Tina, yesterday when I was getting on for my first show of the season, my horse reared, spun, and I went splat. Then my show boots split. Brushed myself off, duct taped my boot, got back on, went into the show ring, and my stirrup leather fell off of the stirrup bar in the middle of the class, so I had to retire from that one (it was dangling close to his leg and since he was wiggly that day anyway, I really didn't want to fall off twice!) He ended up going wonderfully in our other classes (we do huntseat flat classes in the US), but the judge just didn't like us. I truly feel your disappointment for days not going the way we intend! I'm right there with ya!
Oh Tina honestly it really wasn't that bad . What's done is done onwards and upwards. Like Cameron said your riding better than ever. Have a fab week with good friends and no pressure. Lovely footage Emily 👌 xx
Bless you Tina ❤️ Every day is a school day. Your dressage was great even though Banksy spooked. You'd think that the person walking would politely wait!! Onwards and upwards Tina. You and Banksy are a perfect team and are certainly going places ❤️
i hope you and banksy are okay tina i love to see how honest your are about your ups and downs just remember your the best rider ever and that you and banksy are an amazing pair keep smiling lovely🤍
Bless your heart Tina. Getting off in the arena was just a weird technicality you didn’t know about at the time … so really you did a lovely dressage test, a good show jumping round and an unfortunate little blip cross country so all in all this way actually not as bad as you might think!!! I totally understand why you’d feel disappointed but you DIDN’T let him down you had his welfare first and foremost… that’s the exact opposite of letting him down!!! Keep planning the next one :) hope to bump into you at Badders!!!!
Oh Tina, you did very well and thinking of your Bestie Banksy's safety is more important than anything. As you say, "there is always another time" ( Upwards and Onwards ) Well done Tina, no tears on camera anyway 👏 👍 👌 🥰 x
Aww, that was some bad luck you had- just one of those days were anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I love how open & honest your are with sharing not just the good times, but also the not so good times tho, it is nice to know that others also have the stink days as well! 🙂 I hope you have a total blast at Badminton- I wish I was able to go... maybe next year when international travel is a little closer to being normal again 🤞
I think you did really well Tina, your attitude has come on amazingly. Just be proud of what you and Banksy do together, you obviously love him to bits. Literally the only thing you can do now is move onto your next event. Btw can you have people help you desensitise Banksy a bit? Like hire an arena for some dressage schooling and get a couple of people in hi vis, weird clothes, flags, umbrellas etc to walk around without warning. Let him know it doesn't hurt. Just a thought.
Chin up lovely, it wasn't that bad! The spook in the dressage was quite mild in comparison to the infamous you ended up in the hedge spook a few years ago 😱 Banks showed his mettle keeping going after losing a shoe! Shame about the cross country, he was going great guns up till then Plenty of positives to take from the day ♥️ Although if you're feeling meh, then everything seems rubbish ((hugs)) #GoodBoyBanksy
You did the opposite of letting him down, his health and soundness came 1st. I wouldn’t have known about the getting off in the ring after your round had finished either, I would have done the same 🙈. At least you both got home safe and sound and having learned something new x x
@@LifeontheLeftRein always for one of my favorite RUclipsrs ❤️ thanks for showing not only the highs but also the lows of our sport! I’m currently working on getting over my fear of XC. I almost have a panic attack everytime I even walk out in the XC field. Any tips on handling nerves? I rode a youngster who was sometimes naughty and excitable for XC so she knocked my confidence. Love you and your ponyios!
Oh Tina it really wasn't as bad as you say! He did a lovely dressage test and the spook was really understandable. You improved so so much in the dressage phase, which is probably why you're now a bit harder on yourself because your standards have gone up! And the elimination in the showjumping wasn't you doing anything wrong, just a stupid rule. And now you know to not dismount in the arena!😂 Be kind to yourself, you did a good job❤️
I expected a disaster! The dressage was super and nice recovery. Just not your day but you can tell the training is kicking in! So much more solid in everything overall. Nice job
Tina I follow your vlogs although I’m probably a bit older than your usual subscriber. I was at Port Eliot doing the 80 and saw your showjumping and how distraught you were. (I wanted to say hello but didn’t think it was an appropriate time though I did say hi to Emily). If it’s any consolation we had a totally uncharacteristic stop at the ditch and found out afterwards it reeked of pig effluent so didn’t feel so bad after that. It caused a lot of problems and some falls. Some couldn’t get their horses anywhere near it. I think it’s just one of those things and a day to take the positives from and go forward. You did nothing wrong and everything right for Banksy as always. Take heart and move on. Lots of big hugs.
Hi and lows of eventing. You went out and did it even when you weren't in the frame of mind. Feet up this week with the 🍸at badminton have a fab week. 😊X
Rotten luck Tina, the main thing is that Banksey and yourself walk away to do battle another day. Pitty they don't have Stud Muffins for humans as I think you deserved some yourself. We live, we learn and we move forward. Just think of the positives in life. Big hugs all round, you deserve it❤️
No matter what happened in this vlog, you are riding so beautifully! So much improvement in the past few months, just a tough day overall. I was expecting way worse by the title of this video but you did just fine!!! Wonderful, Tina!
May not have looked the best on paper but there is so much that you should be proud of!! The fact that you recovered so quickly from his spook in dressage to re-establish his rhythm and contact is fantastic. Showjumping wasn’t bad just unfortunate about the rule (which I never knew about either 🤷♀️) and the start of your xc was fantastic, lovely forward rhythm and no chipping in 😁 Considering your mindset going into the day (which is totally understandable) you both done amazing and had you went into an event last season with the same mindset would you have achieved as much? Enjoy your week away 😊 x
Oh I just wanted to give you a big hug, you could so see that your mind was elsewhere. Some of the comments on this vlog have made me so cross; you do not need counselling for having a bad day! I think we all do the same, when we're out at an event and our adrenaline is up we're bound to feel more emotional, everything feels ten times worse than when you look back later, it's hard to see the positives when you're in the moment for sure, especially when we're so passionate and put so much time and money into our horses. For what it's worth, minus the spook his dressage looks SO much better and I also think you rode the XC so much better than last week, he was looking fab out there! The main thing that always comes through on your vlogs is that you clearly love the bones off of Banksy, he is one lucky boy to have you. (sorry for such a novel of a comment 🙈) xx
The irony about life is that the highs would not feel as good without the lows! Your attitude and mindset are so much better than before; onwards and upwards without dwelling. Fab!
something I say to my learners is that because you had to work at something does not mean the result was not good, you used effort and skill to overcome the wobbles.
It's funny. Sometimes pushing through is what you need, and sometimes it just doesn't work. Glad you're both physically okay. I wouldn't have known about getting off in the arena either but I guess it does make sense. Have fun at Badminton and hope you all enjoy your week off!
Karen O’Connor one said, “you can’t let the highs get too high or the lows get too low or you’ll never make it in this sport. “But you know what? I think it’s more like, “There are more lows than highs in Eventing so you better celebrate the highs like you’ve just won the Olympics!“ Bad day at the office, but you’ll be back out and killing it because you’re riding better than ever!
Oh Tina it was nothing like as bad as you originally said, hope you see that now! Your dressage lady 😍 amazing, and show jumping and xc were awesome, just little bits of bad luck. And maybe a little of the mind set too. enjoy badders week and then ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!! Xo
Thank you for showing us the downs as well as ups. The main thing is that both you and Banksy are OK after the event and live to fight another day. Onwards and upwards! Enjoy badminton, hoping and waiting for a great vlog about your time there.
You did much better than you feel you did. You had a cracking score for dressage, it's a good score without the spook, let alone with it so that's a positive.. you did a good jump round even with the shoe debacle. And from what we saw xc he was doing really well up untill that scary ditch. You guys both walked away safe and sound too. So all in all not a bad event. Minus a few blips. Awww bless, in hindsight perhaps a late entry was not the best decision after your great performance the week before. You do put so much pressure on yourself from a competitive point of view. Your dressage has improved leaps and bounds from last year and he has the potential to do a really good score if you learn to relax and go for it, perhaps a few dressage only events may help as you are both more than capable of low twenty scores. Just out of curiosity, I know Emily uses or used some sort of mindset coach to be more positive , have you ever tried it? Xxx
I think you should be bloody proud of yourself and Banksy! The way you dealt with the spooky stewart (instant recovery!), the way you showjumped with only three shoes and the cross-country was a blip. After the horrible news you had the weekend before and with all that was going on - that was super! But yes, maybe read the rule book. ;)
If you learned nothing else Tina know that only you can decide when it feels right to ride or do anything for that matter. Do not be pushed into something that to your core you do not wish to do. As someone who has been eliminated on many occasions…I have learned to appreciate the good movements in the dressage test - and yours was really nice; to appreciate each showjump jumped and you jumped them all - and I too like the grass except when the shoes come off (so glad your beautiful horse is no worse for the thrown shoe) and when you make the mistake you really learn the lesson (I would always always do what feels right for me and my horse and be damned the risk for elimination.
