I just tried out my 6'9" L over the weekend and it was pretty good rod, paired up with a slx bfs reel and can cast 1/16 oz lures with ease, haven't tried anything lighter yet tho, but think it can do 1/32 with no problem.. caught a just over 2 pounder, felt like a 5 on the bfs set up, love it, amazing fight on bfs even with the smaller guys lol

Thanks for this review. I have this rod and have an elf tsurinoya on mine. I did a short review on it. It can cast the trout magnet but it is not the best from what I can tell. I think is good for 1/32 and heavier lures, that are jig type or faster action use. This is still an early assumption from my part, I am a spinner Ultralight user getting into bfs.

A lot of discussion goes in to the reels but not enough guys talk about BFS rods and how to build up having 2 or 3 combos for small jerkbaits, crankbaits and jig rods. I think you should look at that kind of content. I’m in need of these types of rods.

I just got the FL 5'9 and UL 6'3 ....very stiff and very fast action. They are very nice to use....I was very surprised by the extra punch and distance with the UL vs the FL...I wont be fishing 1/32...so, I am very pleased with them. I got the combo...it's my first time using a bait caster and these seem to be very forgiving of my beginner clumsiness.

Thanks for the review. I picked up two of three options and look forward to trying them with the zephyr reels.

Have this rod with a Nako Flight feather reel. It's an absolute joy for walking a stream with just a couple Mule fishing plastics in your pocket. You're right that the tip is stiff, and it does help with working the bait in the water. You can compensate for it a bit when casting by just leaving more line out.
Unrelated note: the parts of the video without the background "music" are 100X better than where you added it. EDM cymbals are just annoying when you're trying to watch a peaceful creek and hear what you're saying.

Hows the durability? It looks like its clear coated, so that should help. Compared to the daiwa presso, do you think its more durable? Those two rods seem to be quite similar.

The fish in Florida footage is not Talapia; it's a Mayan Cichlid

I know this is a review for the KastKing rod review, but if money is no option, what would be the best trout magnet bfs rod? Reel?

well the Plume is the best for casting the trout magnet, but not the best for twitching it, at least for my preferences

do you think the kestrel is worth the $200 price point? i fished the zephyr very hard, i put that thing through the ringer for a year or two. was really disappointed with its quality and spool tensioner. had alot of issues and it gunked up very quickly. spool tensioner adjustment was really bad, goes from 0 to 100 in a less than a single click, making it unable to cast light lures effectively, and the brakes were okay, but it isnt worth 80 bucks to me. imo, the zephyr fishes like its a 30 dollar generic reel. kast king did the bfs market dirty with the zephyr, but is their kestrel worth spending $120 more for something thats actually functional?

I just got the kestrel a cpl weeks ago and I think it was worth the money, it's a good reel imo, have it on a 6'6" UL pole and have been casting 1/32 oz lures with no problem, it's a lil over braked so I took out two of the magnets from the braking system, that's really my only complaint is that it's a lil over powered on the brakes, but other than that I love it, it was a great addition to my bfs line up!!

you would get the same performance from the Valiant Eagle 2, or possibly the new non elite Kestrel for less money, unless you just have to have a magnesium frame reel.

@THEREELTEST that's like saying I won't use a hospital where the doctors went to school for a medical education. Or asking an illiterate person to translate the Bible. There is nothing wrong with getting an education, and the best education is studying the enemy. Beware of false teachers, including colleges, seminaries & universities.
Check out the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, great book about Lucifer, God's top angel based on original scriptures about the fall.
I've taken 3 years of Evangelism For Ministry at the University of the South so far. Very interesting studies of church history. From your scripture quotes, I see you're a follower of the Eastern Church of the Apostle Paul (Hagia Sophia) vs. the Western Church of Saint Peter (Catholic)... May the Peace of the Lord be always with you. I enjoy your quotes, BTW, seed planting.
