This probably the only video presentation that covers intervention in a little bit more details... very helpful for mental health practitioners... Thank you

This is literally the best video I have seen on fasd my husband has been diagnosed with everything and anything but fasd he was adopted and taken away from his abusive biological parents was never told and never felt to ask about his birth parents I demanded to see his adoption records etc from his adoptive parents ...they felt they were protecting him from not telling him.. one specific sentence I’ll never forget reading on the adoption papers ...mother of child was an extremely abusive alcoholic drank during pregnancy 😡 I knew his other diagnosis were incorrect ... you’ve described my husband to the letter

Oops! There at the end with the link was hilarious! You handled it so smoothly. From a professional in training perspective, that was actually helpful to see how to accept it for what it was, have a chuckle, and recover, moving right along! That was great!
The presentation was great as well. I have an 11yr old in my life with FASD and also ADHD are her diagnoses. I see how many of the symptoms overlap. How was it that a professional was able to distiguish between the two disorders for her to get a dual diagnosis? I have inattentive ADHD myself, so I'm trying to relate and help her with strategies to cope that are helpful for me. I struggle with knowing how to handle her moods. She can be happy as a lark one moment, and her brother say or do something (for example fart and laugh and direct it her way as what happened this weekend) and she will completely withdraw, fold up her arms, and go sit face to the wall in a corner. Sometimes she cries. With this instance, she didn't get the humour her brother was attempting. That's the FASD I suspect. How I handled it was gave her some paint to mix, placed it beside her, (we were in the middle of making crafts). I gave her some attention, but not a lot. I consoled her, rubbed her back. I told her he was just joking, take some time to yourself, here's some paint to mix in the meantime and come back and join us when you're ready. I question if I did the right thing. She stayed quiet, remained in the corner, 5min later I noticed she had mixed the paint, then 5 min later, she came back to our craft table and joined back in. I'm just learning what to do and how to help. This is my Godson who is 8, and his sister. I see them once a week.
They both love to act and role play, so Im definitely going to be employing that strategy in the future. That also helps with adhd coping of which all 3 of us have. Makes for an exciting and unpredictable weekly visit lol! I've learned to expect the unexpected with the kids and still learning and seeking how to "roll with the punches". Which I understand now is a no-no to use with FASD thanks to you Doc Snipes!!!❤

Wish this had been around back in 2007 when dealing with adopted child who was charming, and very disabled, there was no support in Tx . When I sought help for her was told it was because transracially adopted, behavior alienated all my friends. Adoptive parents of newborns need help/support as most babies are presented as healthy, drug free with no prenatal care at adoption. If one counselor watching this takes calls from a crying mom, you could save a family. Now it is homeless, sexually confused and inappropriate, manipulative and often suicidal and I have broken contact for my safety.
