    Really liked the way you lined the pouch, hadn't seen that before, so I made one for my son and one for my DIL and they're great. I might make a few for my market table, see how they go. My engineer son thought it was a pencil holder :) my daughter in law got it right away, thought it was very clever- not sure she cared for the fabric I picked though- that part is hard sometimes. I made her a coffe cosy too, I think she liked that. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. Thank you for a very good tutorial.

    • @TheCraftsChannel

      Hi Audrey, don't have one to hand to measure but I'm sure the closure tab piece is 4cm by 6.5cm (1.5" x 2.5") and the long strips are 6.5cm by 46cm (2.5" x 18") as they were cut from a FQ. The method will work with whatever dimensions suit you best, c x

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  5 лет назад +2

      I've tried to do this as simply as possible while still hiding all the raw edges. You can make it by sewing the two long rectangles together nearly all the way round, turning it the right side out and then folding the bottom up and sewing the sides to make the pouch but you might get bulky seams. C x

  • @gurjeetkaur8189
    @gurjeetkaur8189 5 лет назад +1

    Why can't we stitch the lining with the outer cloth at the same time. I mean what the purpose of making two separate flaps and then inserting one another into each other ?

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  5 лет назад +1

      Sewing the separate flaps means there are no raw edges so less chance of frayed seams. You can sew it differently but it won't be as neat, c x

  • @miscmichele

    I made this and afterwards realized there is a much easier way to make this. Wouldn’t it be easier to put all pieces right sides together, leaving a hole to pull through inside out, sewing all the way around? This would also ensure the lining is a better fit.

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  6 лет назад

      Hi Michele, I can't picture how you mean sorry. Have you made one your way? c x

    • @thelasherypdx6895
      @thelasherypdx6895 5 лет назад

      I watched the whole video so many times wondering why it was complicated. Because I too would do it the way you mentioned Michelle. Sounds much easier. Right sides facing in leave a small hole, flip out fold in had then stitch partial way up, and done.

    • @Wolfmaedchen
      @Wolfmaedchen 5 лет назад

      TheLasheryPdx this is the way I made my phone case. The downside of this technique is, that you’ll see the top stitching on either side of the pouch and it normally doesn’t look very neat. This method is more complicated but neater. If you want a quick functional method, yours would work as well

    • @shaykay4066
      @shaykay4066 3 года назад

      Both ways work. I think it just all comes down to which finished look you prefer. I was also waiting for the pull through hole to be sewn shut but that wasn’t done for this project.

    • @TheCraftsChannel
      @TheCraftsChannel  4 года назад +1

      Ah, yes, didn't think of that. The cutlery I used was a mini travelling set! I reckon if your fabric is twice the height of your cutlery plus 9cm/3.5" that should give you enough of an overlap even with seam allowances taken off. You might want to make it a little wider too as the spoon bowls will be bigger, c x

      @@jorendom6446 I'm afraid I'm just the demonstrator, I don't own the channel. We occasionally demonstrate products for a fee to help towards our running costs. If you put a link to your product on here I can put the ad team in touch with you? c x
