A lot of it, but I still don't understand how points work on a contract like the ones he's discussing. Does a point equal a percentage of what the film makes?
This is why I could never be an independent film maker, I could never hustle people for money, I just don't have it in me. I would feel super awkward, like a sleazy used car salesman. I could write a movie or show, I could direct, I could animate, I could do just about anything, except for hustling for money off people.
You’re not being sleazy if you’re providing them value. It’s an investment, while it is risky, it’s still an opportunity. Sounds like you don’t believe in a project or yourself enough to as for money. If that’s true, you can always self fund projects
You def have to look at it as an investment and if you believe in your project enough and that project is an extension of you then you should go to the moon and back to get ANY amount needed to complete your film as necessary. Don't put the money on a pedestal, there was a time in my life where I literally cried and thought to myself $500 would completely change my entire life, if I could just find $500. Now $500 is easy money to acquire, so to some of these rich people if you need let's say 20k for a project it may sound like a lot to you but for some people 20k is a night out on the town.

I like the straightforwardness he used to respond to some of questions. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
What do you like about this video?
The holding companies and llc portions are totally new for me. Things I have not considered when thinking about aiming to make a film.
Everything.

Every sentence.

Well that and you don’t have any talent. I know your mom and public school teacher told you how awesome you are and you could do anything

If you don’t think these companies thought all those tactics were hyper-profitable pandering to begin with, which planet have YOU been on lmao
