@@frankhooper7871 I guess Larry chose not to go with Cameron ; cats often prefer their territory to owners or perhaps some staff there mean more to him than the Cameron family . You can never quite tell what a cat is thinking .
He was adopted as a mouser, not as a pet. He actually has a title- Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office. The problem with Larry is he is still in the tactical planning stage of mouse catching rather than actually catching mice and rats.
He has not been abandoned. Harry is a state employee until he dies and is well cared for.

Hi. Larry isn’t owned by the Prime Minister as his post is as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office located at 10 Downing Street. It doesn’t matter who the Prime Minister is as he’s not a pet. Being an old building there are sometimes rodents in the area and his job is to keep them away either by catching them or by his presence scaring them away. It’s the same with the cat who used to hold the post of Chief Mouser to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office around the corner, Palmerston.
Larry stays it’s the only thing in number 10 that people like.
Larry was never a pet of David Cameron, who isn't particularly keen on cats. Larry is the latest in a long line of civil-service cats brought in as vermin-discouragement operatives.
