As a former lifelong atheist for a long time I felt embarrassed to admit that what converted me wasn't first the recognition of God, but rather, the realization that demons were real. Once I knew evil was real then I knew God was real and belief that he sent us a Savior in the form of Jesus Christ was not far behind. It seemed shameful to recognize the devil before recognizing God. But ever since I recently heard comedian and culture critic J P Sears say he had the same experience I'm wondering if that is more common than I thought? Because, we have Authority over our souls (free will) and we CAN expel them from ourselves by making frequent use of the Sacrament of Confession. I was a YFC in my teenage years and so many of them were demon possessed in youth camps. Do you know why? Because they are false Christians. A true Christian is already owned and sealed by the Holy Spirit and no demon can possess that person ever! But a person who is not Christian has no Holy Spirit, and can be possessed by a demon.
So I’m a bit young to really remember seeing JPII in person, but I remember when Benedict made one of his visits and my youth group went. I also remember when his resignation was forced (and I do believe it was essentially forced) and feeling like something was deeply wrong with what was happening. Then lightning struck the Vatican. My mum loved JP II and he was a great pope. But I have a certain fondness for the embattled papacy of Benedict. It felt like political forces had aligned against him once they realized he wasn’t going to pass in short order despite his age. He resigned a decade ago for “health decline.” He passed almost exactly a year ago, so I simply cannot believe that was the true reason. First pope to resign in 600 years, since the schism in 1415. He brought back the Latin mass, and ardently opposed moral relativism, which I agree with him is the root of SO many modern problems.

This happened to me as well, in both directions... As a teen I figured most people are born essentially good, and that an all loving God would never sentence people to eternal damn nation, so the Devil must not be real... which led me to believe God must not be real either. 20 years of atheistic confusion/anxiety/existential angst ensued. The events of the past few years have made it abundantly clear evil is real, for anyone who is remotely paying attention spiritually.

Fr. Lampert is my absolute favorite Priest/Exorcist. He is so humble and straightforward; no guile in him at all. I love how he tells of his encounters as an exorcist, and how he understands and explains the teachings and wisdom of the Church. I love that Father Lampert always reminds us that we should not fear the devil; but rather fix our eyes on Jesus. That the real person doing the work at an exorcism is Jesus, and that we should focus not on the "theatrics and antics of the devil, but on the presence and power of God". Father Lampert is fearless...and funny as well. A very solid and well rounded person...most faithful and obedient. As are the other Priests you feature of course.

I was baptised into the C of E, confirmed, and a Christian for many years. But I am now a skeptic and humanist, and I have never been happier. There are so many contradictions in the bible, so many beliefs that are completely illogical, that I live my life trying to be a good person simply because that's the right thing to do. No promise of Heaven, no fear of sin. Works for me.

I grew up in the church. But, I turned my back on God for all the hurt and rejection I endured. I was wrong to blame God. I opened the door to demonic influence by dabbling with the occult…but God in His great mercy answered my mother’s prayers… He gave me a way out. It only happened through the name and power of Jesus. God is real and so is satan. Only God is full of love and mercy, the devil offers nothing good.

This was a wonderful video. It has helped me to understand so much I was'nt clear about confessing sins and why we need to do so. Why in these times communion doesnt help children to fully embrace the confessional and mass. The Devil is out there confusing our children and leading them down the wrong path. Or the parents are being confused since they are the ones to help those doubts when the arise.
We are like children caught between divorced parents… one who wants to moderate our behavior in order to make us functioning and happy but can adjust to struggle, while the other parent appeases us with easy and fun, dangling treats in front of us, yet they know what this will do to us (misery) and they resent that you were born. I thank you for this post!! I've had many dreams of a spiritual & religious nature....just one of them I met the devil. I was standing in an area that was dark with large rocks around me, a dark sky, dirt like powder, as I looked up from the ground in the beginning of this dream I looked straight ahead of me....& there I saw him, the devil! He was so hidious! He stood beneath an archway of a tunnel with vertical bars, he was behind the bars staring at me in anger & said, "I get out in a 1000 years," gripping tightly to the gate...my eyes looked down at his feet & they were like talons of a huge bird, his skin was grayish black & body somewhat thin with wings like a bat & ears pointed with a round head.....so angry at me with hatefulness!! The dream ended.....so ya, I believe we must be vigilante with all evil! Even in our dreams!! In another dream, the Lord battled a winged being in a chapel in a VA hospital....I saw the shadows through the stained glass of a huge fight! Then the Lord Jesus walked up to me with blood on him, hair tussled & white robe that had fell to his waste from the fight, and I looked up at him, as I had been sitting on the floor leaning against a wall outside of an office.....then I knew......Jesus had fought a great battle in defense for me & was letting me know it was going to be o.k.! 🥰🫠🤧💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💥💫💥💫💥💫💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 Keep your faith! My Uncle who is a priest from the Philippines, celebrated mass here in the US, during consecration, one white old lady manifested. She was shouting and cursing the photo of Pope John Paul ll. I remember when I was 15 I watched the exorcism of Emily rose, I’ve never watched any exorcism movies and I was scared. That next morning I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time in my life at 3am and I didn’t know what it was. I felt like it happened on and off everyday day or every other day for about a week at about 3am, and thought I was being attacked . I was scared to sleep. I prayed very hard and my fear eventually turned into anger and conviction. It finally stopped, I attribute that to the power of prayer and remembering that the power of god is much greater than the power of the devil. I later learned about sleep paralysis, it’s funny because once I learned about it and understood it, I didn’t fear it and it quit happening, haven’t had it in years now.

If you don't believe the devil is real, then by default, you are denying that sin is real and in doing so, reject the very purpose of Christ and His essence. You can not deny the existence of the devil and believe in God. Jesus said himself, "I came to DESTROY the works of the devil".
If there isn't a devil then Jesus had no reason to come down from heaven and and die on the cross for our sins. I remind non Catholics that there's only need for one baptism to erase original sin caused by Adam and Eve. Unless they're converting to Catholicism.

As a former lifelong atheist for a long time I felt embarrassed to admit that what converted me wasn't first the recognition of God, but rather, the realization that demons were real. Once I knew evil was real then I knew God was real and belief that he sent us a Savior in the form of Jesus Christ was not far behind. It seemed shameful to recognize the devil before recognizing God. But ever since I recently heard comedian and culture critic J P Sears say he had the same experience I'm wondering if that is more common than I thought? How many converts first see demons as proof of God's existence? Is all the unchecked wickedness of the last few years driving unbelievers into His arms? I'd love to hear a priest talk about this!

All exorcists tell us the same: a good, honest Confession is more powerful than an exorcism. Why? Because, we have Authority over our souls (free will) and we CAN expel them from ourselves by making frequent use of the Sacrament of Confession. The Holy Scriptures tell us that sin must be expelled by the mouth, or something like that. Our sins are what keep the demons bound to us, including a lack of the supernatural Virtue of Humility (not mere human "virtues") given us *only* by the Grace of God.

I was a YFC in my teenage years and so many of them were demon possessed in youth camps.

So I’m a bit young to really remember seeing JPII in person, but I remember when Benedict made one of his visits and my youth group went. This happened to me as well, in both directions... As a teen I figured most people are born essentially good, and that an all loving God would never sentence people to eternal damn nation, so the Devil must not be real... which led me to believe God must not be real either. 20 years of atheistic confusion/anxiety/existential angst ensued. The events of the past few years have made it abundantly clear evil is real, for anyone who is remotely paying attention spiritually.

I was baptised into the C of E, confirmed, and a Christian for many years. But I am now a skeptic and humanist, and I have never been happier. There are so many contradictions in the bible, so many beliefs that are completely illogical, that I live my life trying to be a good person simply because that's the right thing to do. No promise of Heaven, no fear of sin. Works for me.

I grew up in the church. But, I turned my back on God for all the hurt and rejection I endured. I was wrong to blame God.
I opened the door to demonic influence by dabbling with the occult…but God in His great mercy answered my mother’s prayers…
He gave me a way out. It only happened through the name and power of Jesus.
God is real and so is satan. Only God is full of love and mercy, the devil offers nothing good.

This was a wonderful video. It has helped me to understand so much I was'nt clear about confessing sins and why we need to do so. Why in these times communion doesnt help children to fully embrace the confessional and mass. The Devil is out there confusing our children and leading them down the wrong path. We are like children caught between divorced parents… one who wants to moderate our behavior in order to make us functioning and happy but can adjust to struggle, while the other parent appeases us with easy and fun, dangling treats in front of us, yet they know what this will do to us (misery) and they resent that you were born.

I thank you for this post!! I've had many dreams of a spiritual & religious nature....just one of them I met the devil. I was standing in an area that was dark with large rocks around me, a dark sky, dirt like powder, as I looked up from the ground in the beginning of this dream I looked straight ahead of me....& there I saw him, the devil! He was so hidious! He stood beneath an archway of a tunnel with vertical bars, he was behind the bars staring at me in anger & said, "I get out in a 1000 years," gripping tightly to the gate...my eyes looked down at his feet & they were like talons of a huge bird, his skin was grayish black & body somewhat thin with wings like a bat & ears pointed with a round head.....so angry at me with hatefulness!!
The dream ended.....so ya, I believe we must be vigilante with all evil!
Even in our dreams!! In another dream, the Lord battled a winged being in a chapel in a VA hospital....I saw the shadows through the stained glass of a huge fight! We do not know enough about demons/ fallen angels to assess if they are sentient in the way that humans are, as they don't have bodies and limbic systems and
nerve endings of course, so communication with demon isn't really 2 way communication, it will to be unilaterally opaque, for the human only, in addition to the fact the demon will be counterfeiting human emotions and sensations and drives.

My Uncle exorcise her, and He laid down infront of the Host, facing the floor, arms wide open ( like what priests do during their ordination) after few seconds she was liberated. I remember when I was 15 I watched the exorcism of Emily rose, I’ve never watched any exorcism movies and I was scared. That next morning I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time in my life at 3am and I didn’t know what it was. I felt like it happened on and off everyday day or every other day for about a week at about 3am, and thought I was being attacked . I was scared to sleep. I prayed very hard and my fear eventually turned into anger and conviction. It finally stopped, I attribute that to the power of prayer and remembering that the power of god is much greater than the power of the devil. I later learned about sleep paralysis, it’s funny because once I learned about it and understood it, I didn’t fear it and it quit happening, haven’t had it in years now.

If you don't believe the devil is real, then by default, you are denying that sin is real and in doing so, reject the very purpose of Christ and His essence. You can not deny the existence of the devil and believe in God. Jesus said himself, "I came to DESTROY the works of the devil".
