I bought an absolutely identical CB160 new in 1965 when I was 16. I still have it. It has 93,000+ miles on it and has been coast to coast twice when I was young and stupid. The head has been off only once in about 1966 to replace a seeping head gasket. Otherwise the engine is 100% original. The CB160 was and is an amazing motorcycle.
It was one of the best days of my life. I was 19 years old, a freshman in college; my dad said he would sign for a CB160 for my use that summer in 1965. My mother was against it but he over ruled and we went to the store together. The papers were signed and I walked to the back of the store to the warehouse and there she was...a Red CB160 beauty. I rode that out the door with a feeling of joy I can't describe. It took me to my summer job and the weekends were all mine with my GF seated behind me. Summer flew by and It was time to return to school. I thought the bike was going with me. Wrong. Dad said it was for that summer of '65. He gave me that summer on the 160. I appreciated and loved him for that. No argument from me Dad. I respected the agreement but parting with that bike was hard but I had the payments and the job was over. I sold it to a neighbor had no experience on bikes. He had it for two hours and it was totaled; he was unhurt but it killed me.
I have a 1965 Honda CB160 that I rescued from a Storage unit in Long Island. This Bike has only 00033.5 mi. on it. I have already done all the hard work to it. Ripped it down, painted all the original Honda parts, original Tires (still has the rubber hair on the sides of the tires), original Brake Pads with no wear , original exhaust, it even has the Package Carrier behind the seat (Optional in 1965). I rebuilt the engine not because of the wear, because there was non! It was because this bike suffered Hurricane Sandy and I had to remove all evidence of sea salt and bring it back to life. When I heard it run on a bench test for the first time I was AMAZED!! No other way to put it. This has been a Labor of Love and I hate to part with it but I am way to busy with my growing company and someone who really cares about it would and should as much as I did would do a fine job putting it back together. Time is of the essence since I might even part it out just to make room for my company. I have all original parts and documentation and I am willing to consider any reasonable offers.
