ETA: FYI, The shooting was when his dad didn't like him getting with the Dragon Tamer, and he kidnapped her and her grandma. Dragon came to rescue them, dad shot, and the Dragon deflected it with his bat.

Yes, it was in the flashback series, chapter 16 "Pledge of the Dragon".
Kiyoshi's Dad was mad that Yuko was convincing Kiyoshi to leave the Yakuza, so he kidnapped her and her grandmother. When Kiyoshi went to save them, his Dad took out a handgun similar to what Shun has now and shot at him. Luckily, Kiyoshi deflected the bullet with his baseball bat.
