Anyone else love watching old nail polish declutters? So many classic polishes I had forgotten about! Does your friend still only have 5 bottles or has she joined us in the glittery seats? I used to be like her!! Then I discovered that one color that unlocked a nail polish obsession that I didn't even know was in me. I probably had close to 1k polishes when you filmed this video, as of today I'm down to 76 and loving life. I don't think I'll ever have under 10 polishes again but at the same time I'll never be a complete hoarder again, the decision-paralysis was real! I'd love to get mine down another 50% but it's going to take time, right now every single bottle I have is a color I love wearing, there isn't a single one where I feel "meh" about it so downsizing is going to be a slow process.
1k! I have a little over 75 and some I only wear once a year, because my nail polish lasts more than a week. I feel like I wear polish constantly but only 1% look like I've made a dent in them lol. I can imagine the paralysis trying to choose from 1000, I get that sometimes and that's just with the 50 polishes I consider as "everyday" colours
YESS!! Just now watching this because I'd added it to my Watch Later and literally squealed when I heard my name because I didn't expect it at all! :) I adore you and your channel so much!
I have 15 bottles of nail polish not all are my favourites and i havent tried all of them but the ones i wear i usually gravitate to over and over again. All are colour except one base coat. I have learnt that nail polishes dont expire bc bacteria cant breed in the product but they have an expiration date bc of legal procedure. So you can actually keep it forever. If a nail polish is dry/gunky, it is bc some of the ingredients evaporated with time so you can add nail polish thinner if it has dried out or gone thick and gunky, the thinner just adds the evaporated ingredients back in and its as good as new. Thought id let you know for future reference :)
I have the OPI thinner and it works well (except on some glitter polishes). It does bring polishes back to life, but do you find that it dries out quicker? That’s what always happens to me. Maybe I should add more thinner? I usually only do a couple drops because I worry that too much will completely alter the formulation/viscosity/opacity 🤔🤔
aleeza / stylishandliterate i only found out about this recently so i havent tried it for myself but i do remember a polish youtuber saying thinner makes polish dry faster. When i watched videos, only a few drops were used so i think you're doing it right, it's just a side effect of thinner.
New subscriber ! I found you when looking for new declutter videos! Love declutter videos. I currently own 25 bottles of nail polish and this will help declutter those shades I don’t use much anymore.
I have maybe 120. I haven’t counted in a while. I went a little crazy for nail polish about 5 years ago when I stayed at home with my daughter, but I hardly paint my nails anymore since I work 2 jobs now. Definitely time for a declutter
Best not to count haha plausible deniability! Wow you’re busy! That’s the thing about nail polish-not so much the application, but the drying takes forever!
Great job decluttering! Whenever I do it, I feel a bit lighter and just overall happier 😊. Currently I have about 20 nail polish bottle including top coat and base coat. My goal is to have about 5 including top coat and base. This is mainly because of my job and I often just wear nail polish during special occasions and during the summer months.
Not hugely loyal to base coats-my favourite was the Sephora Formula X base coat, but it’s since been discontinued. Other than that: Essie First Base is good and the CND sticky base coat. Currently using the Sally Hansen strengthening base coat but would not recommend.
Your channel was recommended by RUclips - I think it was a decluttering video. I watched and liked your content, plus, because you are Canadian too, I knew anything you talk about I could find. I have 16 full size and 10 mini nail polishes (and one base/top coat). My nail colours are split between neutrals for my fingers and brights for my toes.
i have around ~20 or so polishes (not including base coat/top coat), but realistically only use 5-8 regularly. some colours i keep around just for pedicures, which explains the bloat of my collection. if i could afford to i would just get a gel manicure/pedi twice a month and completely get rid of all my nail polishes.
That’s the dream!!! Although I did gel manis for about a year and my nails were kind of brittle afterwards. Probably user error on my part. Plus I realized that I really enjoy changing up the colour weekly (despite the work)
Have you ever tried Kathleen Lights nail polishes before? I have been thinking about ordering some, but I wanted the opinion of someone who has tried much more nail polishes than I have.
I have not tried them! I have heard good things, though. I haven’t checked what the shipping to Canada is like, but if it is reasonable, I would probably pick up a couple shades from her seasonal collection.
Right now I have 178 (!!!!) polishes, not counting top and basecoats. I love nailpolish and wear polish every Day, thoug I’ve started wearing a new polish every 3 days at this point to go throug my collection and perhaps wheat it out a bit and hopefully get down to a hundred or less. I’ve actually thought about making a video about that, since I enjoy watching declutter videos -however I’ve never done a youtube video before, so i’m not quiet sure how to go about it...
I found you through her too! Great content! Subscribed :) I have 1 acylic wall rack of polish, so close to about 100, I'd say. I counted my purples the other day, I have 24 purples, so it's probably time to go through them. This inspired me to comb through them.
Okay, I thinned my collection last night, I went from 90+ to 60+, discarding a bit of everything. You're totally right about the Deborah Lippmann polishes. But I did keep Across the Universe, such a pretty blue glitter.
I have maybe 35 including base and top coats, and I paint my nails at least once a week so when I see colours I never reach for I get rid of them as I go, instead if in a huge declutter like this, even if this is way more satisfying 😂
aleeza / stylishandliterate never. But is not that i don't like it but i can't stand chip nails and find that mine chips really fast... Can you please recommend something or even do a video of your recommendations. 😘😘
aleeza / stylishandliterate I have a base coat and top coat, a few pinks, a purple, some copper shades, and a bright orange with a more neutral orange. Kind of all over the place, but I love them all. I could maybe live without half of them, but I don't think my collection is crazy. Yet ;)

I have 79 polishes and I wore them all last year (except 7 I got this year). I really have to plan to wear them but it is fun to reconnect with them.
Found you through Jessica, loving your channel. Just curious, do you have a favorite base coat?
Not hugely loyal to base coats-my favourite was the Sephora Formula X base coat, but it’s since been discontinued. Other than that: Essie First Base is good and the CND sticky base coat. Currently using the Sally Hansen strengthening base coat but would not recommend.
What do you do with the unwanted polishes?
If I can't donate / give it away, I end up taking them to the hazardous waste drop-off at the Waste Management facility

I found you from Jessica's channel. Beautiful nail polishes.
Hi Aleeza! Really love your channel! How did you dispose of your unwanted nail polish? Thanks!
I drop them off at my local hazardous waste collection site. They are typically located at recycling plants! Thanks for watching! X
I love the high quality of your nail polish declutter videos! So fun and relaxing to watch
287. And that’s decluttered. Loved your video and I think I saw your previous one.

About 40
That’s a nice even number! I think my goal is to get down to 30 🤔 still contemplating it
I have 11. :)
Nice! What’s your colour spread? I think if I had to choose 11 polishes, there would be 10 different shades of nude and 1 red 😄
aleeza / stylishandliterate I have a base coat and top coat, a few pinks, a purple, some copper shades, and a bright orange with a more neutral orange. Kind of all over the place, but I love them all. I could maybe live without half of them, but I don't think my collection is crazy. Yet ;)
