This is one of the most bad ass things ever! This is the kind of piece that most prog bands sit around and joke about while smoking an after rehearsal doobie. Stickmen not only thought of it but went about and actually did it! Seriously, a guy like Tony Levin could just go up there and play Larks Tongue and Big Time and everyone would be happy, but he keeps pushing the boundaries year and year. Simply amazing.
Oh my god, this is so bad yet so good. I've been wanting to hear the electric guitar play this piece for a while, and I'm so surprised that this exists and thankful Stick Men played it, and it's RUclips.
Wow, what sonic fury STICK MEN hath wrought. Do a BACK2BACK listen of this version against the Igor-conducted one from 1965 TV broadcast ( ruclips.net/video/5tGA6bpscj8/видео.html ); STICK MEN shine in re-creating with a rock power trio what an orchestra ought. Will be enjoying a 2nd show of their's in ATX in a few weeks. Saw KCrim 2x last year: all hail the MIGHTY KING CRIMSON and its COURT!
I always knew this piece would suit a rock group, and this is very good. Yet... Something is missing. I don't know what, it's just... It's like they wanted a little too much, did a little too much, were just a little too in love with their own sound. Still, fantastic, but... I long for... less?
There isn't enough variation in timbre - just clean Stick, distorted Warr, drums, and samples. That's it. The original is a wonder of orchestration, so with only three or four sounds and a dynamic range limited to MF to FFF, you lose a lot.
Fun fact: Tony Levin actually played under Igor Stravinsky himself while attending Eastman School of Music in Rochester.
oh my God, can Tony Levin get any cooler?! #legend
He’s the Superhero of Bass!

For a moment I thought they were going to break into Siberian Kathru at the end of the piece.
This is freaking way great stuff. All three musicians are fantastic!!!
The original song is an orchestration, but the group has arranged and played this song really nicely. I applaud and thank the group I played.Bravo!!
FRANTASTIC! Wonderful!
Glad to find this! We will do my arrangement of the original with my drum, guitar, bass, keys, and vocal band.

Tony Levin is amazing, bowing the Chapman Stick like Jimmy Page in this....

it just sounds bad, your gut is right. it's lifeless. too prog.
Oh, I bet it would be very effective in the room. These guys are loud, so you'd be ffeling it in your solar plexus.
@@eugenelefed No, it is what it is. It's like calling chuck berry not prog enough
@@paveantelic7876 which is a good thing! 😆
