大谷翔平選手と田中真美子さんの馴れ初めについて、大谷翔平選手が囲み取材で「短いスパンで何回か会った」と話していました。
その後、webで公開されたnumberのインタビューでこう答えています。
「ジムではないんですが、練習しているときだったみたいですね。というのも僕にとってはそこが微妙なところで、彼女が『最初に会った』と言うときのことを僕は認識していなかったんです。彼女曰く『すれ違いざまに挨拶してくれた』と言うんですけど、僕はそれがどこなのか思い出せない。練習施設の中の廊下だって……でも、その次の2回目と3回目に会ったときのことはしっかり覚えています。だから、2週間ちょっとの間に3回、うち2回は会ったのを僕も覚えています（笑）」
ということで、大谷翔平選手と田中真美子さんの出会いは「練習施設で何度か会った」ことがきっかけのようです。
馴れ初めとしては、数回会ううちにだんだん会話が増えていきお付き合いへ発展したのではないでしょうか。

大谷翔平選手もこの施設を利用していたことがあるようです。
富山県スポーツ協会に所属する児童が2018年にNTCを見学した際、参加児童の1人はこんな感想を綴っていた。
《野球の大谷翔平選手と廊下ですれ違いました。「こんにちは」と挨拶をしてもらい、素晴らしい選手ほど、顔を見てしっかりと挨拶ができるんだと思いました》
また、田中真美子さんは2020年から2021年頃に、バスケットボール女子日本代表チームの候補として味の素ナショナルトレーニングセンターでの強化合宿に度々参加していたそうです。
これらの状況から、大谷翔平選手と田中真美子さんの馴れ初め・出会いは味の素ナショナルトレーニングセンターで間違いなさそうですね。
