YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES & one more YES!!! I, too, came here to beg you to react to this song! I'm a brand new subscriber (less than a week!), but I've been watching for a couple of months. I think Rick's Cry For Help will bring tears to your eyes, especially if you have a strong woman in your life (mom, partner, friend, etc.). And one of the reasons I've come to enjoy watching your videos so much is because of your instant understanding of deeper level meaning lyrics, and your sensitivity to humanity through music. I'm really glad I subbed. 🤗
Stock Aitkin & Waterman produced that’s why they sound similar, they were known in the UK as the ‘hit factory’ & Rick actually started working in their office as a tea boy when he left school
Rick has an amazing acoustic cover of the Foo Fighter's song "Everlong", which he recorded last year for RUclips. Foo Fighters were a big fan of him, and he of them. They even brought him on stage at one of their concerts to perform one of his songs, which is also on RUclips.
The songs sound a lot alike because they both came off the same album. So they were recorded around the same time. This is favorite of his from this era, along with "It Takes a Strong Man." His album "50," released just a few years ago, has some pretty great tracks on it. Check out "Keep Singing," "Angel on My Side," and "Pray with Me." All three are killer tracks. Also check out "It Takes a Strong Man" from the same album as this one and "Never Gonna Give You Up."
Good choices, Matt. I also loved his latter day stuff especially from the Body & Soul album - the songs Hopelessly and Everytime are fantastic. Also, have an album somewhere called Keep It Turned On that was only available in Germany and I was lucky enough to be in Berlin on holiday that year so bought and loved it.
It's more because the songs are by the same songwriters/producers: Stock/Aitken/Waterman. Almost all of her songs sound similar, because it's some of the cheapest pop music ever made.^^
I loved him when I was younger, still do. His voice is like butter. I remember in the 1980s when I was listening to him and my Granny overheard him. She said “he sounds like a modern day Nat King Cole”. She was shocked to hear he was a white bloke from northern England!
Good old Hit Factory - Stock Aitkin and Waterman produced. Same production style across many artists - often pretty much the same tune just with variations in pitch and speed. Repetitive but hugely successful
All the mums had a crush on Rick when I was little 😉😂 He had a full album! I seem to remember a ballad in the charts Cry for Help a little later in his career.
Rick Astley is great! You should try "Cry For Help". It's way different from the previous ones. But, if you want to dance once more, try "She Wants To Dance With Me". It's a very nice song. Cheers!
Used to always see rick walking down the rd were we both lived (newton le willows) before he hit the big time, he was always polite and said hello, lovely guy. And great music to...😊
I remember this song and I love his voice, its so distinctive. He was very popular here in the UK, the girls loved him and I love the different instruments that make quite an unusual entrance. I think there are some more good songs from Rick only I can't remember them lol. God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
This song was one of my mum’s favourite songs! Every time it came on the radio she was dancing and singing along to it 🤗 sadly she passed 14 years ago, but this song reminds me of her every time I hear it, I love it and I miss her so much, but this makes me smile 😊
If you want to hear Rick differently then listen to ‘cry for help’ you won’t believe that he gave up singing after this till he came back at the age of 50 with a number one album called 50 😁👍🏼💕🇬🇧
The song was written by Stock, Aitkin and Waterman, all their songs sound exactly the same, that is why you think this song is similar to the last Rick Astley song you reacted too lol
I was going to say the same thing. The two hits sound incredibly similar but I prefer "Together Forever". Rick didn't write his songs until the second album.
If you speed this up a bit, on a variable speed record deck , Kylie Minogue stars to sing. It also works if you slow down a Kylie Minogue song, Rick starts to sing.
It Would Take a Strong Strong Man, She Wants to Dance With me (arguably the best of the SA&W era), and definitely Cry for Help (with the adorable long hair!) - definitely want to add those in here!
I used to like this back in 1988. The music does sound similar to "Never gonna give you up" But thats just the sound of that era ☺ Check you out singing along 😁
You mentioned if you had not seen him you would have assumed he was not white. Not first time that has been said in general. LOL. Fact is alot of white singers also have alot of soul and depth to their voice. In Rick Astley's case I just found his voice surprising because he looked like kind of a nerdy kid when he started out then had this huge voice! Love him!
I still don't believe that's his voice coming out of his face. For years, decades, probably...I thought he looked totally different. Not having MTV in the house growing up has made discovering old music videos such an interesting experience. This song, though! My mom and I used to jam to it. So catchy. Another gem from that era.
I’ve always thought he has one of the greatest voices of all time. I hope you’ll check out his song ‘Cry For Help.’ It’s a very different song for him.
You are correct it was a jammer along with Never Gonna Give You Up. They were a pair of billboard number ones in the US. This is my favorite song from him. He has chops that’s for sure. Take me back to undergrad
I saw Rick Astley in concert,in Philly, and Martika (Check her out) was the opener. I wasn't much into them before but the show was really fun. I knew more songs than I thought from both performers. This was back in the 90's.
Whenever You Need Somebody was his 2nd single after Never Gonna Give You Up. Then it was When I Fall in Love 3rd and Together Forever came out after that 4th.
Actually this was his THIRD single! The missing link between "Never Gonna Give You Up" (08/87) and this one (03/88) is "Whenever You Need Somebody" (10/87) 😉
This is Rick in his early career with Stock Aitken and Waterman all their songs for whichever artist sounded very similar ,check out Kylie Monogues early songs with them all very similar sound . He was massive back then but couldn't handle all the adolation and media paparazi pressure and walked away from it all to become a family man . Didn't sing a note for around 20 years but came back a few years ago to do things HIS way .Rick still has that great voice but hes learnt to handle the media better , great guy great singer .
In the 80's that beat was kind of common...everything upbeat lol He is still making music! He came out with new album 5 yrs ago & followed up with more!
Nice! Another favorite. His 1st 2 albums have a lot of good songs that I enjoy. You should do Cry For Help, from his 3rd album I believe. That is a soulful song.
From 1985-1990 the was a producer Trio : Stock Aitken Waterman! They where behind a massive amounts of hits! Allways the same beat as you mentioned about Rick Astleys 'Together Forever' & 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. They had artist as Kylie Minogue, Jason Donavan, Divine, Hazell Dean, Dead or Alive, Bananarama, Mel & Kim and ABC and many more. They also external producing for Diana Ross, Michael Jackson/Jackson 5, Holly Johnson, Pet Shop Boys, Eighth Wonder, Four Tops, Chic, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Jesus Jones, Voice of the Beehive, Gary Moore. Everyone wanted help for the 3 guys cause everything they touched was a guaranteed hit! Stock Aitken Waterman made more than 100 UK top 40 hits, selling 40 million records and earning an estimated £60 million (about $104 million).....
Lucky you😊👍🏼 Just had to give back my tickets for Brighton as traveling is still a bit of a problem coming from Germany 😭 Will come over next year for sure💪🏼🤩

And a really good cover song he performed when he got older, called "Vincent". He covered it beautifully. Official video is great. Thank you for reacting to Rick Astley. 👍👍👍👍👍

You need to listen to "Cry for Help". Beautiful ballad of his.
Yes! Just came to say this. Beautiful song with a choir backing. Different feel from this one.
I second, third, and fourth that!!!

@@MizzInterpreted Exactly! I love the song!
Yes, Cry for Help to hear a different, slower side to Rick Astley.
Classic 80's and his voice is one of the best ever
I know your generation likes to use Rick as a joke, but the man has some serious pipes.
Let's not pretend that the rickroll wasn't invented by adults in the mid-2000s.
I have never seen anyone use him as a joke.
@@saraheart2804 Rickroll is a joke.
Yep
It's been so long since rickrolled was invented, it's not a joke anymore, it's love
Checkout the Graham Norton show were Rick tells the story of how he found out what Rick rolling is.

Hearing Foo Fighters sing a Rick Astley song was pretty amazing! Great moment - wish I'd been there.
That was amazing 👏 I heard it recently and he nailed it 👌
His voice is just as rich and smooth today as it was back then too. So glad you like him!!
Check out his other song called Whenever You Need Somebody, She wants to dance, these are great ones from Rick too.❤️👌🎵
And “cry for help”
@@leslapins7617 Oh yes, forgot that one, thx.👍
No joke that song is a jam too!!
Great choices 😉

Rick's still going strong, and sounding great live

They used a formula for writing hits. It worked, but only for a short while for each artist :(
@@miaschu8175 what formula did they used?
Sounds similar because its the (SAW) Stock Aitken Waterman sound. They churned out multiple hits in the 80s.
I loved him when I was younger, still do. His voice is like butter.

Yes, many women were just as shocked as today when the video first came out and saw him for the first time, they couldn't believe it 😁
My Favourite song is Cry for Help, a lovely heartfelt ballad
Another great 80's song is Don't Disturb This Groove by The System. One of my favorites.
OMG I have been wanting to see him react to Don't Disturb This Groove" also. I LOVE that song!!!!
Rick Astley is great!

Rick Astley is so pure I love his music
In my playlist Tiffany- I think we're alone now would be the next song.
I like her cover better than the original.
I’m going to see Rick tomorrow, he’s doing a gig just covering songs by The Smiths!!!
Enjoy! Very Jealous.. I love the smiths and Rick is a great singer. Coincidentally I'm seeing the Smyths tomorrow night, a great tribute band.
I've always Loved Rick's voice, very rich. ❤️👌
You must react to " Cry for help " it's a totally different side to him, it's a gospel inspired track one of my favourites of his ❤️
Rick Astley should remake these in old school R&B style, re-release them and go on tour :D
I remember this song and I love his voice, its so distinctive. He was very popular here in the UK, the girls loved him and I love the different instruments that make quite an unusual entrance. That sound is from the producers Stock, Aikin and Waterman, they ruled the British charts back in the day.
Nice! Another favorite. His 1st 2 albums have a lot of good songs that I enjoy.
You should do Cry For Help, from his 3rd album I believe. That is a soulful song.
Can you believe back then he was 19 or 20 and he had a voice that could be an easy fit with artists like Luthor Van Dross or Alexander O'Neil?
This song is in a commercial recently. People often forget this one.
Check out Rick guesting with the Foo Fighters.
I like his voice.
The soft rock radio stations still play this. It's that good. :)
You should check out his song Cry For Help, was his breakway song from this sort of rubbish pop :) great reaction as always dude.
Check out Rick Astley's beautiful ballad "Cry for Help."
It was just announced, Rick is going on tour with New Kids on the Block, En Vogue and Salt N Papa!
this was our middle school's 8th grade dance theme song. It was our last year in middle school and on our way to HS!! :D
I love his voice, so deep and rich! This is catchy also.
This whole album is amazing. It was the first CD I purchased back in the day.
