Homemade vanilla extract is the perfect simple project to do at home for a year's supply of vanilla. This is also an exceptionally thoughtful gift for anyone in your life that enjoys baking.
If you bake then you probably already know just how much pure vanilla extract costs. You might also be aware of just how small those bottles are that you buy in the store and how frustrating it can be to run out of them in the middle of your favorite recipe.
Well try this and prevent the need to run back to the store the next time you want to whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies or bake your favorite treat for your family.

Have you ever tried to make your own vanilla? How long did it take before the extract was ready to use?

I finally did it 😂 I have been thinking of it for a while. I wish I had done it a couple months ago so I had it for holiday baking, but it’s okay. This batch should be ready for #50dollarFeburary2023 are you participating in that?

Homemade vanilla is so good, and a money saver too! There are so many different instructions about how long to let it extract, but I find that mine tastes best when I let it sit a full year. It’s hard to wait, but so much better than storebought if you wait that long! The key is to keep starting new batches so after that first year wait you never have to wait again!
