Roland SPD One Kick long term review

- The Roland SPD One is a small, stand alone electronic percussion pad for drummers, percussionists, cajon players, even guitar players who can use them as stomp boxes. This is my SPD One Kick which I've owned for around 2 years. In that time I've played around 80 to 100 gigs with it and today I'm going to show you how it works, what it does, and even solve one of what I believe to be it's biggest problems.
For those interested I had the same issue with pad moving. After contacting Roland support I carefully peeled the pad off and then carefully cleaned up both the pedal and pad with some isopropyl alcohol and was able to reglue the pad using synthetic glue, in my case Shelly’s shoe fix..it worked well and pedal looks brand new again.
Ah interesting to hear of someone else with the same issue, glad you managed to solve it on yours, maybe I'll try that myself 🙂
James, thank you so much - I have three of these pedals, and all three have that long term problem of the pads sliding. I will try your solution, gladly!! :)
Good video. I moved the beater on the pedal to strike the floor so I can put drum pad on floor.
Thanks Chris, ah nice one mate, good solution that 👌
Thanks for the video, man! I pulled a muscle in my groin and I can't play a normal kick pedal right now, so I'm thinking of getting this to use as a kick until my leg gets better. My only questions is: How dynamic and how sensitive is it? My hope is that I can tap on it relatively softly and still get a decent kick sound through the PA. We're talking pretty simple rock drumming. No crazy fusion or anything 😅
Hi mate, you're very welcome, yeah it's pretty sensitive, it would work like you say I'm sure. You can adjust the sensitivity and threshold so yeah, no problem I reckon! Hope your leg gets better soon dude!
@@Electronicdrumtips Thanks!
Cool mod!
Thanks a lot man 🙂
Nice video - thanks! One question - am I right in thinking you can add just one sample of your own? Also, I assume you can overwrite that with new ones as you wish? (I saw a comment somewhere that it was a one-time thing but I find that hard to believe!)
You're welcome mate! Yeah unfortunately that is the case, it's just the one sound I believe, my latest video shows you how to do it, it's under 2 minutes long as it's quite straight forward. Shame you can't add more sounds though ay
@@Electronicdrumtips good to know, thanks mate! And am I right in thinking you can over-write your sample with new ones as often as you like?
Thank you.
I'm not a percussionist. I'm looking for something to do nothing more than me tap out a bass drum/cowbell/rim shot count at the intro, mid 8 or outro of a couple of songs when gigging acoustic . .... assuming I can keep time with myself .. 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 😢😂
Great review. ❤
Hey, thanks so much. So glad you found the video useful! I'm sure you'll be able to keep time with yourself haha, best of luck my friend 🙂👍
@Electronicdrumtips
Lol
I'm sure you'd count me in better. Thank you Son.. 🤝
Does this kick move while playing? I face much problem with my kd7 .
Hi mate, I put velcro under mine on a drum matt, doesn't move then 🙂
@@Electronicdrumtips thanks brother. 😊👍
Nice video
Thanks mate!
Switch your Velcro to 3M Dual Lock - you’ll thank me later! 👌
That's what I use actually mate, great stuff indeed! 🙂👌
