About Zagreb train disaster. It was not mentioned that the driver and co-driver were working for two full days without any sleep. They were supposed to enter the station travelling 40km/h, but instead were going over 100km/h. They were falling in and out of sleep and even tried braking, but it was too late and the speed was too great. Rest in peace to all killed in the accident.
Thank you for the video! I did the same trip on September 23, enjoyed the landscape as you did but our trip was delayed by construction works between Zagreb and Ogulin. That caused us more than an hour delay. Thus, night came long before Knin (that's where you stopped filming) and some of the best views weren't possible. The nausea was certainly not because of altitude - the route does not cross higher than 1000m - but because of the tilting train. The two-carriage consist looks like one of the tilting diesel trains that Deutsche Bahn uses in the Allgäu for Regionalexpresses and has no electricity sockets, causing many passengers to walk through the train in search of one. First class is not recommended: same seating but less window view, at least for my seat (No. 32). You were lucky arriving in time in Split! But I recommend the route, especially in summer when days are longer, and Split is worth being visited!
you didn't take a picture of the Knin fortress that can be seen from the train, instead you took a picture of the entrance to the station because you were taking pictures from the WRONG side.
Danke!
The Zagreb train disaster was indeed a tragic event that left a lasting mark on the region. in 1974 August 30 153 people died when the Belgrade-Dortmund high-speed train derailed. Thanks for the video.
How long did the trip take? The usual 12 hours or you took the rapid train and got to Split in 11 hours? HŽ is probably the worst national train operator in Europe lol
LOL. Not. The trip takes about 7,5 hrs, through difficult terrain. Average speed is 60km/h. Train departs at about 130 m ASL, has to climb up to 800 m ASL, down to about 550. Then it goes up to 800m, down to about 250, again to about 400m, and finally down to virtually 0. Construction of the line was very difficult, using the technology that was available at the time. Some parts were upgraded, and some parts are being upgraded. Do your research and then comment.
@@avarielhr Do your research? I live in Croatia, have almost 40 years of experience with unreliability of Croatian trains and could write memoires about idiotic situations and issues I encountered on my train journeys lol. The longest train journey from Zagreb to Split I had the pleasure to be a part of lasted for impressive 14 hours. That's 14 hours for 400km, on an express train. :D The shortest one, by pendolino in 2008, lasted for 5 hours, it was a transit ray of hope, but one that was unfortunately and suddenly extinguished by an idiot that spilled industrial oil on rails, causing derailment with fatalities, after which pendolino was never in service again. Croatian rail network is by far the worst in EU by every single parameter.
@@agnezabarutanski1963 Not only do I research, I travel the distance, sometimes physically, other times virtually. And I very well know the situation. Znate gospođo, od osamdesetih sam putovao tom i drugim rutama u Hrvatskoj i tu još uvijek živim. Maybe you had the opportunity to experience some bad trips, when bad situations happen. A lot of people could write memoires about it. You have a right to complain, but the sarcastic comments about train journey to other people's videos are truly sad. How much experience do you have with other local railways? Try Greece, Albania, or some other. Maybe you will start to appreciate what you have, as bad or good as it is. Also, first you mentioned Europe, now EU. Still, try some EU railways. I am sorry if you were on the train that derailed. It was in 2009., however. And the tilting train in Croatia is not a pendolino, because pendolino's are Italian, and this one is German (RegioSwinger).
@@avarielhr Thanks for writing the new testament as a response to to a silly comment that was an attempt to reflect what many Croatians consider to be the sad reality of Croatian railways. And yes, I traveld quite a lot and absolutely every country outside Balkans has far better railway compared to Croatia. This includes Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
@@agnezabarutanski1963 I doubt it, Mrs. Silly Comment About Sad Reality. So why don't you move there and get a service you deserve? Why you keep on using HŽ, who is forcing you? Don't you have a car like everyone else who doesn't like mass transit options in Croatia?
A very interesting and beautifull country. Greetings from Romania !
🙂 We never travel in Croatia, but after your video we are motivated to try the same Train as You 🍒🍒🍒

🙂 Hello, it is interessting to read your comment which has a few useful tips... Great to organise our futur trip 👍
Thank you for your insights. Yes, the train was wobbling a lot, so I think that's why it got bad.

Beautiful route. If only there would have been still carriages with windows that can be opened.
Yes, it would be much more interesting.

Stunning route but a really 💩 little train.
