Elaine Shoemaker .....Hi Elaine, that's some testimony you shared! Would love you to share some more info on what happened to you, it sounds amazing. God bless x Southampton UK
Thank you for sharing Jim. I gather Chaga here on Ontario. Anxious to get out & find Polypore & other types. Can't beat the nature! It's as organic as we can get. Wish you well.
+Sonya Paterson Thank you for the well wishes Sonya. I'm glad you liked my video. I made a couple of chaga videos as well. Now I use a rasp file to bring the chaga into a fine powder and put about a teaspoon or so into a little filter bag that I have here for tea. I boil that up until the water is dark then let it steep as it cools to a drinkable temperature. I live in New Brunswick and we have birches everywhere!! It's a beautiful tree :-) Thanks for watching!

Well hello my friend in the Philippines! It has been a while since we spoke last. I remember being amazed at the growth of your channel when it hit 13,000 subscribers and now it is almost 19,000 with over 10 million views. Amazing growth to be sure! I am still struggling at 6,177 subscribers and just over 1 million views as of this morning. Since we last spoke, I have developed thyroid cancer and have had two surgeries to have it all removed. I've also had radiation treatments to kill off any remaining thyroid tissue. Now I have to take a pill every day to do some of the work my thyroid once did. I've made a playlist of my cancer journey and posted that on my main page. One of the reasons your channel has enjoyed such growth is the frequency that you post videos. You post at least one a day it seems, and some days you post more than one. By comparison, I try to post four videos a month, some months I manage to post five but on the average month I only post three. I know you don't need any more advice from me because your channel is already more successful than mine will ever be, but I noticed on your channel's home page it says "This channel does not have any content" which isn't true. You probably have a thousand videos by now. You really should put something up on your home page for viewers to see if they happen across your channel. Here is your home page: ruclips.net/channel/UCFuFHFgHPya17g6lbKrlCXg. Now compare it to mine: ruclips.net/user/MuskratJim. Mine has a short channel trailer explaining what my channel is about, and I also show several playlists to encourage people to watch. I would strongly suggest you add something to yours in case someone happens to click on your channel. Wishing you all the best from Atlantic Canada, and I hope you and your family are doing well.
your place is so spotless! somebody I know hated mowing around all of his white birch trees because he worked so many hours. so, he pulled them out. made me sad. they are beautiful.
Yes, reishi mushroom is a powerful adaptogen and immune modulator and is quite revered by the Traditional Chinese Medicine and others . We are blessed here in Nova Scotia by its presence. I wouldn't be surprised, if it grows 'round Your parts there, Jim. Around here they grow on hemlock stumps. There's all kinds of info out there, here's one link, if You feel like checking it out. Warmth and Light !
If they are growing on hemlock they are slightly different than reshi but in the same family and work the same from what I hear... I've seen a few here very beautiful mushrooms
Very informative video Jim.. Have to say I did like the melting ice in the background. Sounds like springs is on the way. I hope. I'm already tired of winter. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Jim, as always, a pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing this information. I have run across this while harvesting chaga. Good to know about this one, the young ones are better I would imagine, before they get woody. Take care and God bless.
Here in South Central PA(US) it grows on black birch. We also use black birch twigs for tea for UTI's and bladder infections, plus the birch tea tastes great!
u want to boil the water then steep it covering pot the longer the better 1 hour at least! all that steam is the stuff u want to stay in there ur losing valuable goodies! and remove the pores it will be a lot less bitter! mix with chaga for better flavor!
Yes, an amazing plant. We have millions of them here, but they're all small. Less than a foot in diameter. Nothing big enough to build canoes, or even large sheets of bark for shelter making .
Hey! Thanks for the video! I woke up with a cold two days ago. I went out bear hunting and just happened to bring home some mushrooms to ID. One was this guy! Time to boil some water! -Your Neighbor in Alaska
+Matt Gutacker Glad I could help an Alaskan neighbor! I have another long-time friend in Alaska. His name is Lonnie and he does RUclips videos too. You probably already know him, Far North Bushcraft and Survival. If you don't already sub him, tell him Muskrat Jim sent you!
+Joseph martin Ok, great. Everybody does their teas differently. Your method would use less fuel which is a good idea even if you're using a wood fire. Thanks!
I really do not like birch bracelet polypore as a tea. Chaga has all the same plus more medicinal properties when ingested. But I've heard that the birch bracket can also be used as a bandage. Good video.
I've only recently found your channel. I've found every vid informative and enjoyable. And one scary. The arm extension. Do you also eat roofing nails? Cool to see.
LOL.... I've been building another arm extender. So this spring I'll bring it out for target practice. You can expect to see a fourth video in the Arm Extender series!!
Did you watch Moby Dick? One of the captains had an arm with a harpoon head. My son is in Afghanistan. Depending on which body part gets blown off, he wants something tasteful, ìn mahogany or Walnut, with like a lion foot or Eagle claw. You remember when guys were ashamed to let people know they lost limbs? It's so much healthier today. And good stories too. Good looking guy like you, story about fighting off 12 Taliban, or multiple crocodiles, or, in Canada, a hybrid polar/brown bear. "Oh Jim how did you win?" "I didnt-they ate me! "
Funny stories.... If you want MY story, watch my "Meet the Bushcrafter" videos. I said videos because there's a short one and an Extended version. The first one I had to edit it down to get it under the 10-minute limit I had when I first started my RUclips channel. The Extended version is much better. I also did a video on Remembrance Day... I think it's the Bivy-Hammock video... I talk about war and my personal feelings towards our men in green. Hey, best of luck to your son in Afghanistan. I really hope he comes back in one piece. Being handicapped SUCKS and don't let anyone tell you differently. I'm glad you're enjoying my videos.
Been wanting to go hunt mushrooms of this sort. But i live in the middle of a desert. I have only seen a chaga once in California and i recently found some turkey tail on my last visit. Wish i had some of that fungi you found. So many uses and i like to practice the ole timer skills. I dont use matches or lighters so that mushroom is the thing im looking for.
Dried hose hoof mushroom is a bracket fungus that you're looking for. It is often called False Tinder Fungus because Chaga is the True Tinder Fungus. The fungus in this video is called razor-strop fungus because it's tough rubbery texture can be used as a knife strop for making knives razor sharp (after they've been properly sharpened of course). Birches don't grow in dry climates like your desert, so you won't find any of these fungi in your area.
AWESOME video .. thank u... I Want to go mushroom hunting soon,, I find their power amazing!!! GOD is magnificent!!! ♥ Do mushroom freeze and become less potent???
+maryjomatey Hi. I believe freezing doesn't effect the potency as the mushrooms freeze, every winter. I freeze Chaga mushroom After i have used it. Then use it to make a tincture which is drawing the Oil properties out of the Chaga with Vodka. I don't know how the oil properties are with Polypore.
Sugar is bad for you... LOL I just stopped putting sugar in my coffee a couple of months ago. The polypore tea wasn't any more bitter than coffee without sugar.
Well they're not poisonous but I wouldn't make a meal of it. It's really for medicine..The tea was not unpleasant. Which reminds me, that business you're getting into, will you be setting up shop like Tim Hortons or is it just recruiting resellers like those pyramid schemes (AmWay, etc.)?
Thank You ! There is a few infected birch trees around us here in the forest, I'll be sure to make some tea. I brewed up a beautiful reishi into a tea today and it has a pleasantly bitter taste. Did the birch polypore tea help with your cold ?
I've never heard of reishi before, is it a fungus? I don't think the one cup of tea helped my cold much, but the flavor was mild and pleasant, not bitter.
Hey, awesome, im glad to see you slice it, I didn't think of it... Did it help you feel any better or get over it quicker? Im very curious. I went and got myself some today, im going to have to find out how to store it if possible.
I was wondering. I got myself some chaga today also and they say to boil it for 2 hours. So, it's on the stove for a 2 hour try...lol Very interesting what these tree mushrooms contain. Thanks for answering.
Two hours? Your pot will boil dry in two hours. I just put a chunk in a small pot and boiled it until the water was the color I thought it should be. Here, check out my video: ruclips.net/video/1R2BGfvwMf8/видео.html
+Dean Harris I know that cooking kills off some of the vitamin C, so you might be right. Probably best to bring it to a boil then let it steep over a low heat.
FlxAlxFlx That video was five years ago, so I don’t really remember. Also with natural remedies you can take as much as you like without worrying unlike modern medicine. I only drank one cup of tea, but I’m sure a cup every couple of hours would have helped more.
@@MuskratJim Although the tea does taste good. From what I was told, you are not suppose to drink more than 1 cup a day. Like anything too much of something good can be bad.
+Neil Mathewson I boiled them until the water turned a nice golden color... probably about five minutes. The longer you boil them the darker the water gets.
Hi +Muskrat Jim, thats excellent thanks for getting back to me. Did it work? did it cure your cold? I picked up a Birch Polypore last weekend and have been drying it all week so that I can use it if I get ill this fall. I'll let you know how I get on if the man flu strikes :-)
I'm here in VT, could this be confused with any other type of fungus that could be potentially harmful or is this (and chaga) mainly what is found on all White/Yellow Birch trees?
I don't think you could misidentify it. As long as it is on a birch, creamy whitish-yellow on top and underneath, no sharp edges, and the undersides is sponge-like instead of paper-thin ridges like most other mushrooms. My advice is to take a Field Guide with good colored pictures into the woods with you and compare it to the pictures in the book. I'm sure there are no potentially dangerous look-alikes for this species.
+Seed of life Johnson Are you going to send me a picture or something? It should look EXACTLY like the ones in this video AND they only grow on dying birch trees. If the polypore is too old, it will lose it's "fresh look" and become darker and pitted.
Well I had that one cup of tea and ate that small piece, and I don't feel any better today than I did yesterday. I've also had several Neo-Citronella and some Benylin cough syrup too. I guess it just have to let it run its course.
I would think that it is more of a preventative. Ie taken regularly to assist immune system. Rather than a cure.bit like echinacea Also I would just try a little first in case of a allergic reaction (Just my tenpunce worth )
It actually does in fact have many of the same properties as acemannan (mannose) which is found in aloe vera - only when it as been isolated and stabilized, has been shown to inhibit coronaviruses- it helped my wife and I earlier this year to eliminate all the covid19 symptoms and I also noticed my Lyme disease symptoms disappearing. I did a video on my channel to spread the awareness of this proven compound... works synergistically with a few of the polypores and chaga, etc
Thank you Jim, I was looking to find out how to make polypore tea. I drink Chaga and have some birch polypores dried and wasn't sure if making the tea was the same as Chaga and what benefits it has. Again Thanks!
Chaga is a mushroom that grows on birch trees also. It is tremendous in health benefits and tastes much better (with raw honey) than the birch polypore. I found that to be a little too bitter. www.chagaknowledge.com/chagabenefits.htm is a good link to learn about chaga and it's benefits.
hi thanks for the video was very informative.Have u tried mixing it with honey?maybe make it easier to drink? think I will try this as I not been feeling well for a while thankyou shaz
I ate one in the video when it was really small. It was only about the size of a pea, but it was really chewy like a piece of leather. No I didn't try eating a piece after it cooked for a long time. I don't know if it softened up at all.
Do you only harvest this fungus from live trees...I see it everywhere on standing dead birch. Also, is this the same as horse hoof, or is it a different fungus all together?
@@MuskratJim thanks...I'm trying to learn more about the traditional medicines of my people...I'm L'nu (mi'kmaq) from Nova Scotia. I'm pretty sure this was a traditional medicine here
I was just wondering if this would be edible. Some books said it wasn't, but cited bitter taste as the reason. I wanted to know if it's poisonous. Apparently it isn't - I checked your latest vids and looks like you still alive lol Nice one :) I mostly use it for stropping blades and wound dressing. They stop bleeds like nothing I've ever used. Unfortunately, I had a chance to use it last night :)
The baby polypore that I ate was bitter, but worse than that it was chewy like a rubber tire. It didn't make me sick at all, even though I ate that small one and drank the tea on the same day. I don't know for sure if it helped my cold either, but one thing is for sure, it made a comforting worm tea to drink when I was feeling a little sick. I've tried stropping a blade on it but never tried it for first-aid treatment for cuts. I recently had thyroid cancer and had my thyroid completely removed in January. My wife half-jokingly says I got cancer because I eat lots of wild stuff... who knows?
I hope you're better now. I don't think eating wild edibles would give anyone cancer :) That said, there are plants and fungi which can definitely increase the risk. The thing is, they're usually not called 'edibles' lol
You can store it for long periods. Either keep it in the refrigerator loosely wrapped like other vegetables, or dry it out. I dried mine. Whether it still has all the benefits of fresh polypore, only a chemical analysis in a lab could tell you that. I wouldn't harvest a lot for the purpose of long-term storage because it is quite abundant around here (in Atlantic Canada). It is easy just to go out and get some fresh stuff when I want it.
Can anyone tell me if it is safe or good to make a tea out of a Quaking Aspen Polypore conk? I know the ones I got have pores and they are definitely polypore mushrooms. But I can't find anything about them. Are they any good for medicinal uses?
We have Poplars here in Eastern Canada, they're close to the Western Quaking Aspens, but I've never seen anything on them other than Horsehoof Fungus. It has pores instead of fins. It is also known as False Tinder Fungus, and the dried internals can catch a spark. It is also referred to as Amadou. I've never heard of anyone trying to make a tea out of it. Here's a video of what I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/HHku227bbK4/видео.html 50 seconds into the video you can see what I'm talking about.
Well thank you, I am gonna keep searching. The conks smell a lot like vanilla but I know they are Conks not Chaga or anything. But I want to utilize them so I have to find something lol
Leaves and inner bark of willow trees has the same chemical as Asprin and Ibuprophen. So that would be a pain killer. Chamomile flowers brewed into a tea has a relaxing effect on the body. I sometimes have Chamomile tea before going to bed.
No I've never tried it but I know the plant. I remember picking them when I was very young and liking the smell of them. I should try it on my next opportunity!
So funny just watched another video about polypore and you also made same mistake as previous author and incorrectly identify tree. So I repeat the same message. This mushrooms grow on other trees as well. A lot of people can not correctly identify birch tree and mistaken it with aspen. Polypore is best which collected from birch tree. For your information the tree at beginning of video 1:04 is not birch tree but aspen tree. So make sure you correctly identify tree. P.S. What he says about mushroom is correct but please be warn do not touch your eyes after handling mushroom. You will get allergic reaction for 1 week.
I had bad personal experience. I was preparing (slicing) polypores for drying and I touched my eyes. Next day got allergic reaction. I do not eat them I make potions in autumn-winter season.
If you want easily eat them collect when they are just poping out from tree and not bigger than 3-5sm in diameter. At that stage they are soft and not so bad. But what is a point to eat them when there are plenty of edible mushrooms. But to get medicinal use of polypore is best to make potions to support immune system.
Finally Found I’m not 100% sure but I’d recommend drinking a tea sweetened with real honey if the infection is in your throat. If it’s in your lungs or somewhere else, you should see a doctor and get an antibiotic.
@@MuskratJim the doctors turned me away because my insurance was discontinued apparently. .. but I trust God and I believe He gave us all our treatments and cures in His wonderful creation! I know raw honey has anti bacterial properties as well as raw garlic and ginger and horseradish, lemon, is also medicinal gifts from God
Hi Olivia, Like any other plant, if a large enough piece is left behind intact it may regenerate. This tree had two large brackets and several small buds. Even if the base of the one I picked doesn't re-grow, the other smaller buds will eventually replace the bracket I took, until the tree dies. Thanks for asking!
it is amazing and I do have one of these trees near my work,I am very tempted to take a piece -I am just trying to make sure it is the same tree, and i do not eat something harmful. Are ther any poisoness trees I need to know about? thank you for your answer..
There are no poisonous trees in Canada, but some saps are very, very bitter. As for fungi, there are poisonous ones that can make you hallucinate, others that will make you sick, and others that can kill. Unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure about a fungus, it's best to avoid them as a food source. There are always other (safer) food choices for the forager :)
I just checked and indeed there is a Canadian Yew, which is toxic like its relatives: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxus_canadensis Thanks for pointing this out Douglas.
You can get the most use out of medicinal mushrooms when you fully dry them with the bottom side up near a wood stove, then powder it down and store it in a miron glass container. This will make the mushroom last much longer.
+Mariana Roberts Thank you!
Actually grinding them down is bad, because it will simply support it breaking down quicker. You should grind up mushrooms only when using them.
Thank you for the video! This tea is also good to get rid of parasites. I make all my mushroom teas in a crock pot over night, on low. It works nicely. I found that if I crock-pot the Birch Polypore for a few days it makes it easier to eat.

Thank you for the video. I found some of these today and plan on trying your tea. My brother has been quite ill.
Best wishes to your brother!!
It's a beautiful tree :-)
Thanks for watching!
Hey Jim Love your work The young Polypore are great to eat sliced thin and cooked in Butter Or in a soup

Thanks so much Jim. Appreciate your time. Hope it helped you feel better. 🤗 This video is a while back I see. Keep shining on sunshine. 💚🇨🇦

hi Muskrat Jim, how are you doing? thanks for the nice video and thanks for your encouragement a while back, it helped me from getting discouraged
Yes, I love birches, they are EVERYWHERE here :-)
Do you collect birch water in the spring.
Very nice video bye the way

Yes, reishi mushroom is a powerful adaptogen and immune modulator and is quite revered by the Traditional Chinese Medicine and others . We are blessed here in
Nova Scotia by its presence. I wouldn't be surprised, if it grows 'round Your parts there, Jim. Around here they grow on hemlock stumps. There's all kinds of info out there, here's one link, if You feel like checking it out.

If they are growing on hemlock they are slightly different than reshi but in the same family and work the same from what I hear... I've seen a few here very beautiful mushrooms
Great stuff Jim and I hope you feel better soon.

I hope so too, if not I'll have to use 'regular' medicine or wait for it to run its course. Thanks for watching!!
This is the first time I've heard you can polish a blade on a _mushroom_, and it looks surprisingly tough while you're cutting it too.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eye out! The birch tree is an amazing thing!
Yes, an amazing plant. We have millions of them here, but they're all small. Less than a foot in diameter. Nothing big enough to build canoes, or even large sheets of bark for shelter making .
+Muskrat Jim , Try putting a wet cloth under your cutting board, that should stop it from sliding around.
+eviljames12 Hey, thanks for the tip!
I've found it on poplar's in North eastern Ontario Canada

I really do not like birch bracelet polypore as a tea.
Chaga has all the same plus more medicinal properties when ingested.
But I've heard that the birch bracket can also be used as a bandage.
Good video.

Thank you Jim so great
I have this Birch Tree mushroom in my backyard 2014
Glad to be of help.
Actually it should also decrease rustning og knives
+Intobalance Buschcraft Really? I didn't know that... must be the oils of the fresh polypore when you strop. That's great!!
Hi Jim - this is my first visit with you but definitely not my last, great stuff!

Do mushroom freeze and become less potent???
+maryjomatey I don't think freezing harms them... I'm glad you liked this video, and yes... GOD IS magnificent!
Good video Jim
I'll have to try it.
Did it work on your cold?
I believe it did, even though I only had that one cup of golden tea.

Nice video. I had no idea you could eat those.
Idont Existou I didn't feel better right away, maybe I should have had some more later.
I would watch boiling it as that may destroy the medicinal properties of it. Just my thoughts.
+Dean Harris I know that cooking kills off some of the vitamin C, so you might be right. Probably best to bring it to a boil then let it steep over a low heat.
+Dean Harris HI.. I use a small crock pot. Just let it simmer away, it's always hot & easy on hydro.
You can boil Polyspore for more than 4 hours and nothing of the health benefits would get destroyed
You can also use it as a Band-Aid
Hey Jim. Remember the song "Muskrat love"? lol
Did the tea work? Did you feel your immune system kick in?
VitalityMassage yeah... I won't be using "Muskrat Love" as a theme song any time soon. I think the tea may have worked. It certainly didn't poison me.
Is there anything growing on a birch tree that would look like chaga or this polypore that could be dangerous to consume?
ruclips.net/video/M1ciMTGNPEM/видео.html
I’ve been hearing that all wild mushrooms should be cooked. How did you fare after eating those buttons?
I was fine, but I’m not a mushroom/ fungus expert. I’ve eaten very little wild mushrooms. I tend to stay away from them.
Did it make you feel better Jim?
FlxAlxFlx That video was five years ago, so I don’t really remember. Also with natural remedies you can take as much as you like without worrying unlike modern medicine. I only drank one cup of tea, but I’m sure a cup every couple of hours would have helped more.
@@MuskratJim Although the tea does taste good. From what I was told, you are not suppose to drink more than 1 cup a day. Like anything too much of something good can be bad.
Good work Jim! how long did you boil the mushrooms before it was ready to drink? Thanks Neil
I think it would have helped if I had more than just one cup for the video. If the polypore is dry you'll need a saw to cut it into strips.
Mushrooms can be very dangerous sometimes experts make mistake
Yes, mushrooms can be dangerous. It is best to use other plants for food. Remember also animals and insects as food in a survival situation.
If you use some fresh stevia with it to sweeten it would that affect the healing properties?
I don't think so. A little bit of honey would help to sweeten it as well as soothing your throat with honey's natural antibiotic properties.
Thanks muskrat Jim can you verify a birch polypore for me?
+Seed of life Johnson Are you going to send me a picture or something? It should look EXACTLY like the ones in this video AND they only grow on dying birch trees. If the polypore is too old, it will lose it's "fresh look" and become darker and pitted.
Good video buddy, i new this was used for tea, tho never tried this tho. good stuff thanks bro.
Well I had that one cup of tea and ate that small piece, and I don't feel any better today than I did yesterday. I've also had several Neo-Citronella and some Benylin cough syrup too. I guess it just have to let it run its course.
ya those type of plants, like all other medicine, will help a cold but nothing can cure a cold. Have a great day buddy.
Yeah it's a beautiful sunny day today.... thinking it's a good day for a BBQ
I think Chaga is more beneficial due to the high SOD. What do you think?
"High SOD"???
either that is really tough to cut or your knife is dull lol just messin with ya
Taraz Pariseau LOL :) I was using my regular kitchen chef knife. Maybe I should sharpen it ...
+Taraz Pariseau Hi, yes, out with the jacket, lol.
Could this be used to treat COVID-19?
ismailAx2011 I am not a scientist, so I really don’t know.
I would think that it is more of a preventative. Ie taken regularly to assist immune system. Rather than a cure.bit like echinacea
Also I would just try a little first in case of a allergic reaction
(Just my tenpunce worth )
You're welcome and I hope it helped!
+Robin Aldrich What is " Chaga "
What is chaga ?
Chaga is a mushroom that grows on birch trees also. It is tremendous in health benefits and tastes much better (with raw honey) than the birch polypore. I found that to be a little too bitter. www.chagaknowledge.com/chagabenefits.htm is a good link to learn about chaga and it's benefits.

+sharon x No I haven't tried honey. Honey is good for you anyway. Good idea!
Hey Jim, did you think to try the sliced mushroom after it was boiled?
Yes I did. It was quite rubbery. It made me think of raw squid, so I didn't eat it.
Did the tea help you kick your cold faster? :)
I only drank one cup of the tea, but I seem to think it helped. That was three and a half years ago.
And how long should they be boiled for a good strong tea??
+maryjomatey I boiled it for at least 10 minutes I think. I just kept boiling it until the tea was a beautiful golden colour.
Can you eat them when there small & white? they seem like you could eat them?? Well Did you try eating it after you cook it for a real long time!1
I ate one in the video when it was really small.
Yes, you only harvest it from live trees if you’re going to use it for medicinal purposes. Horse hoof is a different fungus.

Apparently it isn't - I checked your latest vids and looks like you still alive lol Nice one :)
I mostly use it for stropping blades and wound dressing.
LOL
can u harvest this in keep it stored for a long period of time or do u have to use it right away
Muskrat Jim okay cooll thanks
It is better not to boil the water to profit from it's virtues. And it is the same for all other plants you want to make infusions with
I know over-cooking anything destroys Vitamin C.
Certainly one of my all time favourites. Can actually also be used to cook a stew - I did that here:
ruclips.net/video/qbCZJ9mwM0o/видео.html
Thank you for stopping by my channel. I visited yours and subscribed.
Did it help?
Yes, I think it did. By the way, that is the only wild fungus or mushroom that I've ever eaten. No wait, I've also had Chaga tea.
@@MuskratJim 10:4.
Here's a video of what I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/HHku227bbK4/видео.html
50 seconds into the video you can see what I'm talking about.
Well thank you, I am gonna keep searching. The conks smell a lot like vanilla but I know they are Conks not Chaga or anything. But I want to utilize them so I have to find something lol
Good luck to you!
Thank you!
I read somewhere that these were used by the natives as a seditive... am I thinking of the wrong thing?
Leaves and inner bark of willow trees has the same chemical as Asprin and Ibuprophen. So that would be a pain killer. Chamomile flowers brewed into a tea has a relaxing effect on the body. I sometimes have Chamomile tea before going to bed.
camomile is good. have you ever tried pineapple weed? it's better known as wild chamomile, and makes great tea.
No I've never tried it but I know the plant. I remember picking them when I was very young and liking the smell of them. I should try it on my next opportunity!
yeah, it's a neat plant. they are called pineapple because of their smell. I harvested a bunch last year and sold it at a farmers market.
I believe i have a bacterial infection will this help?
Finally Found I’m not 100% sure but I’d recommend drinking a tea sweetened with real honey if the infection is in your throat. If it’s in your lungs or somewhere else, you should see a doctor and get an antibiotic.
@@MuskratJim the doctors turned me away because my insurance was discontinued apparently. .. but I trust God and I believe He gave us all our treatments and cures in His wonderful creation! I know raw honey has anti bacterial properties as well as raw garlic and ginger and horseradish, lemon, is also medicinal gifts from God
@@naturaltrees3997 God bless you, Sister. Yes, by all means trust God and He will heal you.
👍👍👍
hey Jim, will they keep growing after you pick them all off the tree ? Or will that be it?
Hi Olivia,
Like any other plant, if a large enough piece is left behind intact it may regenerate.
Muskrat Jim And there I was thinking yew trees grew in Canada.
I just checked and indeed there is a Canadian Yew, which is toxic like its relatives: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxus_canadensis
Thanks for pointing this out Douglas.
I thought the polypores medicinals are supposed to be juveniles
+2coryman They aren't supposed to be old and rotting, but if they're healthy looking like these they should be good.
