    Cheating? I wouldn't call using illicit recreational drugs cheating. Ecstasy is hardly a sports performance enhancing drug.
    He struggles with addiction and depression and he admitted that to the world whilst being interviewed by one of his mentors. That takes alot of courage.

      @@mitch8649 Many of em do it. It's just cause he got caught. The team doctors give them Benzos to get to sleep.
      As far as role models go we should really be looking at parents. Blame everyone else it seems. We really need to have the conversation of how to regulate these drugs. We can't even get pill testing standard at festivals today. It shouldn't be a crime, it is a health issue.
      Pills are pretty standard for a lot of young people for the last 20 years. Good parents etc. Had a good time and worked and studied hard. I know many that are doctors, teachers, lawyers, tradies. Never had an issue unless they got caught and their record affected their employment. Pretty much all of them have gone on to family mortgage etc. like everyone else.
      I've seen alcohol do a lot worse. Nobody seems to have a problem with that still.

    Big deal he took a few pinga's. Andrew Johns still trained hard, played football better than any other person we have ever seen and he maintained a normal and healthy life style. There was a time in my life where I was taking upto 80 ecstasy tablets on a Friday/Saturday night. I had an addiction that only affected me I went to work five days a week as a bricklayer and I worked hard. I would also buy Ecstasy for $12.50 a tablet and sell them for around $20 each I would buy and sell around 200-500 Ecstasy tables per week. A lot of my customers were school teachers they would get 5-10 tablets at a time Andrew Johns was found with one tablet which is not very much.

    Ecstacy is a nothing drug. Gives you a buzz and energy for 2-3 hours. and leaves your system. No way should it take away from what he did on the field. I've done it plenty of times. wouldn't suprise me if joey was smoking weed, or doing any other party drugs.

    • @DKluvTALZY
      @DKluvTALZY 8 лет назад

      your education on drugs especially ecstasy is majorly lacking...ecstasy can last for 12 hours if its not cut. chances are his "ecstasy" pill would have speed in it which makes the come down 3x worse. i took 3 eccys at after grad party in highschool i was buzzing out of my nut confident as from about 6pm to 8am i then smoked a 50 (3.4gr)of weed to try and sleep i didnt feel stomed one bit. i was biting down for hours and was scattered kept breaking chain of thought couldnt concentrate i then slept for 14 hours when i woke up i was drowsy didnt eat for a day and felt abit off. your fine while high aslong as you dont over do it but it has serious side effects on the brain and physical symptons when it wears off.

    • @DKluvTALZY
      @DKluvTALZY 8 лет назад

      also "ecstasy" isnt a drug the drug thats suppose to be in it is MDMA which comes from a plant in south east asia and since about late 80's has been extremely scarce so dealers buy there own press and cut it..99% of MDMA thatsleft goes to usa cause the markets bigger meaning they can charge double$$ also since late 80s in aus more then 95% of "escstasy" contains no mdma. as the use of speed was declining dealers started using that. i can almost gurantee any pinga you buy in 2016 is a speed based pill.

    • @DKluvTALZY
      @DKluvTALZY 8 лет назад

      they both have their pros and cons. for e.g its very easy to take to much mdma and end up naked rolling around in a park fist pumping. where as speeds effects only intensify when taking more. mdma doesnt really effect your brain until you abuse it forlong periods. where as whizz (speed) will effect you if you take it every weekend for maybe only a month. mdma doesnt have much of a come down you just lose all energy but with whizz as i mentioned earlier you have about 10-11 hours of feeling great all jacked up but then youll spend another 5-7 grinding and bitting aimlessly looking around a room breaking your chain of thought every 30 seconds and chances are your legs will be uncontrollably bouncing.

    • @DKluvTALZY

    seriously this is no big deal, it is obvious that he is a good guy. This is all about the stigma around ecstasy and that it is illegal. We could ban alcohol and then have someone up there in the spotlight condemning them for drinking. Did it provide him with any unfair advantage? No. Was he hurting anyone by taking it? No. As far as I'm concerned this is no different to drinking alcohol.

    this was nothing more than a save face scenario for Johns and the NRL as they knew the importance of Joey to the bigger picture and tried to get on the front foot with this issue before some journo wrote a story about someone coming forward and spilling the beans on Johns hidden drug addiction

    To allow a drug cheat to keep their medals and status and then place them in the Hall of Fame is the worst case of cronyism in Australian sporting history. Lance Armstrong had his career achievements nullified? So Australian Sporting Authorities and Andrew Johns are An embarrassment to every honest hardworking Australian.

    • @RB26DETT_
      @RB26DETT_ 2 года назад

      Drug cheat? Recreational drugs are not the same as performance enhancing drugs - least of all ecstasy. You wouldn’t have to search very hard to find studies that conclude alcohol is far more destructive than MDMA. He was battling his personal demons (in a questionable way I suppose) but that takes nothing away from the player he was on the field.

    Ha this amazes me he gets caught with ecstasy and they make him an immortal and then they SLAY cherry evans for playing within the rules and fighting for himself making a deal to secure his family. I think they have this all back to front.

      +Theatre Mad He's one of the greatest to ever play. He deserved to be an immortal, just look at what he did for the newcastle knights, and look at how they've been since he left. His personal life struggles shouldn't be a reason to overlook his impact on that franchise and the NRL as a whole. If Johns was in his prime, I tell you know, he would have turned this years wooden spooners, into a top 4 team.

    • @theatremad9797
      @theatremad9797 9 лет назад

      Great player yea,but should have not been put up as an immortal due to the fact he shot himself in the foot as It sends off the wrong message to the public which according to the NRL they are cracking down on. Even his brother has been in the wars for basically standing in a line to get into some chicks pants with a group of others on a big gang bang night.My whole point here is the comparison between Cherry Evans and johns and despite cherry's so called underachievement compared to johns i still think he is a better person to represent our game and i cant understand why he was basically slayed alive for backing out of a business deal which was perfectly legal.And don't forget there is no honor in business as they are complete opposites and always will be.

    • @MrBhunters
      @MrBhunters 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Well I cannot disagree with what you said there, Cherry Evans did no wrong in my opinion, and as a play he had every right to put himself in the best position as possible. I just think that Joey Johns shouldn't be discredited in anyway because of his off-field issues.

      +Theatre Mad The thing with DCE is that a footballers career compared to his lifespan is very short. In this modern era, the world "loyalty" is dead, clubs aren't loyal to players, just as players aren't loyal to clubs. DCE did what was best for him and his family, and anyone who slates him for back-flipping on his deal is either a: a liar or b: stupid. All power to him, and this is from a Dogs fan

    They had no right to publicly humiliate Joey like this.No one should have to be held accountable to the public because of what they do in their personal life.He's there to play football and entertain us,that's it.What they do away from their profession is none of our business.Why does he have to be hung out to dry like this.He's just a human being like the rest of us.Who are we to judge.This is disgusting.Poor bloke.

    Johns here shows himself to be an honest man and he should never be shamed for having a good time once in a while. MDMA is a better recreational drug than alcohol on many levels.

    There was a survey a while back and Australians came out top in the league of Ecstacy users per head in the world. The only downside is you unlucky buggers have to pay about 10 times more than in Europe. Although you never know on a night out someone might "slip a couple in your pocket"

    So the GOAT enjoyed going to the Church in London was it St Paul’s or Westminster Abbey 😂 took disco biscuits & partied like it’s 1999
    On a serious note it was a stupid thing to do but fair play to him for admitting on national TV in Straya and now global in FaceTube he was into his pingers.
    He has since become a great presenter/TV summariser/pundit
    I always remember his debut for Warrington he was absolutely brilliant that night and it was inevitable he would win the Tissot watch… he could have wore a dinner suit that night he never got tackled and kicked the rhinos into a corner they couldn’t get out of. The following week Wakefield best Warrington though
    At least he owned up to what he had done and now is happy to talk about his misdemeanour
