Yeah! Harold Budd is one of the best ambient composer. His style can be recognised easily. His music smoothly touches and caresses my soul. By the way. Why can't anybody regard his music to guru of sound? Maybe he thinks that when he is listening to it, so why this rudeness necessary? Brian Eno, and the predecessors were awesome right. But H.B. surpass them all for example. And in my rading Blue Xrysalis : Transcendental, or Andrew Forrest - Heavenly host.....are truly gifts from God..try it!
This music uses the balinese scale of tones... Listen to the traditional music from Bali Island, and you will recognize the same (exactly the same) succession of tones. Of course, between the traditional music and the electronic ambient, there's a difference, but the balinese scale is so special that we cannot disregard it.
What a strange argument: that we shouldn't praise a particular artist because their work isn't sui generis, because they built on the work of others? In this case, it's also wrong - Harold Budd was well established in the avant garde before Eno came to prominence. And really, his major influences were Coltrane, Shankar - he took their free-wheeling lyricism and distilled it. Perhaps you should do a little dipping yourself?
"Guru of Sound".... For fuck's sake, stop your addiction to heroes and appreciate the work of the artists in silence or at least express your enjoyment with smart compliments
I love this so much🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Spiritual lifting.......from The White Arcades. Wonderful.

What's odd is that Budd claims it's based on the slendro scale, when its pretty obviously based on pelog.
Eno did some engineering on this album .. me thinks he did the synths in the background
Saw some liner notes saying Eno worked on this track and 'Totems'
thx
something is off- the timing is slow ...did you do that so it wouldnt get recognized ? Anyway love the song thanks for posting!
I could hear M. Gira from the "Swans" doing a version of this......
