I think it's terrible when family members publicly turn on each other like this. But many people in the media loved it when it was Trump's or Kennedy's family doing it, so it's fair game at this point. If people were ever sincere in their beliefs of placing family bonds above politics, then Patti Davis (Ronald Reagan's daughter) would have been as easily forgotten as the Bush and Obama daughters. The cold truth is simply this: *it's election season.* As such, it doesn't matter if it's team Trump or team Harris, if family melodrama works against you, you try to neutralize its effects by pretending to love everyone regardless of their politics. This is what various media outlets are trying to do right now --it's an extremely cynical game. After all, just look at the panelists on the View, and ask yourselves if they aren't speaking with forked tongues in this episode. These ladies are now acting as if they are themselves the voices of civility and understanding, when they are famous/infamous for the exact opposite reasons.

Sunny, with all due respect… once your children are grown, you can’t force them to like, let alone love each other. People, especially siblings grow apart for many reasons, you cannot control children once they’re adults. If they don’t like each other and don’t want to speak or have a relationship, get over it.

I understand where you’re coming from but I do think it is the job of the parents to encourage that the siblings get along. When the parents get in the middle of it or two sides or just look the other way, it only encourages the divide. and the longer you go without speaking or holding a grudge the harder it is to ever get that relationship back. I miss my sister. I wish we were still close like we were growing up.
@@HH-gv8mx I’m sorry you miss your sister, maybe there’s still hope for your relationship. I on the other hand, am content to never speak to my only sibling for as long as we live. There isn’t anything my mother can say or do to remedy the situation between us. As a matter of fact, she’s living a more peaceful life because we aren’t in contact anymore. I was also close with my sibling growing up, our relationship didn’t become toxic until we were full blown adults. I haven’t spoken to him in nearly four years and I’m in a better place because of it. No regrets at all. If he died tomorrow, the only person I would feel for is my mother. Parents should not intervene when their adult children don’t get along. Guilt trips and forcing relationships between your adult children is just plain selfish, and unhealthy.
Nobody else finds it funny that sunny is saying how bad it is for waltz and his brother to go public with the disagreement, but she had no problem when Fred Trump was on their show trashing Trump? I’m a gay brown immigrant who has lived in this country his entire life. I think it’s so comfortable when Sarah or Alyssa get to say they don’t try to convert their friends and family because at the end they’ll be fine. My literal existence and right to live and be a full human being depends on these politicians. It’s not that easy and privileged for all of us. I wish they’d understand that.
And then we’ve got Trump packing the Supreme Court with anti-gay and anti woman justices who are feverishly trying to dismantle women’s rights and take away gay marriage

We were 22 siblings, now 20 of us living, most with their own adult children. There are some who can't stand one another, they might say hi to one another if they see at funerals or weddings, but will not speak to one another year in and out.
Our father married our two mothers that bore us siblings, so this contributes to the tensions, too.

Everyone has a family member they dislike, like a jealous brother or nephew. But Tim Walz is a good man. I am a man of mixed race, but I can see that he is a good person. He reminds me of my uncle, and he has an impressive résumé. You can look him up on Google or Wikipedia. He is an honest man who cares about everyone, regardless of their differences, like who they love. This man is genuine, confident, and loves America. As for his brother, he has the right to his own opinion, for example, he can vote for Trump in the elections if he chooses.

Sunny would dig in and resolve things between her kids, because that's a mother's role and she's a dignified mother. If a mother or parent is staying out of it, they are probably the root cause and just do not want to participate in the reality of their part. Let's not be so dismissive of emotional abuse and family trauma, because it is extremely prevalent. You can "stay out of" the after affects of your behavior, but that does not sound noble and just or like a loving parent to me.
I have two brothers. One I haven’t spoken to for more than 25-years, the other I haven’t communicated with for approximately 2-years AND My Life Is BETTER OFF Without THEM! Good gave me friends as an apology for giving me dysfunctional family.

Ana Navarro's statement was very ignorant. There are people whose own children are coming out for the opposite party. Calling them names only contributes to a toxic environment, causes estrangement, and ensures they won't listen. I don't support people personally criticizing their own family in public. It's okay to publicly criticize their policies but, RFK's family, Fred and Mary, and Jeff Waltz all went about it the wrong way.
In democracy, people vote for policies, individual freedom- not for cult leaders and dynasties.
Family stuff like this only happens for two reasons: Jealousy between siblings and parents pitting children against one another earlier in life.

Unfortunately I am one of those who's family is broken up with an Uncle. I admired and respected that uncle until he voted for Trump a second time and even after Jan 6th he was still excusing him and saying that he liked his conservative policies. I asked which ones!!!!! But he couldn't answer and in fact what he blurted out was "Hilary"- no joke. It was sad to witness because Trump does not represent not even a modicum of conservative values and it made me wonder what really lies beneath that support of Trump. My uncle is not stupid; he is an educated, middle class, middle aged man. I lost a lot respect for him that day and we haven't spoken since.

What a waste. I am still friends and family with conservatives who support trump and there has been no issues at all with their personality or attitude. Its just politics and it little nothing to do with their character. Ironically its the friends and such I have that are on the left that have changed and become more critical of others. They've become mean, colder, more hateful. Which I honestly found baffling since I didn't expect that from them. I don't know why or how but politics did change them, they made it a part of their identity now they judge others based on that and even cut ties with others friends or family based on that. I'm independent so I have no leanings thus have no bias to either side. Both sides have many flaws, both sides have good points and policies but both are not representative of what we all need as a whole. However being able to look from the outside in the left just feels so much more brutal, authoritarian, cold-hearted to be able to just throw your family friends and life partners away based on politics not even the person you love them for. While the right seems to be more tolerant, they remain in your life but they speak out more freely on how they think. I myself use to be more quiet even as an independent but got tired of being silent. When I spoke out on any opinion I had none dumb just actual questions, the friends on the left almost all went away. Those on the right all of them stayed and answered those questions I had about them and still remained friends even with disagreements on some things. For the left all it took for some was one question they never even answered to leave after so many years of friendship. I feel like its backwards on who is more tolerant but I guess even I thought badly of the right subconsciously I guess. But I was wrong.
Sorry my boring experiences may not be something you care about but my point is, politics should never keep you away from someone. Be it as a friend, best friend, romantic partner, or family. There are only two parties, its not like there is a choice of many. You can love and respect someone and just leave them for a belief? That is a very sad existence to have, to only surround yourself with people of your own politics, your own ideas, your own everything. You won't grow. Not mentally, not with ideas, not with understanding other peoples opinions, not with people, not in anything. You confine yourself into a bubble to just be angry at anyone outside of that bubble you'll never even open up to and miss out on many great people.
