- Bile ducts are thin tubular structures which help carry bile (a liquid that helps in fat digestion) produced by liver from the liver to gallbladder and intestines. Symptoms of bile duct cancer include jaundice (yellow skin and eyes), usually associated with light colored stools, and itching, weight loss, weakness, and so on.
After physical examination, a battery of blood tests, CT, MRI (MRCP) amongst others usually help in diagnosis. The treatment for this diesase needs a careful planning with implementation of the planned steps of treatment with clock work precision.
After biliary drainage and portal vein embolization (when needed), surgery entailing the removal of a part of liver and the involved bile ducts can help ensure cure with good quality of life.
