More than anything, the pure happiness on Lee's face, listening to the tale leading up to playing the amp and then actually playing it. He almost looked like a new father. Thanks for sharing.
I think the whole magic of Dumble is that the amps were curated to the players. If you’re playing style doesn’t match up with the particular amp you’re playing, it won’t sound how he intended it to sound.
I guess that amp was built for a specific person. However if Andertons sold me an amp and it sounded like that I would send it back assuming it was damaged in transit.
When Randall Smith hired an audio engineer/patent attorney to review his patent application for a "high gain" amplifier, he told "Mr Smith" that the application was very well written but it would never work. When "Mr Smith" asked why, he said, "It will cause distortion." 🤔🤫😆😆😆

I'm building a magnificent line of amps that go by the name of Dingus. They deliver an uncut tonal range and promise to penetrate the mix every time. Grab your Dingus now!
I have tried for 3 days now, and each time I get black-out drunk. Currently 3 minutes into the video. The fear is that I may never see the whole thing before my liver packs in.

Nobody talks about Leo Fender or Les Paul as mr Fender or mr Les Paul. Yet we refer to Dumble as Mr Dumble. Totally wanting to create a cult here. This is annoying

To be fair, saying all Dumbles sound the same is like saying all Fenders sound the same. There are notable differences between a Princeton Reverb, a Deluxe Reverb, and a Twin Reverb, and it’s more than just small, medium, and large versions of the same thing. Every Dumble amp wasn’t an Overdrive Special, and even between the various Overdrive Specials he built there were differences just like there is a difference between Blackface Twin Reverb, a Silverface Twin Reverb, and 90s Twin Reverb.
I can only assume there is some sort of inspirational organic magic that happens between the player and the amp when actually using one of these things, that warrants the reputation, and it can't be captured through a recording, because they always sound like a nasty solid state amp emulating a bee in a jam jar when I hear recordings.
I think you get a free bottle of sugar pills to take with these amps. Take one sugar pill before turning on the amp and allow the placebo to work its magic so you can justify the price paid while playing.
Somehow I got this sensation with simulations and pedals that mimic the dumble. In the room sounds fantastic but on recording is always muddy and fuzz. But I always assumed was an Skill issue of my part. (this one was worse than normal tho)
I just found the most epic settings on my FUCHS ODS amp: stay on the clean channel. turn the pre gain all the way up. Then, turn the master all the way up. It finally has enough gain! Wear hearing protection, and leave the room.
I want to believe, but I can't forget that one Robben Ford interview in That Pedal Show about Alexander Dumble. Pretty sure Robben says that mr. Dumble's intention was that when he's gone - no more Dumble amplifiers. Robben says mr. Dumble did not pass on the technology/train any apprentice. This seems a bit contrary to what the guys here are selling, but perhaps I'm wrong, it's not a cashgrab and there are good intentions behind this project.
I thought it sounded extremely muddy and fuzzy. Like when you mix an HM2 with a gunned down superfuzz. I guess I am just uncouth and half deaf. Give me Ty Tabor's sound any day over this....
A room full of so called Dumble experts, and nobody knows how to set the amps? If there was a sound engineer in the room, shame on you. The higher gain sounded like hammered shit.
I get the feeling that Dumble amps are best sounding in the room. As well as being built for completely different guitarists with different styles. I respect the lengths Dumble went to create his amps, even if I might never rock one.
That's a very mature true statement. I think the idea of respecting someone's legacy or work is important. When I say respect I mean it's important not to take a crap on anybody's work. All of the passive aggressive comments here are because of passive aggressive behavior and poor emotional health.

I've never played one (or even been in the room with one) but I agree that the warm, clear, clean tone with the sustain of an overdriven amp is the thing that artists get out of the Dumble amps that really stands out as unique to me.
I don't get the hype. If that were Peavey branded, we'd say that they are "muddy", "greasy", "bassy", "crispy".....whatever..... I'll try to search a good 'ol Marshall. Almost any classic type amp would work perfect for 99% of situations, just adding 1 or 2 pedals.
Seeing the success of Two Rock, Fuchs, Amplified Nation, et. al., the family decided they needed to cash in while there's a window of opportunity. I wonder what they're going to charge for the amps.
For the sake of argument, let’s say Dumbles are indeed the best amps ever made, even then the amount of legend and nonsense surrounding them is staggering. Howard Alexander Dumble said more than once that he is the only person that can truly make a Dumble. It will be interesting to see how many hushed reverential statements and Mr. Dumble’s it will take to come up with the story they’ll need to get around that, let alone why they won’t be replicas. I’m sure they’ll be able to build a great amp, no doubt, but we’ll see about the story. Music can’t survive in a crystal lattice -Mr Dumble
Thought that tone in Lee’s hands sounded great for what it was, I haven’t been overly impressed by most dumbles I hear in videos, the clean tones they got out of Robben Fords amp on that pedal show were outstanding though, the notes were popping and harmonics and feedback were bursting out of the amps while clean

I love the fact they respected the man enough to carry on his legacy with the family blessings, and always referred to him as Mr. Dumble. Folks complaining about giving respect to a man they loved who then passed are confusing to me.
Y’see, I think it might be a good way to praise the work and the genius of Mr Dumble if they made a sort of school for the new generations, i.e. how Dumble thought and made his own amps, so as to have some young minds who can grasp and evolve the Dumble style... a sort of laboratory school...
While I can understand some don’t get the hype in today’s world of infinite tonal options, for me this sound translates because I absolutely adore the tone of players like Robben. Yes there are klons and copies but there’s something special wrapped up in an unbelievable legacy…imagine jamming with your amp maker before it’s made…crazy! Suggestion…can you guys just call him Howard…”Mr. Dumble” was getting old…fantastic video though! Thanks guys
I got to play the Dumble amp owned by Santana when I visited Taylor's studio a month ago. Taylor is Drew's associate (younger long haired dude seen briefly at the beginning of the video). I know it sounds like an exaggeration but it's true that that amp makes you play better (whichever your level you're at) . It's not a magical or supernatural thing. It's just that the sound inspires you a lot. The hype is real!
I guess it's the dynamics and response the kind that only really makes a difference if you play a certain way, You can hear it when Robben Ford plays with Larry Carlton live. Ultimately it's just a tool like was mentioned in the video, if ever he lost that amp i'm sure he could find a way to recreate his sound some way else.
At the time, they were probably good amps, but today, nobody cares the hype, they have nothing special. You can play a Dumble clone and you will also get the good dynamic… I have a Two-Rock and Dr Z and both amp have incredible good dynamic and awesome tone that actually sound way better than in this video… It’s the same thing with Klon… people think they need to spend $5K+ to have a Klon when there’s absolutely no magic dust components and no secret circuit. You can pick one of your favorite Klone pedal and it will sound just as good… If you don’t like the Klone, then you won’t like the Klon. Same thing with Dumble, if you don’t like clone from one of the known brand or a very good local amp engineer, then you wouldn’t like the original Dumble amp… any superlative about the man is just pure snake oil marketing…
Each Dumble amp was a Custom made amp to meet the style and sound of a particular guitarist. So naturally unless you wanted the exact sound that a particular artist wants, you won't be happy with the amp.
Enigmatic is great , but if you dial it in to sound like this hot mess I’d take a fender as well … thankfully you don’t have to and I don’t understand why anyone does … I don’t find it a selling point or a plus
oh wow. I just hopped over from the REVERB video on Dumble at NAAM, and all the comments were like "go ahead... say "Mr. Dumble" one more time... and then, lo and behold, the very first sentence begins with "Mr. Dumble". you cant make this up.......
Finally someone with charisma! Not just a smiley sales manager. Man and his whole life and attitude in front of the camera! Deep and different...Nice to see... Probably the same as a background of their amps... Great!!!
This cult marketing is annoying. We dont refer to Leo Fender or Les Paul as Mr Fender or Mr Les Paul. Yet we need to refer to Dumble as Mr Dumble. They wanna create this God-like figure. Creepy and annoying
It doesn’t sound good, I don’t get the hype. It’s like the Klon - plenty of pedals are just as good, but there’s this hype around certain products. It’s like those Gibsons that cost more used than new, which is just absurd. What kind of fool would buy a guitar like that? Some people do buy them, but I’ve always thought they’re more collectors than real guitar players. In the case of this amp, it sounds bad probably because of the speaker’s fault. A crappy speaker equals crappy sound, no matter how good the amp is.
I got a cheap Dumble-in-a-box clone pedal, the "Enchanted Tone" by Caline a few months ago, and I gotta say it does a pretty damn good job matching some of the tone of a Dumble, especially when hearing someone like Pete who can actually play to the sound properly!
I get that they're really famous and you think... oh yeah.... but in fairness this sounds so f**king good that you just have to say alright. In this case I see what you mean. Yes. Fair enough. Excellent Job. Touche. It's basically Epic. It's true enough.
I thought it sounded decent, you can definitely hear how rich it sounds harmonically when Pete hits a big open chord (especially on the top end). I think maybe the choice of guitar was not the best to show off the amp. Dumbles have a looser-low end than Marshall-style amps and a lot of midrange already. Plugging a LP into it may have led to it sounding a bit muddy and muffly in the lower frequencies. Most guys who use Dumbles are Strat guys which sonically is like the opposite of a LP. Heck even and SG or a Tele woulda come through pretty well Id bet. Anyways, cool video nonetheless. Thanks for posting👍.
I hope you guy's (the Dumble preservation society) do this. That is continue the legacy of Alexander Dumble. A pretty big part of the market would love a chance to own a Dumble. Just whatever you do, don't sell to Gibson or any other big company. Work hard and make a great product and the market will reward you.
LOL. It's funny because this newer one they built (that it appears Lee and Pete are demoing) sounds SO much like my Supro Galaxy 50 combo. The overdrive on that one has the same spitty/fuzzy thing going on that a lot of people hated when they came out (I love it). It has that same cascading gain structure that the Dumbles are known for. Very dark, not great for chords, but for blues licks it kills. Of course, my Galaxy 50 only cost me $500 from Sweetwater when they blew them out. I wouldn't pay tens of thousands or whatever they're charging for these new models for that sound. lol.
More than anything, the pure happiness on Lee's face, listening to the tale leading up to playing the amp and then actually playing it. He almost looked like a new father. Thanks for sharing.
This video cured me of wanting to get a dumble ever. Thanks!

I know it sounds like an exaggeration but it's true that that amp makes you play better (whichever your level you're at) . It's not a magical or supernatural thing. It's just that the sound inspires you a lot. The hype is real!
IMHO Pete sounded and played better on any other amp.
17:38 Yeah, you can totally hear Pete being inspired by the amp. Lol.
I don't see what's so special about it other than the fact it's rare
nothing really, they’re basically modded Fender circuits.
Swerved right into the truth!
Keep it
What’s wrong with a Line6 POD?
I'll stick to my Boss Katana Gen 3. Thank you.
Each Dumble amp was a Custom made amp to meet the style and sound of a particular guitarist. So naturally unless you wanted the exact sound that a particular artist wants, you won't be happy with the amp.
2 years before the Pocket Dumble appears, no doubt
Based on the sound through that amp, I feel that "Mr, Dumble's" talents would have been better spent working on that cure for cancer.
My Nobels ODR1 30th Aniv can get so close when i use it with my Fender amp. I use it with a LP too and i can get the same sound.
Sounds like a Peavey Decade.
Didn´t Lee say about the UA Enigmatic "...... I think I´d rather have a Fender". Sounds like that view might still hold. Haha, yes.
Enigmatic is great , but if you dial it in to sound like this hot mess I’d take a fender as well … thankfully you don’t have to and I don’t understand why anyone does … I don’t find it a selling point or a plus
My Gladio Cornerstone into a Tonex sounds more like what a Dumble sounds in my head than that first, fuzzy, fizzy mess.
Fumble funnel dumbe
The legacy of bollocks
Whatever amp Pete is playing at the beginning of the video sounds like crap.
oh wow. I just hopped over from the REVERB video on Dumble at NAAM, and all the comments were like "go ahead... say "Mr. Dumble" one more time... and then, lo and behold, the very first sentence begins with "Mr. Dumble". you cant make this up.......
The whole "Mr Dumble" thing pissed me off no end. Many in the industry far more influential and ground breaking
Leo Fender, Dick Denny, Jim Marshall, Lyndon Laney, Randall Smith etc etc
Mike Soldano.
Real glad he passed up on that cure to cancer for the sake of 300 amps. 😂 🤦♂️
Well, it's not for me but certainly a blues guy would like them.
Looks like they played the new re-creations and not the original ones.. Would have like to hear any differences. .
Sorry too buzzy. NEXT!
Yotally but that’s the way it’s dialed and I have no idea why … it’s not appealing at all like this
Is the tone in the intro supposed to be good?
Hah right
(no disrespect intended) Mister Dumble sounds like Seraph from the Matrix - "i can build an amp for you... but first i must apologize..." 😂🤘
It sounds like a fuzz pedal, or like the input is overloaded, just a mush to me
I wouldn't pay tens of thousands or whatever they're charging for these new models for that sound. lol.
Well I wonder what it sounded like in the room. I wonder if it sounded same in the room. I will hold back on my opinion
My tv speakers do not do those amps justice AT ALL.
...or maybe it is and you just don't care for the amp?
"Continuation" my ass. That's a replica. Don't kid yourselves.
