    #1: leave your phone at home, or keep it in airplane;
    #2: never go out alone;
    #3: never leave your friends;
    #4: always tell someone where you are going;
    #5: never accept a drink from a stranger, even if the bartender hands it to you;
    Never believe that you are special. Anyone can be hurt or killed.
    The problem is this: young people feel 10 foot tall, and bulletproof. Trying to protect young people is like trying to herd cats.

    It's safer to use a phone without an unlock code, and the only way to change information is by entering the lengthy account password, which will be unknown to the thieves because people rarely enter that in.

    How about using the facial rec feature so you don’t have to enter a password.
    Personally, I preferred the finger-print sensor home button from older iPhones, and I would like to see that back again.

    BAD reporting NBC...you don't ever say how a thief gets a phone passcode in the FIRST place, and yet say that making more complicated/longer passcodes are a solution...WHY can't the thief get the longer passcode the same way that they are getting the shorter one?! It is hard to say SINCE YOU DONT EXPLAIN HOW THEY GET IT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND WHY LONGER WOULD BE DIFFERENT!

    • @Damariobros
      @Damariobros 9 месяцев назад

      They did not get rid of it. You go to Settings, tap on your name, go to Sign In & Security, then go to Account Recovery, then Recovery Key.
      Tbh I wouldn't enable recovery key unless you're okay with it disabling all other methods of account recovery and password recovery, and are prepared to take really really _really_ good care of that key. It disables recovery contacts AND the forgot password button, and the only way in if you lose your 2FA or password and your Apple devices is that one single recovery key. Apple Support also can't help you get your data back when it's enabled.

  • @user9b2
    @user9b2 Год назад +8

    2:47 this is not exactly correct, you can only have a single four digit code, it locks everything under screen time.
    To prevent someone from accessing and changing your account when your device is unlocked (or even when they know your device password)
    Enable "screen Time" with a passcode. **keep this in a save place at home**
    Go into "Screen Time" / "Content & Privacy Restrictions and disable" and change the permissions to "Don’t Allow" for the following two categories:
    Passcode Changes -> "Don’t Allow"
    Account Changes -> "Don’t Allow"

    There are 10,000 possible 4 digit passcode combinations even with a passcode cracker it would take time to guess the combination. In 18 seconds she guessed the passcode come on people. The IPhone was already unlocked and obviously for the sake of the story she already knew the passcode.

    • @purplemist7
      @purplemist7 Год назад +1

      It wasn't mentioned in this report, but the reason this whole operation works is because thieves see you inputting your password beforehand, so they don't have to crack anything. This is why it's advised that you instead use facial recognition to unlock your phone when out in public or fingerprint ID for the older phones.
