Lol I didn't laugh or find it funny when I watched it initially but seeing it now with the filter of Jon being a Michael Scott style character is hilarious. That episode's big moment's gotta be something with Jon somehow punching or fighting one of the children. Maybe he'd segue the anti-bullying speech into a "let's fight bullying". Then getting himself all hyped up, he asks the kids if there are any bullies in their school, several kids point out some skull t-shirt little fat kid as bullying them. Somehow it escalates to Jon, with his shirt off, squaring off and fighting the kid. Maybe the local news walks in to film a feel good story about the speech and, to their shock, finds Jon in that situation.

+pik n mix I'm not sure the UFC would decide to write a script for Jon Jones involving him sort of throwing them under the bus, talking about potential legal action, and sort of encouraging the formation of a type of Fighter's Union to force the UFC to pay fighters more and treat fighters better.
Dude's a father and a husband and had friends that encourage him to party like that? Overnight? The fuck is wrong with the people he surrounded himself with?
+Eds S He's a grown man. At the end of the day it was his own decisions that let him down that path. It's not that hard not to give in to peer pressure if you actually try.
Shapeshifter The things that have gotten him into trouble have had nothing to do with peer pressure. Cocaine, weed, alleged infidelity, etc have not been the reasons why he has gotten into trouble. He's been in trouble due to a DUI (almost everyone drinks) and the incident earlier this year. Both were not due to peer pressure. On the other hand, I can totally see someone being more prone to taking drugs if they're being thrown them all of the time, which, if you're at a party and everyone is trying to impress you or get your attention, is going to happen. This whole "If you have your mind set on not doing them" logic is weak. For example, I don't have my mind set on having a glass of coke in the morning and might even set my mind not to, but if every morning someone puts it in my hand, every now and then I'll think, "fuck it, it won't kill me", and take a swig.
TONYLOUIS105, BOXING, FITNESS, HEALTH, DIET & MEDITATION Actions speak louder than words, we'll find out with time. My guess now is that he really isn't changed because people who really do change go to meetings even after they dont need them because they dont want to fk up again. Jones is clearly a different breed though, he might not need that like most people do (I only know because I've been through it myself, crashed into someone drunk last year thankfull they're ok.) Talk is talk, just like in pre-fights it means nothing, it's all about the preperation. But just like a fight you wouldn't expect to win without the training. He doesn't mention anything to the fact that he's still training his mind in being sober and a better person, he's just somehow already in that mindset. And again, he might not need "training". All I'm saying is that his actions to ME personally, dont say he's going to turn everything around (just be more careful about it) and until he fks up again, I'll be rooting for him, supporting him and on his side. If I was a betting man I would bet against him but I have faith.
so why you watching this if you don't watch people beat up people for a living, it's called mma dummie sure you've watched it once or twice so do actually appreciate the occupation
Great interview. Jon seemed very open, honest and genuine and Ariel did a great job with his questions and keeping the flow as well as keeping Jon relaxed and open.
+Kachii “Moo Moo” Moo just leaving a comment to thank you on teaching me the meaning of "prognostication" , more educated people should utilise their vocabulary on the internet to help those (like me) that didn't get a decent education!
+blank you could tell he was being honest for the past 20 min in that interview and then suddenly the body language was a total giveaway that he was a cokehead.
MotherTouching-Ninjas Dude I am a big Jon Jones fan. Not hating on him just stating facts. Throughout the interview they discuss how good he would be if he gave up on alcohol and weed. Coke is illegal so he is hiding that part.
I love how cocky he is saying how he partied through the Gustafson training camp and he still couldn't beat him. there are so many people that think he lost that fight, it's so split. I honestly think he lost. Gustafson was working more, landing more, and took him down a couple times
Agreed I also don't believe he was that out of shape. He has been and always will make excuses for that fight. He was dodging that rematch like the plague.
+Anthony Bagrier I'm Swedish and I don't think Gustafson won that fight, it was close but a fair decision. Jones just has so many haters that wanted nothing more then to see him lose, so they felt robbed for that reason.
Coming from someone who has also hit rock bottom, I respect this man immensely. He's got the right mentality now. Failure is beautiful, its all about learning from you're mistakes and I feel he's done so. Haters gonna hate but you can't dispute what a true champion he is. He's focused and ready to rise from the ashes and reclaim victory. RESPECT.
+Scott Rooney (loyal King Conor Devotee) yep second,,EVERYONE that knows true MMA and fighting there is not even a doubt who is no1...its easy you walk into a bar ask a random guy who is the best fighter on the planet obviously they will say CONOR THE GOAT! there is only one conor mcgregor! he fight's different ....he thinks different..he talk's different he is the king NO1 P4P......................THE KING CONOR!
+Thomas Stone The father of MMA & Jeet Kun Do, which is a formless...freestyle art. If anyone has all Bruce Lee's movies, they'll see he was doing arm-bars and rear-naked chokes like nobody's business. He was ahead of his time.
+Morre Bella lmao....jones cant finish a fight to save his life after Gus ruined him. people think mighty mouse is the most boring champ? then they havnt seen a jones fight lol.
Josiah D 21 wins (Jon Jones) By knockout 9 By submission 6 By decision 6 Also Im from Sweden but that doesnt change the fact that Jon Jones will give DC a worse beating this time when his head is straight.
Morre Bella ah yes, the good ol' days before gus beat him down. look at his fight results after the gus fight......nothing but dec. (EXTREMELY boring decisions to)
Awesome interview. Really inspiring for me. I've been an addict for a long time now and seeing a champ fight the same remorse i have to fight each day like a champion is inspiring. I hope i get just a tenth of the strength he has. Great job Ariel!
“When you found out that there was a pregnant lady who was injured, what was your reaction to that” - “i was scared, i was just thinking about my freedom being taken away, i was just thinking about my kids, it was hard for me” Me me me me me No remorse whatsoever. I came here and watched this to find my Champion redeem himself. But its plain to see here - the compassion is masquerade, he does not care who gets hurt or what he takes from whom, as long as he has everything he thinks he has the right to. Never been more disappointed in a stranger than in Jon - i didnt know if the baby was ok, it was hard for me - jones
@@jamesj9693 i mean.. At the time I said this (3 weeks ago) there was literally no reason to believe he was a domestic abuser. I stand by my comment and dont understand why he said this 2 years ago
I love the fact that he admits everything, aside of being a huge fan of him, the whole scandal and the media just couldn't do anything to this guy and I strongly believe that he is coming back, and when he does, he will shut up all of those big media mouths! I admire how can someone take a huge fall and come back in such a style. Respect to Jon Jones and looking forward to see you fight again and entertain people across the world ! Cheers
Fantastic interview, surprised at just how open he was with his answers, clearly he's learned a lot and is in a much better place now mentally; excited to see how much better he comes back now that he's putting in the intense work in and cut out the alcohol, drugs and partying. Great as always Ariel, this was without a doubt one of your best if not the best.
Great interview. I love Jon and I was severely disappointed in his actions on the day of his car accident, but it's in the past and I truly hope that he has learned from the experience. I look forward to seeing him back in the Octagon and hopefully regaining his title. He's the greatest fighter that I've ever seen and I hope that he bounces back from this and becomes not only as a better athlete, but a better man. Welcome back, Jon! Love ya, buddy.
***** Name who he didn't fight. He fought them all. Oscar, Mosley, Zab, Canelo, Cotto, and topped it off with Manny. Yeah he fought Berto for his last fight, but thats common. He no longer had ambition to be the champion, he only wanted to tie Marciano's record. Berto isn't a bum either, but not on his level.
I just watched this again: 1) The editing, in the beginning when he's talking to the kids, makes him seem like he's skirting the issue. It'd be nice to see how he really laid all the bad stuff out in front them. 2) His reconstruction of the night prior to the accident seems stunted and rehearsed (he stops dead in his tracks when getting into it). 3) He's the most like-able/ernest/honest version of Jon Jones i've seen since he's won the title. 4) I still don't fully believe he's 100% humbled and/or sober and I REALLY hope he proves me wrong.
Please don't tell me anyone is falling for this fake "I'm a changed man' scripted BS! It hasn't even been a year and he's talking like a guy coming out of a 5 year retirement. But of course people are gonna eat it up.... brilliant Ariel just brilliant...

Jon Jones is actually a more decent and intelligent person than I realized. Some of the questions Ariel asked were totally useless and stupid also. Jon Jones wasn't telling the kids not to be like him as far as his success, he was telling them not to be like him as far as making a decision that can squander all your hard work (which Jones has made a few), as you get used to how good things are you stop appreciating them and may make a bad decision and then only afterwards realize how much you squandered in retrospect.
First of all, I'm no the biggest Jon Jones fan but fuck Dana White and the UFC for not telling him about Vitor Roid Belfort before the fight. And honestly I don't blame him one bit for not fighting on 8 days notice either....especially how they supposedly knew Hendo was hurt weeks earlier but to give Chael the best chance possible. I'm kinda glad it blew up in their faces and they had to cancel the event. Dana HAS held a grudge against him since then.
Great guy ! he is calm and shows really what a great champion is. People are happy he is in trouble now but they won't never reach his level. And I hope he comes back even stronger. He has plenty options in front of him. Jon enjoy the time with those who love you.
i'm 25 mins in and not once has said he was worried about the woman in the accident smh..I got in a accident about a year ago i was sitting in a turning lane and a girl was pulling out of a drive way into the turning lane and nailed me. My first thought after I knew i wasn't hurt was to check on her smh...All he keeps talking about in his self
+ted myrick I agree I can NOT defend that but most athletes of his magnitude are so self absorbed that, that is part of how they became one of the greatest. Everything is all about them and competing. Sucks man wish he cared at all
I was never a fan of Jon Jones.... but after watching this interview of him I have seen who he truly is. You have gained a new fan my friend and I look forward to your return!
Everyone loves a good comeback story, even more a Fall from grace and back up again story. People can relate to it. I hope he wins, whether he's a changed man or not will show after he does.
Another great interview from Ariel. I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds as if the fire that burned so hot in Jon Jones has been reduced to embers. He seems too calm and satisfied with his life.....maybe lost that aggressive edge.
Bass Line I not only know martial arts, I know treble and _bass_ clefs too; not to mention music theory and harmony, probably better than you. Btw....you need to return that defective crystal ball and get your money back.
I just gained alot of respect for Jon. I think in order to move forward he had to take accountability for his actions. Not for us but for himself. I think he's done it. Great job Jon. Welcome back. I know you will be greater than before. I can't wait. DC is in danger. The worst thing for him to see across the cage is a focused JBJ. That's a scary dude. Just watching him during this interview I could see his focus.
not really. lying isnt taking account. ie the 1 off aspect to his coke taking is a blatent lie, and he only seems sorry about being caught, and how things effect him, rather than them 'victims'.
Jon Jones is a great fighter but seriously he needs to move on from 205. He is always fighting guys over 10cm shorter than him (lets not talk about the reach advantage). On fight day he weighs way more than his opponents, so in reality this "skinny bones guy" is actually a big guy fighting small men. If he wants to be the GOAT he needs to move to 225 bracket.
I'm putting this in my Inspiration "Favorites" playlist. Awesome job Ariel on being an excellent interviewer. I'm very much a believer that these words sound like change. I recently had a devastating DUI in 2014 St Patrick's day. I have since that day quit drinking and smoking to better myself, and not endanger my future. Jon is going through what I experienced, and as well quickly recovering from bad habits. Although I am an advocate for responsible drinking and marijuana usage (decriminalization etc), I choose to put it all down. For some personalities are prone to abusing recreational substances. We know what is going to happen when Jon returns to the octagon in 2016. Finally, I am advocating whole heartedly, that Jones has changed for the better. Eating and Living healthy was much simpler than I thought. I have no doubt our accidents had a huge influence on starting a new life. The troublesome friends/habits are the first things to go, then you're still able to go anywhere and have fun without the weight of the law on your back.
Here's a quick breakdown of the first 5 1/2 min of this video. @0:24 JBJ has his arms akimbo as he says his name - that's the Superman stance. He's basically telling the kids, look, you're all in the presence of greatness. 0:29 to 0:36 - JBJ goes into detail when he tells the crowd his name. He says his name twice. He says his full name Jonathan, then he says, JBJ. When someone doesn't normally go by their full name and they give their full name, they are creating distance. JBJ was distancing himself from the group. And he is also making sure that they know who he by punctuating it with, "I'm a certified badass" and "I beat people up for a living and I love it". - Two things are going on here. One, he is offended that not that many raised their hand when asked, how many of you know who I am?" - two, He is trying to establish his dominance (over a group of kids). @1:07 the camera pans back to JBJ as he's talking about goals. @1:11 he mentions, "studying as best as I can" and says it with a sneer on his face. People only sneer when they don't like someone or something or they've smelled something bad. Sneering is a sign of disdain. From 1:12 to 2:48 JBJ references his fighting skills again. This time classifying them as "awesome"(2:48). @2:34 JBJ brings up Daniel Cormier's name and does a side glance, then sneers, and does a head tilt, as if to say, that guy bugs me. He is beneath me - no secret about this. @2:45 JBJ uses genital framing. He hooks his thumbs into his waistband and let's his hands hang framing his genitals - this is a display of dominance. He's basically saying, look, I'm better than you kids. @2:48 JBJ is talking about disliking bullies, but he brings his hand up with his fingers pointed to himself and references his "awesome" fighting skills - he's basically telling the kids that he is a bully and will beat them up. - fingers still pointing to himself. @3:11 as JBJ says, please don't pull a JBJ, he arches his eyebrows - the arching of the eyebrows are associated with pleasure. He doesn't seem to have too much regret with what he did. Could be a bit of duping delight associated with that statement, I could be wrong. Not too sure about this one. @4:49 when the segment is closing out and everyone is saying, No more bullies, JBJ is the only one pointing his fingers - finger pointing is universally recognized as rude behavior. He does a double finger point. This could mean he was irritated at being there. @5:36 JBJ says to Ariel Helwani, "I've learned so much" as he shakes his head "no" to the statement he just made. That's all the time I had for this. I'll finish this breakdown at a later date.
Lol for all the people calling him fake, what do you want from him? "Fuck these kids, I could give two shits about them!" Is that what you want? Would that make you feel better? You want him to abandon all his morals, go "full Mayweather to earn those fans" instead of TRYING to be a better person, just so you can have your daily serving of controversy? C'mon. I know fake people whom were actually sadistic, manipulative, and psychotic. This ain't it. He ain't a Bond Villain, chill people.
+John Wilson HOW. He last fought a year ago, beating the current "champion", and yet somehow he is ranked fourth? Those rankings make no sense. LITERALLY, he defended his title more recently than Aldo did, so that argument means literally nothing.
Whats wrong with saying he is a "marihuana addict"? Arent you addicted to something from the moment you NEED it and feel like you cant live with it? Why addiction has to be only about hard drugs? Someone please explain me.
no an addiction has physical withdrawal symptoms, severe ones. habits (like weed) do not, they have mental withdrawal symptoms. some drugs are addictive and habitual, like cigarettes. both addiction and habits release endorphins into brain and are similar in effect, but arent the same thing, many habits have no consumption element at all, and are much harder to quit than addictive substances, for eg ocd. so they are related, overlap and have similar effects, but the brain process is very different in regards to process and quitting.
+MAKEUPOVERBROS Was reading a paper about the affect of cannabanoid antagonists (basically reverses the effects of marijuana on the receptors applicable) and it shows that there are weed withdrawal (pretty horrible ones, akin to heroin) symptoms but due to the chemicals in cannabis being fat soluble they sit in your fat cells and release slowly averting these affects. Pretty awesome natural anti physical withdrawal mechanism.
+rahowhero i feel as if you can get addicted to marijuana in a mental sense and not being able to go a day without using, i know too many people like that
"Raise your hand if you hate bullies"
*Daniel Cormier raises hand*

He's been in trouble due to a DUI (almost everyone drinks) and the incident earlier this year. Both were not due to peer pressure.

This whole "If you have your mind set on not doing them" logic is weak. For example, I don't have my mind set on having a glass of coke in the morning and might even set my mind not to, but if every morning someone puts it in my hand, every now and then I'll think, "fuck it, it won't kill me", and take a swig.
It was his fault, not theirs.
True but someone such as him (high profile athletes) really, REALLY needs to surround themselves with the right people and not yes men.

TONYLOUIS105, BOXING, FITNESS, HEALTH, DIET & MEDITATION Actions speak louder than words, we'll find out with time. My guess now is that he really isn't changed because people who really do change go to meetings even after they dont need them because they dont want to fk up again.
Jones is clearly a different breed though, he might not need that like most people do (I only know because I've been through it myself, crashed into someone drunk last year thankfull they're ok.)
Talk is talk, just like in pre-fights it means nothing, it's all about the preperation.

LMAO
+blank you could tell he was being honest for the past 20 min in that interview and then suddenly the body language was a total giveaway that he was a cokehead.
MotherTouching-Ninjas Dude I am a big Jon Jones fan. Not hating on him just stating facts. Throughout the interview they discuss how good he would be if he gave up on alcohol and weed. Coke is illegal so he is hiding that part.
Okay, and I guess you hang out with Jones. You're not his friend or family so how would you know what he does.
Man it's like an open secret.
+Ryan Tran He beat Gustafson, and then beat the guy who beat Gustafson afterwords. I think it's safe to say he's the better fighter.
+Anthony Bagrier I'm Swedish and I don't think Gustafson won that fight, it was close but a fair decision. Jones just has so many haters that wanted nothing more then to see him lose, so they felt robbed for that reason.
+Anthony Bagrier Gustaffson won 1 and 3, jones won 2 4 and 5. deal with it.
It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, the only decision that matters is the judges. Ultimately it's their decision that matters
Somebody should interview his victim...I'd like to hear about what she went through.
+John Walsh Me too. So sad what has happened to her having to go through that
You won't he paid her off
she's dead
No,he would have went away for that . this is pretty common thing for celebrities and athletes.

Yeah, great role model for those young kids.
+Wezzuk1 how do you put it nicely , best way is to put it some what cool to get there atenttion
+Wezzuk1 Yeah he's got a real way with words lol
Coming from someone who has also hit rock bottom, I respect this man immensely. He's got the right mentality now. Failure is beautiful, its all about learning from you're mistakes and I feel he's done so. Haters gonna hate but you can't dispute what a true champion he is. He's focused and ready to rise from the ashes and reclaim victory. RESPECT.

I just watched this again:
1) The editing, in the beginning when he's talking to the kids, makes him seem like he's skirting the issue.

Interviewer on point with the questions
Jon Jones is actually a more decent and intelligent person than I realized.
Some of the questions Ariel asked were totally useless and stupid also. Jon Jones wasn't telling the kids not to be like him as far as his success, he was telling them not to be like him as far as making a decision that can squander all your hard work (which Jones has made a few), as you get used to how good things are you stop appreciating them and may make a bad decision and then only afterwards realize how much you squandered in retrospect.

What an amazing interview, I see Jon Jones in a completely different view now.
the greatest of all time. Jon bones Jones
Great interview props to the camera man for walking backwards for like miles
Great guy ! he is calm and shows really what a great champion is. People are happy he is in trouble now but they won't never reach his level. And I hope he comes back even stronger. He has plenty options in front of him. Jon enjoy the time with those who love you.

not really. lying isnt taking account. ie the 1 off aspect to his coke taking is a blatent lie, and he only seems sorry about being caught, and how things effect him, rather than them 'victims'.
+rahowhero how do you know fuck boy
Jon Jones is a great fighter but seriously he needs to move on from 205. He is always fighting guys over 10cm shorter than him (lets not talk about the reach advantage). On fight day he weighs way more than his opponents, so in reality this "skinny bones guy" is actually a big guy fighting small men. If he wants to be the GOAT he needs to move to 225 bracket.
Move on to heavyweight I mean.
Dana is a snake in the grass
I'll finish this breakdown at a later date.
well done mate.. thank you..
How much later were you planning on breaking this down? Over 2 years?
Regardless of what you think about what Jon has done... It was very classy of Ronda Rousey to reach out to Jon and offer kind words and support.

"Fuck these kids, I could give two shits about them!"

+John Wilson HOW. He last fought a year ago, beating the current "champion", and yet somehow he is ranked fourth? Those rankings make no sense. LITERALLY, he defended his title more recently than Aldo did, so that argument means literally nothing.
+ZPSBestProfileName completely agree
+walliali202 LOL Artem is a badass
Whats wrong with saying he is a "marihuana addict"? Arent you addicted to something from the moment you NEED it and feel like you cant live with it? Why addiction has to be only about hard drugs? Someone please explain me.
no an addiction has physical withdrawal symptoms, severe ones. habits (like weed) do not, they have mental withdrawal symptoms. some drugs are addictive and habitual, like cigarettes. both addiction and habits release endorphins into brain and are similar in effect, but arent the same thing, many habits have no consumption element at all, and are much harder to quit than addictive substances, for eg ocd. so they are related, overlap and have similar effects, but the brain process is very different in regards to process and quitting.
rahowhero Oh, so its more about a physical effect? i thought it was straight mental, the feeling of addiction and wanting it over and over again.
+MAKEUPOVERBROS yes, physical pain as compered to mere cravings is a good indicater.
+rahowhero i feel as if you can get addicted to marijuana in a mental sense and not being able to go a day without using, i know too many people like that
Great interview as always, Mermaid! Keep it up!
