Thank you so much for the kind words! This is my first published game and I had a blast writing it, and I’m having even more of a blast seeing people really digging it! :D
You forgot the most genius bit. The "Rule of Carnage" if there's ever a line ball decision to be made then the option that produces the most carnage wins. Stops all that arguing about line of sight etc that is so common in miniature games
I had been searching for years for an easy entry minis game and then this came along. I am not a modeller or a painter and the simple fact I can play this with Hotwheels or Matchbox cars is brilliant. I have pimped it out a little with a playmat and some paper built scenery, but that's all I need to do. Also, because none of the plays are hidden moves (like in X Wing for example), I can play it solo as two teams, which is still a lot of fun. Great game.
Thanks for the review and the breakdown of the rules. The game is currently on sale on Amazon right now for $1.99 for the Kindle e-book or $12.91 for the paperbook shown in the video. I haven't finished reading the rules yet but I'm already excited about making up some cars, a track and then playing! I purchased a copy for a friend for his birthday as well.
I had never heard of this game until I saw you post on Facebook that you got the rule book and were excited about it. I immediately ordered the rulebook, raided the Walmart toy aisle, and started tearing apart my old MechWarrior figures. I have a dozen or so cars now, plus terrain, dice, and templates. This game is such a blast! Thanks for the heads-up and the great review.
Awesome review. I was trying to create a game like this myself, but Osprey beat me to the punch. So I'm obviously interested. However these types of games are better with a community of players. So... I will be sharing this video with the friends I have that used to play Car Wars, Carmageddon, Twisted Metal and similar games. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder how the 6th Edition of Car Wars is going to be now that Gaslands sort of beat them to the punch for a game of this type. They seem to have been dragging their feet.
Me three... I have been nervous about that, but I think Gaslands has its own vibe and it’s own community now. You can see from my earlier design blog posts on Gaslands.com that one of my (crazy unobtainable) design goals was to create a game that makes people want to revisit Gorkamorka and Car Wars and Dark Future but at the same time render them obsolete. ;)
The funeral wagon, it actually looks like the Family Roadster from the first Vacation movie. Honestly it doesn't take much to imagine an insane Clark Griswald behind the wheel of that thing.
I have two young sons and an old copy of Dark Future, but I wondered if this would be an easier game to get them into - what do you think? Great review by the way!
Robin Boyns Thanks. Not played Dark Future but I think this would work fine with young ones. It’s easy to stage in rules. Just race at first and don’t worry about weapons and weight etc
Mike Hutchinson Please don’t give up on Gaslands as you explore new ideas. I’ve never played a miniatures game before, they never floated my boat. Gaslands has completely changed my mind. Genius simplicity and complexity all at the same time. LOVE IT.

Sorry just seeing this now! That's a great point for sure!

Nice! Can't beat that price.
I can't wait to pick up the new Gaslands Refueled, just released
It's good stuff. No real rules changes, but lots of extra content.

Mike Holyoak Awesome, thanks! Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for another great review Joel! I picked this up at the UKGE, so all I need to do now is raid my son’s toy car collection.. :)
Sorastro's Painting Awesome. Half of the fun is the kitbashing.
This would be a way to break up the themes of your painting videos too .
Definitely a cool game, picked this one up myself last month and have started "mad maxing" some Hot Wheel and Matchbox cars. Great review!
Thank you!

KabukiKid Yes. I was curious about that myself.

Hahahaha... I love it. Can't unsee that now. That could be a whole theme of 80s movie- styled cars. :)
@@DriveThruReview We'd have to ban the Delorean from time travel though. No doc, not even if you go above 88!
Thanks Joel! Awesome review!
Joel Charles Garcia Thank you Joel!
I finally got the rules and 10 cars. Working on customizing them now
Awesome. Hope you enjoy it Tom.
Thank you Great Review!

Very nice explication, very Clair.
Thank you
You guys tried a Mario Kart retheme? 😅
I’ve not but there’s a document floating around on the Facebook group for that exact thing. :)
@@DriveThruReview Thanks!
The games creator is no longer making the templates. He just doesn't have the time any more plus there are plenty of 3rd parties now making them.
CanadianFabe Ah didn’t realize he stopped for good. Y definitely tons of options now though.
Need the time to write more expansions!
And work on your next game
