Had this happen to us.. while on the phone with these scammers my hubby called the Cruise line directly from the number we had on file from his cell phone.. they told us to hang up.. it’s not them.. so we played with the Scammers for a good 40MIn before they finally hung up.. they did threaten to cancel the cruise.. i said ok go ahead.. they asked for the booking number.. said you must have it you called me.. so I’m not giving you any information.. you should have it all. I also offered to pay them with my Card on file at the Cruise line.. he goes.. ok but we have to confirm it.. so i said go ahead I’ll let you know if it’s the right one.. read it to me.. that’s when they hung up.. LOLOL
These scammers spend (use) their intelligence in such nefarious endeavors; Imagine if they used it for good. I know I live in a dream world but I continue to wishnupon a star.
That happened to me too. I asked why it showed the name and they said they were calling from home. I started laughing and said it was my number and they definitely weren't in my home
@@Keep-on-ok I never give my info out. I don’t even post vacation pictures until I get home. Not going to make it easy on the thieves by letting them know my house is empty. We just can’t be too careful today.
The cruise lines would never remind you to pay the remaining balance you owe for your cruise because it would only be to their benefit if you don't pay it and then forfeit everything you already have paid and got your cruise cancelled.
Scammers are everywhere just be careful thanks for the info Don my husband and I had to change our bank accounts back this summer from a scammer trying to get our info luckily the bank caught it for us.
Many people post on Facebook about upcoming vacations and give out loads of information, which could give enough info to scammers to target You. If you want to talk about how great it was after that, it might be ok
The scammers are out in full force. I got a text the other day saying i owe money for unpaid tolls .i don't use any toll roads or highways. It got deleted immediately. So people do need to be careful
I got the same txt about owing for tolls saying if payment wasn’t made that day I would lose my DL. I know I don’t use any toll roads so I deleted right away!
My Norwegian personal cruise consultant always calls me a few days before my final payment date to collect my credit card information. But, her name is Lexy, she’s in my phonebook, and I recognize her voice.
I signed up for a specific date FB cruise group and received a call from a scammer. In reading your comment I realize that was probably the start on how they found out I was even booked on the cruise. I will never do that again.
If I had the time, I would play dumb for as long as possible, without providing any information, to try and keep them from scamming somebody else. If I don't have the time, I would just speak French to them and listen to them repeat everything several times as they go through the script.
We get those emails and calls everyday. When it's to good to be true. It usually is, we only go through our TA. He gets us a good price every time. Its sad, people prey on people like that.
If someone calls you claiming to be from a cruise line or your credit card company, always hang up on them and call the cruise line and/or your credit card company directly using the phone number on the company's website and/or on the back of your credit card.
It’s so frustrating. Not only cruises but everyday life. I called my bank last week. They handled my needs. Bout 20 min later. The “bank “ supposedly called me. I could barely understand what he was saying. Kept asking if I was me. Asked what is this about. He says he can’t tell me unless I confirm it’s me. I remembered the tip of never say yes cuz scammers record you saying yes. I hung up. Called the bank back and they said they did not call me and was relieved I gave no info. My question is where is the breach? Whoever called me knew I just called the bank. I think a lot of scammers are inside jobs. It’s sick.
One simple rule, trust NOBODY and VERIFY EVERYTHING. if you’re discussing this with someone then do not give them your info. Tell them to add the charges to your invoice and you will see it there and pay it if it appears.
Many of us wonder how people can be duped into these scams and myself always say I’ll never be phone scammed but I got close! I really clued in just before he hung up on me after his 3 r d call. So it can happen be on guard everytime .
Just fyi, as a cruise consultant for a different Cruise line it is part of my responsibility to contact guests that have missed their final payment date or have a balance due. So it is dependent on the cruise line.
When our phone rings, if we don't recognize the name or it says spam risk, we let the machine pick it up!! We haven't yet sailed with Carnival, so right off, we wouldn't answer it.
How is client information being obtained?? Not a good reflection on the system security of the cruise lines. Yet their prices and fees continue to increase. Those in the US should report these attempts to the FTC's report fraud site or to the donotcall site.
I had scammers pretending to be MSC trying to over charge me for gratuities . It should have been 160 dollars per person and they said 300 dollars per persons and that it would be more on the cruise. Somehow they had my booking number smdh. The only reason I didn’t fall for it was because it wasn’t my first time booking with MSC.
Legitimate callers will leave a voice mail. If they leave a number, do not use it. Go to the cruise line and call them directly with a number that is legit.
Don, as a Canadian Travel agent is there a government or Provincial Agency that Canadian Citizens could call to verify your information if they suspect it's a scam call?
I love your videos, Don, and I appreciate them very much, but the more I watch them, the more I am against travelling nowadays. Too many delays, too many problems, too many scams and just so much hassle. I hope your videos are not impacting your business badly. I have lost my love of travelling abroad. My beautiful and safe home and my local activities, seem the only places I want to be as of late. Enjoy your cruise :)
SOLUTION : Don assumes he will be stopped every airport & arrives 3 hours early. The security guy can do his job, and no need to worry about missing the flight or ship, because he will be plenty early .
I really think that it has unfortunately gotten to the point where Don needs to add two days/nights, in a hotel room, into his travel plans just in case he is detained by TSA.
People can get your cruise information from your Facebook post and then get information from your profile. I don't ever give exact dates of our travels or ships. Scammers are very clever ..

Thanks for keeping us informed. I hope security will leave you alone on your trip home.
Please remind them to never give the booking number!! Love your videos!!
It's a scary world out there. Many seniors would not know the difference
So many criminals in this world. Thx for keeping us updated.
So many scammers. Be very careful careful. Thanks for keeping us informed
Glad you made it to the ship.
It is snowing in Pensacola, Florida
When the scammers call, question them. They always hang up.
Don, do get me started with the half off cruises 🤨
These scammers spend (use) their intelligence in such nefarious endeavors; Imagine if they used it for good. I know I live in a dream world but I continue to wishnupon a star.
I said the same thing about using their knowledge for good instead of harming people.
If they had intelligence they would get a real job within the law.
I’m so tired of getting scam emails, texts and calls. Our phone rang one day and it was actually our own number that showed up on the caller I’d.
That happened to me too. I asked why it showed the name and they said they were calling from home. I started laughing and said it was my number and they definitely weren't in my home
Just don’t give them any information.

Thanks for keeping on top of these scams
Always good to bring these up every once in a while! Thanks Don!
Congratulations Don, on reaching 200,000 subscribers! All the best...
The scammers rely on a certain part of the population who fall for this sort of thing. My motto is "Don't trust anyone".
People still buy timeshares
I don't even trust myself.
@@mb751z Neither do I.
Great points!!! Thanks for sharing 😇🛳️🛳️

Hi Don, Thanks for the updates. So much scam these days.
Never ending scammers
Thank you, Don, really a great tip and point. there are scammers everywhere so please people be very cautious.
Thanks Don good luck with travel no more security stops for the year I hope.
Congratulations on reaching 200,000!🎉
Agree the calls and texts are getting ridiculous!
Thanks for reminding ua of a number of Scammer tactics.
Your good advice is always helpful.
Thank you so much Don!
Thanks Don.
Don,so glad to see you are on the ship. And, you look very rested. Thanks for the reminder about scams.
Thanks for keeping us up with scams
You are looking much better today. Enjoy your trip, travel safe.❤😊

Thanks for the info.
So sad that so many people get scammed.
You are the man Don! Great video!
Glad you didn't have to fly in today! First snow in Houston and Galveston in years!
Many people get taken in by these scammers. I check everything out or ignore it. Sad that others get caught out.
Good to see you in a better state after the disaster travel. I have 3 cruises this year and now you have me paranoid on my next trip lol.
The scammers are out in full force. I got a text the other day saying i owe money for unpaid tolls .i don't use any toll roads or highways. It got deleted immediately. So people do need to be careful
That one is pretty silly as the states don’t send text (how would they have your number). Instead they send a bill in the mail.
I got the same txt about owing for tolls saying if payment wasn’t made that day I would lose my DL. I know I don’t use any toll roads so I deleted right away!
Keep up the good work don. Than you for the info.
Thank you for the information!
Great info and advice. Thanks Don!
To many scammers praying on anyone they can

200K - way to go Don
There are cruise specific fb groups. It would be easy to access the group, obtain passenger names, and they have the sail dates.
I signed up for a specific date FB cruise group and received a call from a scammer. In reading your comment I realize that was probably the start on how they found out I was even booked on the cruise. I will never do that again.

So you must have made your cruise! 👍 That was a close call!!!

When it is to good to be true…be careful. Thanks
Yes my sister got scammed didn't realize she was in a scam until FBI showed up. Boy did she feel dumb. Of course she gave them all her emails texts.
Cruise ship paasengers are a target the minute they disembark. If they're not ripped off online they will be onboard with all the extra charges.
Congratulations on 200k subscribers love the shows for 5 years now 🎉🥳

Ask them for your confirmation number as well.
Scammers keep getting more creative, unfortunately. Need to stay on our toes constantly.
Glad everything worked out on your trip. Did you get your upgrade?

A great agent is Cruise Specialists in Seattle. You’re welcome! We work with Teresa.
That’s because Carnival is selling our information.

When in doubt, hang up and call the cruise line directly. Never click on a link or automatically provide payment information.
I bet they don’t have your reservation number while carnival does
Smart criminals usually go after the low-hanging fruit.
Don't answer calls from numbers you have not saved in your phone. E-mails get nothing.
Boo scammers
Sounds like an inside job to me because how do they know Who’s going on a cruise??
Hi Don
Legitimate callers will leave a voice mail. If they leave a number, do not use it. Go to the cruise line and call them directly with a number that is legit.
I want to know how they know you have a carnival cruise scheduled? Carnival leak? Credit card leak?
Scammers target Carnival. So carnival cruisers must have more idiots compared to other cruise lines

you know you were brought to security? five hours ago the Canada got a cocaine bust. Maybe that was why you were looked at.
Is Carnival the easiest one to do?? Are the other lines being targeted?
If they don't have your information, how do they know how to call you?

Sad to say but never answer the phone. They can record your voice and use it.
I've had a few emails that are from a fake Carnival account.
And you never take a cruise with Royal Caribeean .why?
What cruise are you doing now? Enjoy! It's cold here!
Go through an agent
One more reason to work with a travel agent
Who won the gift box Don??
Only on carnival
I disagree with you Don, never ask question just hang up and call the cruise line it self.never good to engage with these people. Just my opinion.
Don what is the average price for a cruise for a balcony cabin for a day cruise?
Thanks Don
