Catherine Wheel is a great band that doesn't seem to get much attention these days. Their first album "Ferment" still holds up to me. Especially the song "Black Metallic". So happy I got to see them play it live in '95.
Loveless is Undisputed. Souvlaki for me is one of the Greatest Shoegaze albums that I can listen all day. When The Sun Hits, Dagger, Machine Gun, Allison, 40 Days are the songs that runs on my mind. Shoegaze is Eternal.
[long ass comment 🥸] i remember first getting into shoegaze last year i kept listening to the instrumental for 'spend the money' by fousheé on youtube when i was on a bus trip to mexico and i saw a comment asking what genre it was, someone said alt 80's rock and someone else said shoegaze i went to my spotify to look up the genre and realized i had altogether in my liked songs from a few months before i listened to 'when you sleep' for the first time and felt like i heard it before, it was weird 🤔 i listened to souvlaki for the first time and it quickly became one of my favorite albums over a year later today and i listened to loveless again and wanted to listen to some covers of when you sleep and sometimes i found ur channel through a comment u left on a mbv interview at first, i came for some shoegaze song suggestions but seeing u fangirl has made me feel so valid as a fanboy of the genre and music as a whole so thank u for making this video and i'll be on my way to watch part 2🙂↕️🙏 again, thank u 🩵
I'v been a shoegaze lover since 2013 with my first band being Air Formation. It's awesome to see another shoegaze fan around because nobody ik even knows what it is
My fav is definitely Slowdive honestly. They have such a unique approach to shoegaze and I think they are CRIMINALLY underrated. The best track from them is definitely "Alison".
I definitely think MBV is my favorite but I love any band and anything shoegaze, and I love your energy in the video it's super refreshing to see someone into shoegaze like you.♥
I have always loved shoegaze and I'm old. You need to check out the following: 1. Ride - Going Blank Again 2. The Verve A. A Storm in Heaven B. A Northern Soul C. Verve E.P. 3. The Sunshine Factory - Can't Be Found 4. Swervedriver - Mezcal Head 5. True Widow 6. Mazinga Phaser 7. Falcon Project 8. The Black Angels
I share your enthusiasm, I'm getting into shoegaze now at a dad age. It's a timeless kind of music. I posted a Lush reaction and posting MBV right now actually.
If you like Shoegaze, check out the band Hammock. Songs like Untruth, You lost the starlight in your eyes, and raising your voice trying to stop an echo
Sundays by Tanukichan is one of the first lp’s I’ve ever ordered online… she will make a bigger splash soon enough… Radio Love (from her first ep) is an unknown anthem of the genre… I’m only 13 mins in to this vid at this moment, but if you haven’t listened this band Julie, you’re missing out…
love the dreampoppers tribute mention, such a mega tune!!! Overall you got great tracks here if I had to add any I'd say, 'Mesmerise" by Chapterhouse is a classic, 'Linger' by Slow Crush has one the best shoegaze "drops" ever and 'Moans' by Parade Grounds isn't shoegaze but if you dig Jesus and Mary Chain it might go off.
I watched both of your videos. Some bands I thought of who were absent: Lush, Chapterhouse, and Celest (there are two - this is the one from Mexico City). On a more Dream Pop vibe, Fazerdaze. Well done!
ETHEREALALALALALA !!!!!!!!!! ok so like I just totallyyy found channel accidentally!!!!! Really like!!!! ZOMG I LOVE THIS MVSIC 2!!!!! so ok like um... oh.. you're my Gateway into this music bcz u know it greater than me and you're like so totally delightfully enchanting! And u really should sing for a band! Your voice sounds great! Ok byyyyeeeee °°°°°°P.S. ima hit like and Subscribe ☆
I think you are right with dream pop and shoegaze, I also throw post rock into the same category because I think there is a massive crossover there as well. Couldn't agree with you more about Soon. I played the arse off that Loveless. Talking of crying to Slowdive, check out their live video of Golden Hair, there's a girl in the crowd balling her eyes out. This is a lesser known Slowdive tune, I'm sure you know it, I love it. ruclips.net/video/Ad0JDKXctb8/видео.htmlsi=jEJi8a782UKGP8aN If you haven't done, with regard Cocteau Twins, check out their collaboration with Faye Wong and of course This Mortal Coil. Excellent taste music, 👍
The Kitchens of Distinction in their album "The Death of Cool" they explore the limits between indie, alternative, dream pop and shoegaze. You might find it interesting...
@@etherealalala From Hum I would recommend Comin' Home, Stars and Shovel. Teenage Wrist : Sparkle/Fade, Slide Away and Kibo. Soul Blind : In the In Between, Feel it all around and Cyanide.
Try CRANES - "Slide", girl. It's not shoegaze, but it's relatively close to it. Their "September" is amazing, too - kinda comparable to Lush (their "Sweetness and Light" is their the most known song, but they have a PLENTY of great stuff). Check Slowdive - Yesterday (Slown version), it's mindblowing. And, of course, almost every shoegaze fan listens to The Cure (Pictures of You, Burn) and Mazzy Star (Fade Into You, Flowers in December, Suzanne) - it's a different kind of music, but highly recommended. P.S. How could i forget about Alvvays - "In Undertow"! It's kinda soft version of shoegaze, just lovely. And The Joy Formidable - "The Greatest Light the Greatest Shade" (RUclips video version)! And Pinkshinyultrablast - "Marigold"! And Resplandor - "Twilight"! And Swirl - "The Last Unicorn"! And Seasurfer - "Stay"! Somebody, stop me :) P.S.S. Love Spirals Downwards - Write in Water [acoustic] is worth checking, too.
hey q bands 2 check out ...are Moose..."sonny and Sam ep ....and Blind Mr Jones.....the song Regular disease.....actually Neal Halstead helped produce Blind Mr. Jones 1992 debut
This was amassing to watch hahaha curious on how I could make my own. What did you use to edit everything in your video? I think you just discovered a new way of expressing yourself on the tubes.
I used premier pro however it may be a hassle to learn for I have been using it for over a year and I still struggle and it costs money. I suggest the editing software "VN" its free and easy to use.
@@etherealalala factual. Thinking of doing this same style but talking about everything I love like music, business, spirituality etc. love your radiance! You rock
Weird comment. A lot of people love shoegaze, and thanks to the internet over the past couple of decades an audience has expanded for the genre. Rolling Stone ranked Loveless as 73 in its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time -- so not quite as obscure as you're making it out to be.

I can watch this video when I am sad, and it cheers me up without fail.
I love your enthusiasm opinions about MBV.
I'm so glad you started with Isn't anything. I feel its sometimes overlooked compared to Loveless and it stands up to it as far as I'm concerned.
I totally get what you mean!! I love Loveless but it is the most popular album and their other albums deserve more credit.
I love mbv, but Isnt anything definetly doesnt hold a candle to loveless. Its a good record dont get me wrong, but its no loveless
My fav is definitely Slowdive honestly. They have such a unique approach to shoegaze and I think they are CRIMINALLY underrated. The best track from them is definitely "Alison".
Omg yes !!! Criminally underrated is the best way to describe it ! I cant stress enough how good slowdive is.

Although shoegaze and dream pop go hand in hand, there is the " wall of sound" type of shoegaze as well that has nothing to do with dream pop melody.
