Enjoying the summer sunshine at the Bull Wall and Fairview Park in Dublin.
Whit weekend in 1963 saw the finest weather in years. A general exodus to the seaside and countryside resulted in a record amount of traffic on the roads. There was bumper-to-bumper traffic along the narrow road to Bull Wall in North Dublin as day trippers headed to the seaside to enjoy the summer sunshine. A family relax in deck chairs by their car, people dressed in their Sunday best, and families and children soaking up the sun in Fairview Park.
The Whit Bank Holiday falls on the first weekend in June and is now generally referred to as the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Ah! The little boys in their blazers and shorts instead of Nike bottoms and T-Shirts. And little girls in frocks. In fact not a piece of clothing in that footage was Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour( Although not sure if they had been around that long,probably not)🤔 Nor a E- Scooter in sight. Those were days.😉

The queue for the number 30 bus to get home remember it well at the wooden bridge.those were the days no phones or internet and no big bills.far happier times.no money but did not need much them days.thanks for the video.
When the population of Ireland was at it’s lowest, it’s about 80% higher now.
Peaceful , mannerly and orderly . I miss the that Dublin . George Bernard Shaw said “Ireland is the only open-air asylum in Western Europe being run by the inmates” , it seems like that now .

who remembers the warnings on TV about forest and goarse fires being caused by discarded cigarettes or broken bottles on dry grass in the 1960s summers.
They weren't too worried about discarding anything that time, look at all the rubbish on the grass in the park!
