Mad Zoo label boss Mat Zo has long been revered for his ability to fluctuate seamlessly across genres as a sharp producer. From trance to house to techno, Mat Zo has seemingly done it all. His latest EP called 'This Is A Mad Zoo House' is a return to his love of club music, with a focus on 'filter house' and sampling. Purposefully, and for the sake of the art, Mat has released the EP entirely for free on BitTorrent instead of pursuing cost-prohibiting clearances. "I found all of these samples and loops the old fashioned way, by going to record stares and crate digging," Mat shares. "I didn't want to sample the same shit over and over, especially in house music where there's a kind of sample hall of fame people stick to. I wanted to find obscure samples that I couldn't find on the internet and try and give them a new breath of life."

This was one of the best Mixmag sets so far. So funky and... different, that's what I liked about this. It was really refreshing to hear songs I've never heard and the mixing was flawless. If you know him well, MAT ZO plays a lot of genres, you can hear him playing Drum & Bass in Fabric or a house set in small clubs or in rare occasions releasing trance songs. He's versatile.
He's a good fit for melomaniacs, but again it makes him a bit more difficult, not everyone likes maybe everything he plays, having it from under one name might make things more difficult, they remember his Filter house set for example and thing "alright cool I'll go listen to him some time live" and then he plays D&B and it kinda ruins the vibe

Yes, youngsters, House Room... there were individual "rooms" at "parties" back in the day and we did not call them "stages"... usually there was a house room, trance room and jungle/drum n bass room. Shouts to DJ Dan and Donald Glaude!!!

First time ive ever heard someone drop the FunkStar DeLuxe and Bob Marley tune @ 15:55. My older brother has told me tales of vibing out to this tune till the wee hours, in some remote location (desert? basement?), in the 90's. AND WHO ELSE CAN DROP THIS SUBLIME set with this specific track other than Mat Zo. HAUS! Thank you Mat Zo!

Same here,even though Mat says he was making that uplifting trance coming from a bad place. Really skilled producer and I'll be interested to see what direction he goes with his music. Looks like Mad Zoo is starting to come together, and he's still doing pretty good with MRSA, which from the sounds of it he likes doing more than his Mat Zo act.
