- I made this video to help with the sale of my CLK350 Sport. The car sold so quickly however, I didn't get chance to finish editing the video before it had gone.

M276 is the cgi version with direct injection and 292 or 306hp. The m272 in the clk has 272hp
I have a clk 280 sport, 55k miles. Absolutely love it. Great summer car.
Love this car bought mine brand new and can't bring myself to part with it .Done only 6,000 miles on a 57 plate and has spent most of its life in the garage so is still in prestige condition. One day it will become a classic.
Great video! Jut came across this. CLKs are great cars. I have an '04 CLK500 cabriolet with the AMG dress package and it runs like a demon! Not a sports car but a great combo of class and performance. Thanks for sharing on your channel! John
Great video mate - keep up the good work. I've had a few clks over the years including a 99V 320 sport cab, if I remember rightly if you point the remote key fob at the drivers door handle , keep your finger on open button, all the windows come down and the roof opens.

I finally got my white 2009 280CLK Sport Cab on the road today after nearly a year’s part time work putting it right. I must admit that your video had a bearing on my purchase, although I’m feeling the sting of the £709 per annum road tax😢

Thanks mate for this excellent post - I thoroughly enjoyed the footage and commentary. I suffer the car buying affliction (passion) myself, so I get it! I'm now reviewing these beautiful convertibles, as I have just purchased a 2009 CLK280 (with full AMG Pack) Convertible with only 15,000 kms (9,000 miles) on the clock. Slightly smaller 3.0L V6, but equally smooth and "buttery". Auto Transmission is so silky, the changes are almost undetectable - beautiful engineering. Sound insulation with the top up is extraordinary - feels/sounds like a hardtop coupe till you drop the top to let in the sun. Roof engineering and insulation is indeed a work of art. My spec is almost identical to yours - though Cubanite Silver with classic black leather interior and wood trim. Great buying for a full 4 x seat convertible and a delicious (last of series) design I have always admired. Thanks again! Ps. I hate driving with the top down and windows up also...not a great look is it :-)

I honestly don't think there is anything to choose between the 280 and 350 in everyday driving. A friend has a C280 and it feels almost identical in engine performance.

Hi, I was looking at a 2006 CLK 350 convertible with 85,000 miles and it has a check engine code the guy is selling it for $6000, Because of your video explaining the problem with the timing chain gears I woke up and immediately decided not to buy it. Thanks for that information
Very nice car!!! I have a 2008 coupe. It calls my attention the central console. Mine came with one very different. It has a sliding door and 2 cup holders. I thought all 08 and 09 had this central console
Yes.......great cars...mine is a 2008 mystic red 350 sport...had the bonnet tastefully louvered to take the bland look off it ..the headlights replaced with DRLs and quad exhausts fitted just this month....love it !! Not cheap to run but worth every penny !!
Hi if you don’t mind me asking, where did you find the quad exhaust, and what bumper did you use? I know the clk350 doesn’t have a adjustable exhaust system so I am trying to figure it out, thank you

Nice video. The sensor is always broken on these cars. However it takes like 30 min to fix if you can just do a little solder. Fixed mine and it has worked nicely ever since.
That one worked until I did the video. In fact, opening and closing the roof I did by laying next to it pointing the key at it. If you look carefully you'll see my hand through the rear wheel
I've got a clk 220 CDI 2005 diesel that I've selling. Current mileage:145k.
Needs a bit of work...a full service but it still drives nicely. Black leather seats, heated front seats, parking sensors.
I've put it up for £1200.
Nice vid. I have the AMG version (yes, a real one not a fake badge) and it's pretty much identical. Such a great all GT rounder and fab to get 4 people in for a day out on a sunny day.
I absolutely cannot rule out owning a CLK63 (or 55) at some point in the future. I truly believe that the CLK is one of those 'best kept secrets', unless you've had one, you will never know how good they truly are. Now that I have my proper AMG (S202 C43), I can see that being a long-term keeper and I expect I'll buy something else for a daily as soon as the weather starts to turn.

M272 V6 7G Tronic, amazing underated engine if you deal with the Tumble Intake flaps problem and occasional Thermostat problem. Smoothest on the motorways that V6 is
Peak CLK is the M113 engined CLK500 with the robust 5 speed auto.
I was looking for a CLK 350 Cabriolet. Bought a 2009 CLK 550 Coupe instead.

@@superyan4100 Couldn't find a 350 I liked, I was in a rush, and the 550 was there. I hadn't intended on buying one...but decided I could probably kill myself faster with a 550The next year I bought a used E350, AWD and I drive it in a place with snow.

I like our 2008. I've seen similar on facebook market for under $3K, just need a little repair. Being a mechanic, it's not a problem for me. Recently, the dealer wanted about $1,000 just to change the transmission oil and filter. I paid $150 for the oil, filter and oil pan gasket. It even had new aluminum bolts that broke before torque spec was reached, so I replaced them with regular bolts that can handle the proper torque spec.
It actually keeps up with my 2011 Charger RT, with the 5.7 Hemi.
When I tried to use LED lights for marker lights or license place light, and it said the buld was out. So I took them back and got regular bulbs. Maybe the 2008 sees it as low amperage draw, so it thinks the light isn't working properly. IDK for sure.
For the leds, you basically need leds that have canbus. The power goes through some stuff and it makes it think that it draws 55w, sadly it probably does draw 55w, which kills one of the points of LED. But nonetheless it's still worth for the better light output.
I've got an 08 CLK 350 been fixing her up for a year now wish I could post à picture she's a red cabriolet never liked red but she's about changed my mind all I've driven in 20 years were Mercedes with the 3.5 but I've learned how to do much of the nechanical work I'd never learned without doing that
Owned an 08 E350 beautiful like new inside and out and à GLK350 all at the same time I've been working on this one. Sold the GLK not à month later an idiot ran over my E350 it WAS my baby didn't even have a door ding and it was a beautiful facelift édition so I've got the CLK now and I'm really enjoying it now that summer is here
its not an m113 what hen said, or m112 the engine that doesnt have issues, the correction is M272 which also has intake fail from broken actuator flap rods, not unreliable engine ever, otherwise the inside of the car is really just eye candy for your teenage daughter
roof down and windows up is fine for when its slightly cooler thats what air scarf is for using the roof more does it more good than not using it a all
Very pretty car. I can't justify the road tax for a car that really isn't particularly powerful or fast.
not powerful or fast..lol u obviously havent driven one or perhaps made the same mistake as most and left the switch near the gear lever in w or e setting switch it to s and try again e or w is for winter driving only

These are great cars in my opinion. I don’t have any experience of the 1.8 in any Mercedes so I couldn’t possibly comment. The only 4 cylinder Mercedes I have any experience of is an SLK230 Kompressor. Whit was a superb thing to drive but rinsed through as much fuel or perhaps more than the 350 in this video. It belonged to a friend but I sourced and collected it from Lancaster so I drove it several hundred miles. There may have been an issue with that particular car but I think that they are heavy on fuel.
I guess that if you have a 1.8 local to you and you like the car, drive it and if it’s good buy it.
If you’re concerned about the economy of it, have a look at Autotrader and check the running costs as they usually list the book figures there. They aren’t accurate I don’t think but you can bench mark them against your current cars figures to get an idea. If it’s a negligible difference between the 1.8 and 3.0 I’d pay the extra and have the v6 as it’s such a good car to drive but I guess the road tax increase and servicing costs will be substantially more over the year so you’ll need to factor that to see how it fits your budget.
Whichever engine you choose; it will have a fantastic wrapper around it if it’s a CLK!

I like my car to be serviced regularly every 10.000 mile .. I am like you not fun of the new cars. I faint them to complicate with lots of stupid sensors end boring to drive. Mos of the time in my country Albania we drive Mercedes 2.7 or 3.0 litre diesel. Never have petrol .. now in the Uk make me bit worried the expenses..
Exactly like your car in look but thought in 1.8 just for fuel economy…. I like them so much in convertible…

ISSUES?
I'm about to buy 3.2 or 3.0 and I'm a little bit not decided coz there are a better equipped 3.0's but i Heard that they are less reliable and I'm torn i hawe 3000 to spend on clk
Any advice??
Do your research on the engine and make sure the timing gears have been replaced if your looking at a 3.0 (CLK280). That said, if it were me and I had £3k budget, I'd be looking for the cleanest £2.5k car I can find and saving some money for inevitable fettling. That will put you in the old CLK with the 3.2 and 5 speed but they're still great cars. All the newer gadgets and spec are worth nothing if the car doesn't drive!

@@kreoloskar9805 I can't comment on reliability, I've had the 3.2 (in an ML320) and the 3.5 in the CLK. Both were utterly brilliant and never gave me a moment of trouble. I do a lot of preventative maintenance on my cars though so I get to have them in bits at a time to suit me rather than a time that suits a failure. 😀

@@rogenus I’m all for renewable energy and phasing out fossil fuels but I don’t think it’s feasible right now. It’s going to take a long long time to produce more efficient renewables to get to the point of all electrical vehicles. I don’t think gas car sales are going to plummet in the near future. Question. What is going to happen with 300 million gas powered vehicles when electric cars are phased in? I don’t have that answer.
