The Latest From Amtrak Jan 2024 [Enhanced Check-In]

Amtrak has just launched a new pilot program that they are calling “Enhanced Check-In”. And I got the surprise chance to try it out for myself on my way to film for some upcoming videos.
Instead of having to stop what you’re doing to pull up your ticket for the conductor to scan, you can now lift your reservation yourself using your smart phone and a QR code placed above your seat.
This is only a pilot program at the moment and is being tested on select trains.

Yes it does reduce labor but I like having the freedom to go to the cafe car or restroom at any time. Hopefully staff are still readily available when issues do arise though.
