Why didn't this style of yugioh take off I wonder? It's essentially the game people loved, but with more versatility like chess. It's in my all time top ten games I've ever played.
The game was actually pretty poorly received around its release. The game is more of a cult classic despite its high sales. At least thats how I see the game, it was kind of ambitious at the time - the game was marketed/designed for teens and adolescents in japan, then when it was ported to english and censored, it was marketed for children, making the game far too difficult for most children who played it, which I think turned a lot of potential players off the game really early on. I know friends that played it and most of them never even beat a duelist before they returned the game to a store or friend.
Speaking of my own experience, the main issue is the lack of a proper tutorial. Given the game differs greatly from normal Yu-Gi-Oh, a tutorial would've been much appreciated. It took me a while (and some guides) to truly understand what I was doing, but once I did it was fun. ... Well, after solving the second issue the game had (imo). Grinding cards in this game is rough - you get three cards for winning a duel, and they're random and based off of what your opponent used. Getting cards is an absolute pain if you don't use passwords. And in my experience that starter decks they give you suck, unless you don't care about immersion and name yourself Atem or Konami or whatever.
Hours is so undescriptive. It is very normal to put hours into a game. If you said something like hours of many days in middle school, it would be a lot more impressive.
We seriously should start getting vocal about a remake of this game on PS4, and have all the cards from Duelist Kingdom - Battle City in the game. I personally don't think going beyond that would be a good idea. Don't need the game becoming inbalanced by theme decks/archetypes.
Ikr? This was one of my favorite games from my childhood and it sucks how underrated it is today. I loved the gameplay and would spend hours building all sorts of decks. Additional cards are cool as long as they don't go beyond Battle City :D

For those that dont, some quick things: This is NOT online Duelists of the Roses, this isn't an organized tournament, this is literally me playing the 2 player custom duel mode that exists in the game (and always has) against myself. I literally just made decks of monsters that I thought seemed cool for viewers to watch that featured cool cards, and made decks out of them, to also display their attack animations from time to time to keep the video entertaining. This video was purely made for other people to enjoy not me, so: If you're going to complain that some duelists made bad plays, thats fine, because I was basically dueling myself for hours and trying to make the duels more interesting rather than one sided, then I used the best recorded duels I could get in the video. Dueling yourself and trying to make it seem like you arent fully aware of your opponents move is difficult, but you know what is even more difficult? Actually taking dueling yourself extremely seriously and trying to 100% optimize everything. Because if that was the case, then the duelist who started second would never really have a fair chance of winning. In addition to that, the game is not balanced AT ALL and some matchups had to have some player intervention for the duel to not be entirely one-sided. If you were doing the most optimal move every single time, then the comments would all be about how 'x didnt deserve to lose it started second' or 'x was an unfair matchup because one archetype really sucks and the other one is really good' and I thought no matter how I made this video or sliced it, there are inevitable flaws, so I thought screw it I'll just make some somewhat fun/entertaining duels for people and hopefully they like it. So if you liked it, I'm happy you did, if you don't, sorry to tell you but I knew this video sucks, I personally dont know why its my most viewed or why people care about it so much, but here we are. There is no actual DotR tournament, no online multiplayer client, nothing like that. If you're wondering how to get all the cards you cant obtain (theres literally dozens and dozens of these so listing is pointless, but obviously this includes cards such as Riryoku, Mirror Force, the ritual monsters like Cosmo Queen etc) you literally can not obtain any of these cards in the base game without cheating. If you want these cards, I've made a tutorial on how to do this for your emulator ruclips.net/video/Wwa6ZF2nDlo/видео.html - if you're savvy you can just put that memory card file on your PS2 memory card (I don't know how to do this, I never have, so don't ask how). Alternatively, you can play the Redux Mod linked in the description of this video - it is a mod I made with a few associates that know a lot about the game just like I do, that revamps the game with new duels, but most importantly ways to obtain all the cards in the game through normal gameplay, so you can legitimately obtain cards like Skull Guardian and set them as your deck leader.

I literally Binge watched these
Nvm I’m found them in the playlist on your channel
Hmmm, despite the games having separate music composers (according to a quick Google search of both anyway) the Tutorial music gives me vibes of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I know they're both Konami, so it's possible the composers knew each other's work
What would you say is the/your best deck, obtainable without cheats?
were there any banned cards besides no 3000 atk beaters?
Excuse me, how can you get those cards like mirror force etc?
And how can i get promoter my deck leader faster??
Please answer me...
cheating device like Action Replay MAX, then use codes to get 9 copies of all cards, and all monsters to SD
nobody is gonna talk about how after a 30 minute duel that guy just gives up 1:00:00
How do you play multiplayer? Cant the other player see your cards?
I still miss the exhale when monsters die 💀
The 2 players see the cards from each other? How it works?
I’ve never played before myself so I’m wondering this too
I really wish they would remaster this game and capsule monsters colosseum
This was definitely a throwback of nostalgia. One of my favorite games for sure.
Only problem was that there were so many terrible misplays in this video.
Very much agree...I loved this game
Would be very good a game reboot with the function to build opponents deck.
Hi Clovis and people! I'm going to play this game again after a looong time and I looked up those new codes that were posted at some point for hundreds of cards. I remember when it was only a dozen or so, can't say for sure. Anyway I noticed Cosmo Queen is there but doesn't have a password. How can I unlock the cards that I see being used here?
cheats
No gem drops. Typical Komoney
I dont get it :p
I'm gonna go ahead and assume it's a reference to the mobile game
Komoney dragon
i wish we could play this online together i would battle you with my red eyes deck then my zombie deck and my fairey deck
where i can download this game
God I love this shit and need more!!🤘🤘🤘🍆🤘🍆🤘🍆🤘
Como pega carta top encina
Who's the name of the theme song of the battles?
is there some way to like, netplay with ps2 games or is this all just local?
Are you playing on actual hardware, if not that's the best emu i've seen, this game is my life and I wish we got more like it.
This is hardware. its a North American PS2. The video itself is not very high quality. Thats AV composite cables, and the video was stretched out to remove letterboxes. So youre looking at very low quality video here
@@ClovissenpaiDotR Thanks, it's better than the glitchy effects of emu though.
@@calistianzathos7910 you're damn right it is!
i played this as a 5 year old back in 2005 or so
How do obtain cosmo queen cards?
Where the rest of the tournament?
Como se hace para tener las Cartas de Rituales como Líder y tambien que estén en la baraja? Agradezco la ayuda que brinden
Cheating
Are these 8 different players playing with their deck ? Or you playing against yourself
Seems like they really are different players as one claimed to be the zombie deck user.
