I was fortunate enough to have a pod/school Of Manta Rays swim underneath me, about 20-30 of them. But this encounter is pure magic! How lucky & beautiful guys. Cheers!!
@@shirsN seriously? 1. u can't get that close to them if they (the mantas) don't want, 2. Not you are going that close, the mantas do and 3. fear is just a result of ignorance (eg this situation). Why should someone be scared of something like a peaceful plankton eating creature? Even facing a shark u don't have to be scared if u know what ure doing. Don't be scared, be respectful 👌. Cheers.
I came here after an extremely vivid dream I had about cliff diving into the most beautiful blue clear/blue water and having a close encounter with a giant manta ray. It was so real and I became lucid (realized i was dreaming). On top of that, I had my two daughters with me (my reason for living) and we could all breath under the water as we swam in this heavenly water with this beautiful creature. It was one of the most amazing dreams I ever had. After I woke up, I had to look that dream up, and I was blown away by the coincidences that connected my wake life to the dream interpretation.
OMG, it was nearly completely _black_ ! You guys must be lucky to encounter a melanist manta ray - I heard they are quite rare. Majestic experience, I'm envious as hell))
That was beautiful! I cried when the Manta Ray slowly floated on top of you. I could only imagine what that felt like to be so close & connected to such a majestic creature ❤️
I cannot explain what it is about this show. I discovered it by accident on some backwater channel several years ago and it really blew me away. Never has anything or anyone inspired me to get out and travel like descending has. I do feel a little bummed at times watching though because Scott and Ellis and the rest of the gang not only seem like the luckiest divers in the world getting to hit all these amazing dive sites around the world that I'll never see they also have so much fun doing it. Makes one wish one were there for the party cause even if one had the time, money, and training to dive all the same sites, it wouldn't be half as cool without Ellis' charisma or Anna's lighting setting the scene.
Some people: "It's so beautiful! What an experience!" Some other people: "It looks like the devil himself! What an ominous creature to be close to!" Ray: "Hello."
Swam with some of these beasts near Komodo. I don't dive, but we saw close to a dozen swimming around us near the surface! One of the most amazing things I have ever experienced.
I was snorkeling in the bay in Miami FL and a huge Ray was on the floor and took off right in front of me it was such a wonderful site! I will never forget it.
Brought a teat to my eyes, I remember fishing with my Dad and seeing huge rays come close to the boat similar to this, being in the domain swimming with them would be fantastic, they are beautiful...
Mother nature is the best designer of all time, no man-made machine would ever match the graceful and elegant shape, proportions and movement of a big ray.
A group of sharks is a shiver, one of the names for a group of eels is a fry, and we need a petition to officially call a group of manta rays a Big Man.
what a beautiful creature. Of all the sea creatures in oceans, Manta Rays are about the most favorite. Right next to the Groupers and French Angelfish and Lionfish.
1:50 I just gotta ask, that equipment the diver is wearing, does that allow him to breathe normally through his nose? cause he's talking and everything. I thought divers only had mouth regulators
Hey Mark, we have solid plans to get Descending on Netflix hopefully by the new year. If your in the States you can already watch it on OutsideTV. It's available for download from iTunes pretty much anywhere. We also plan to release it here on RUclips for rental and purchase for those who want to see it in 4K / UHD the way it was shot.
Just finished departures on Netflix too, gutted it's over, loved the entire thing start to finish, particularly liked the lack of pretence in how it comes across to the viewer, definitely gives more of an embedded feel for the viewer, you get a real sense that humidity and mosquitos are a bother and not an overly polished scripted travel show that paints a constant rose tinted picture, elongated travelling is gritty and that's what makes it real, perfectly delivered by the hosts, stomach cramps and all.
The biggest manta I ever saw was on a trip to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina on shipwreck dives about 23 years ago. One had to have at least a 20 foot/6 meter wingspan. Several others there were also larger than I've seen elsewhere over about 30 years of diving.
I was so sad when the series was taken off Netflix I’ve watched ever episode 5 times or more. I love you guys what are you up to these days? I hope still traveling I miss new footage
Juz meet them during snorkeling in Nusa Penida, Bali... They are majestic.. yet somehow their size is quite frightening.. They’re truly, the ghost of the sea!

Sounds like a name Ozziemanreviews would call them

One of the coolest creatures on the planet for sure. Every time I see one it always seem like they're smiling. Just radiates peace.
I love that last line
Same here 😊it happen to be for me the best depression and Anxiety therapy support creature 🥰🥰😍😍

Amazing! Where did you find the Manta Rays?
In open waters off of Cancun, Mexico in June 2014. It was the cherry on the cake after swimming with 4 Whale Sharks :)
These creatures seem peaceful but then still how can you go so so close to them? How can you not scare to such a huge fish?

They’re the eagles of the ocean. They’re so beautiful 😍❤️
My favorite marine animal as a kid. I had forgotten about these animals. They are truly one of the most majestic creatures to ever have existed.
I hope you get to go swim with them… child you has probably been waiting for that for a long time
Why am i crying watching this 😭 they just look so majestic swimming around the ocean. In my next life i'd like to be a manta ray.

Seems like they're curious creatures!
Just like most of the animals with big brains they seem to have that natural urge to learn and experience things.
Biggest brain off all cold blooded fish
One word that describes Manta Rays:
✨MAJESTIC✨

This was an amazing video!!! Why doesn't this have more views!
Because people are disconnected from nature and are more concerned about the real important stuff... like how many Likes they got on facebook.
They do now.
