  • Make sure to check out Jellyfin's website for official documentation. Jellyfin is totally usable without hardware acceleration. But if you want to use hardware acceleration, you'll need to have a Synology NAS with an Intel CPU. This video will show you how to get Jellyfin going with hardware acceleration as well as check to make sure it's actually working and using your iGPU. Well worth the extra effort if you have an Intel CPU.
Make sure to check if there have been any updates to Jellyfin regarding hardware acceleration. As of a few months ago, 10.8.11 is the latest version of Jellyfin that will properly use hardware acceleration (intel quicksync video). Any version after that will have problems with tone mapping hdr videos until Synology updates their kernel (look I have no clue what that means) or Jellyfin is able to fix the issue. There may also be a solution using the Linuxserver.io Jellyfin image.
I promise the video is only 15 minutes of install and then another 5 of me rambling.
