landing the plane and the third one in Death In The Family where David is attacked by a bear
Though Proof Positive and Dark Side (esp Dark Side) are great episodes, they definitely do not beat out Married or The First. But it is your favorite episode so how can I argue with that. Homecoming was another great episode. If it interest you check out my Incredible Hulk Rock Opera based on the pilot episode - you may find it amusing. ruclips.net/p/PL8NMu3EjffbJ4qOO4zl1bKbesFn78so-n
5-The First...Hulk vs Hulk...4-Prometheus...Lou's longest screen time as the Hulk...3-747...the 2nd Hulkout with Bill in increasing amounts of Hulk makeup...2-The Waterfront Story...if for no other reason, Sheila Larkin tied up in a warehouse, and 1, of course, the pilot...
I didn't care for this last movie. And without Bixby portraying his iconoc character again I understand completely why the project for another movie was scrubbed, he was and still is irreplaceable .
Killer Instinct is a fun one especially when he's running down the field shoving the players out the way and the commentators carry on calling the action.
Mi Top Five: 1.The Psychic (con lo premonitorio que fue protagonizando lo con la madre de su único hijo) 2.Interview With The Hulk 3.Homecoming 4.Pilot 5.Married
Is that what you think the government would do, look for a cure? They'd use him for a guinea pig and try to weaponize it. We learned that much from the Hulk movies.
@@krane15 I never saw the movies. I would've thought it would be difficult to weaponize the Hulk, and the authorities would be more concerned with the wanton destruction of private property and possible endangerment of human life. I suppose that's just naive.
1. The First
2. Interview with The Hulk
3. Prometheus
4. Mystery Man
5. Married
Proof Positive is my favorite. The end when they catch a glimpse of Banner is so mysterious and stuff.
My top episodes:

4_ Pilot
3_ Mistery Man
2_ Prometheus

No. That is Deathmask. Broken Image is the David Banner lookalike Mike Cassidy episode.
Deke DaSilva the first?

Why couldn't Banner do the responsible thing and turn himself in? He could search for a cure in a secured facility.
Because there would never be a show and also they most likely would do experiments on him and eventually kill him and Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk was cancelled because of high production cost.

I'm not English, I work weekends and I don't play video games. As an analysis goes that was way off.
