It's funny having watched an interview with Graham where he was asked how to get the best out of interviewees where he referenced this episode specifically, saying something along the lines of "Kevin Costner isn't interested in impressing me, but he's interested in impressing Helen Mirren." And that's how a great interviewer works.
As Ricky put it: "If this were America we'd be disguised as wolves dancing around...or doing some other shit" That's probably why you won't see Costner on those shows. Or at least not very often.
Yes! Also, I love when he reveals that his friend wrote dances with wolves that all of them are like: wow! that's amazing. Look at Ricky sitting at the tip of the couch really listening.
I love how Kevin can make a comedian like Ricky Gervais laugh out loud. I wish to see the two of them together in a movie or maybe in another chat show and they’d just make the audience laugh.
@@archieleach6071 more impressively than that is Kevin can capture his attention and keep him utterly silent. I adore Ricky and love to see a hero of mine genuinely interested in another person’s work and story, it tells you a lot about them.

I'm Aussie and remember Eric Bana well from his days as a comic on Australian T.V and what a funny bloke. I lived in the U.K during the 70's and remember well the comics of the time eg the 2 ronnies and many others and IMHO Ricky Gervaise is 1 of the best of the next generations of British/English comics.
It gave me a much greater appreciation of Kevin Costner. Awesome to see how they were all hanging on his lips. I know for a fact he really impressed Ricky Gervais which isn't an easy thing to do.
This is what a talk show should be like in America! Absolutely brilliant combination of hosts and stories. Kevin Costner’s story about the story/script for Dances with Wolves was epic.
While I adore all of Graham Norton's shows this has to be one of my all time favorites because Kevin Costner was magnificent. I could have just listened to him telling stories for hours. And with Ricky, Ewan, Helen and Eric on the sofa made it even more special. It was just a fantastic show from beginning to end. I wish this had been a 2 hour special. Hopefully Graham will have Kevin Costner back again.
Kevin Costner is one of those Hollywood actors that is just so down to Earth, he is not full of himself, and he is, to me, a role model for people like Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves is someone who is genuine, and genuinely interested in people more than his Hollywood personae. People like Keanu, and Kevin Costner, while worthwhile actors, are more content on being behind the scenes, rather than in the limelight. Kevin and Keanu are two actors that I admire.
Kevin Costner. So humble. So much honesty. So much humor. So much class. What a storyteller. We, along with those on the couch and in the audience, were all spellbound as he wove his stories from a life truly lived. What a gift. And I don’t care what anyone says, I will always love Waterworld.

This was definitely one of the best ones ever. What struck me was the picture in my mind of Kevin Costner already nervous, directing his crew on day one with his mum and dad sitting on a nearby hill watching and waving at him. He actually has a sense of humor though obviously quite shy. Also Clint Eastwood was quite early directing his own movies.
I can watch Kevin Costner for hours. He is still so dreamy. I think even Ricky was crushing on him a bit. Kevin is just a nice all around guy. Love his movies.

I heard Ricky Gervais saying that before the show Kevin Costner told him he was nervous and felt uneasy about appearing on the show. Maybe he is not used to this sort of talk shows as they don't have many of that calibre in the US. True. But the moment he goes out there he just flows after a bit of a shaky start. Dances with the wolves is a legend. in a way he was a pioneer as not too many people had done producing and acting a main character at same time...at that time . Now it is a common thing.. I remember when Whitney Houston died him being so genuinely broken and made himself available to all who looked for him to share stories with her and their closeness. And when he had the call from Hawkins and felt starstruck himself and had no clue how to talk to this man. and what to talk about. Hawkins really did show up at Costner's front door and wanted to hear Kevin talk about Whitney. I remember watching on TV in my house in America. Kevin Costner is a legend. Costner's nervousness is understandable. American talk shows aren't anything like Graham's. Guests usually come on one at a time and even when there's more than one guest at once they seldom speak to each other. Also, American talk shows are almost solely vehicles for hyping each guest's latest project. While Graham does that also, it's not the sole focus of the show. Graham seems to really care about getting to know something about his guests. Costner was probably worried about how to handle the differences. But by the end, he seems to have relaxed and gone with the flow. Like Matt Damon said to Graham during his appearance: "This is the most fun I've ever had on a talk show."

Kevin Costner was nervous, poor thing. I liked him though-super honest and humble. That Meghan blew me away! She sang the whole thing live & it sounds no different than when on the radio. Bravo!
Not sure if you were being sarcastic about Meghan. She hid her mouth with microphone the whole time she sang. I'm 80% sure she was lip-synced. Unless Graham Norton has super duper great audio system. No breath no shaking caught.

34:30 -- The thing about Costner's excellent anecdote is: the punchline is - "That story was DANCES WITH WOLVES" -- and everyone is shockingly surprised -- but they were actually talking about DWW as he went into that story! But the STORY ITSELF was so engaging that everyone forgot it was connected with DWW!
@Willa-jane's opinion I like him, but I do think its odd that he was so 'close' with extremely famous people - yet this never came out until after they died... Whitney Houston (yes, I know they did The Bodyguard together - but I never thought he would be the only one she would call to discuss her troubles - both personal and professional) Princess Diana, etc... I'm calling BS on those 'friendships' that only came to light after they were gone.
Jewel Skye he never said he was close to whitney, her family asked him to speak he didn't even want to do it, and as for Diana no one knew about it until Diana's butler revealed it in his book recently and Kevin only talks about it if asked
I remember Helen Mirren from a little ol' movie from back in the day called "Excalibur" also starring one Captain Picard as a noble trying to pull Excalibur out of the stone, and Gabriel Byrne, and even Liam Neeson.
Ricky's response to Kevin's description of Criminal "I love it already" that's because Karl came up with it years ago. The love of two brains, or the romance in a head.
This episode shows the difference between UK and US talk shows. I can't think of one US host who would give Kevin the time to tell his stories. In the US most questions are sent out beforehand so no spontaneity

i love how all these huge A list hollywood stars are so humbled by Kevin Kostner
NovumVitae it’s Costner dimwit

Nice correction, Karoline 😏👏
American, Scottish, English, Australian on one couch!
Irish host 😊
Kevin Costner was nervous, poor thing. I liked him though-super honest and humble. That Meghan blew me away! She sang the whole thing live & it sounds no different than when on the radio. Bravo!
Not sure if you were being sarcastic about Meghan. She hid her mouth with microphone the whole time she sang.
I'm 80% sure she was lip-synced. Unless Graham Norton has super duper great audio system. No breath no shaking caught.
@@budle89 You should watch meghan's carpool karaoke with James Corden. She has amazing breath control and a very clear tone when she sings. Yes she's using a backing track but im near certain she's not lip-synching.
@@stellawalker8809 singing while dancing is very different than when you are sitting down.
@@budle89 watch any of her other performances standing up and dancing then. She sings just as well and you can hear her breath so she's not lip synching
Eric Bana is a beautiful man.
Wow an amazing couch of stars! Graham always has the best chats.
Loved Ricky " it's tough being an actor ......soldiers !!!"
Love people with infectious smiles and laughs. Ricky and Ewan have it in spades. Love watching this show.
That Dances with Wolves writer story is gold.
As if the couch wasn't full of star power already....KEVIN KOSTNER!
Ricky Gervais' laugh it the best. I LUV IT
always loved K,Costner, now i just adore him as a person. absolute legend
So good to see a young lady with a band. Keep Singing
Stay Safe and Stay Free 🎉
I used to dislike Kevin Costner, but I was really impressed with this interview.
Kevin Costner's story about Michael Blake writing "Dances With Wolves" was amazing.
Trouble is he didn't write it. The book was written by a Canadian - Farley Mowat who got no credit here whatsoever.
@@gastonlaberge2119 sorry, not the same…Farley Mowat wrote “Never Cry Wolf”. Completely different.
@@gastonlaberge2119 Very wrong! Michael Blake was asked by Costner to adapt his award winning novel Dances with Wolves to a screenplay!
Ewan forgetting his lines in Star wars was hilarious the laughter is so good
The Dances with Wolves story... Lovely!
I love Helen Mirren. She’s a phenomenal actress, but funny and very down to earth, and a true timeless beauty aging naturally and gorgeously.
Wow s h e is good actress, had us all fooled!
I always remember first seeing her in prime suspect, and I was so impressed by her.
She's the real queen.
I remember Helen Mirren from a little ol' movie from back in the day called "Excalibur" also starring one Captain Picard as a noble trying to pull Excalibur out of the stone, and Gabriel Byrne, and even Liam Neeson.
She is gorgeous - decided not to have children - intelligent to boot & bc of that has a stunning figure.
Absolutely epic story told by Costner. Had me gripped on the fate of the writer
This is the BEST talk show on the earth!
Ricky's response to Kevin's description of Criminal "I love it already" that's because Karl came up with it years ago. The love of two brains, or the romance in a head.
This episode shows the difference between UK and US talk shows. I can't think of one US host who would give Kevin the time to tell his stories. In the US most questions are sent out beforehand so no spontaneity
like helllo Jimmy Fallon hahaha
Eric Baner!! Beautiful specimens!!
Eric Banner gives me heart palpitations.... he so achingly gorgeous I’m too scared to look at him for too long
Selina Ali .haha
Margaret Gust Why do you have to be mean?
@@elizabethmcleod246 coz she's an insecure bitch
The older he gets the better he looks. Totally hot
I was so hooked listening to all of Kevin Costner's stories, wow!
This show is the best thing ever
Greatest Graham show ever!!
It’s great that Dame Helen, Kevin Costner, Ewan McGregor are on the show & Ricky Gervais has top billing
Earl Hawley
Hey! Hey! Eric Bana!
Ricky drinks beer the rest water. What a man 😍😍😍
One of my most favourite episodes of Graham Norton. EVER
Bana is so gracious as a guest and friend
Eric Bana and Ewan McGregor together. Thank you, God.
Had Kevin Costner’s stories not been so great I would have been peeved about the abrupt ending. But them were some good anecdotes breh
Omg Kevin Costner! I’ve died and gone to heaven!! ❤️❤️❤️
My goodness this makes me want to cry. These stories are just so awesome man
Amazing set up of individuals, and Helen Mirren! Holy shit, not even the best of corsets could give you a body that great, she's just in fantastic nick..
With enough money anyone can get a great body
@@laurahall907 Money can't purchase her lovely personality, however.
elle hallen yes and no. You still need the discipline and motivation to work out yourself.
I could have listened to Kevin and his stories for hours
