Everyone...Cheryl knows what she’s doing. Her recipes are often simple comfort food but she seasons her food well! Always the sign of a person who appreciates the good stuff in life (the seasoning)
Wow, this is almost exactly the recipe my family has always used - three generations now. I even use the same brand pasta. I've never made it in a slow cooker but just may try that now. Only difference in the recipe is once in a while we will crumble in Italian sausage as well. This lasagne is actually a Christmas Eve tradition for us - and we're not Italian, we're Irish. But, my grandmother 's best friend was Italian and she learned from her. Thanks for the new idea!
I moved to Ireland this year from sunny south Africa. A slow cooker just wasn't a kitchen gadget that I needed or used. Mostly because these hearty meals were not something we really wanted in the warmer weather. When we moved to Ireland my sister law gifted me one. And I have loved using it. I'm so glad to have found this recipe. I will definitely give it a try.
Where you put the fresh basil, my Mum used to put a layer of fresh spinach to completely cover the layer it was on. By the time it's done - the spinach is completely wilted and the flavour meshes right in with the rest. Super yum!
I've always loved lasagne made with green pasta (which have spinach built in), so that makes a lot of sense to me. Apparently, this kind of lasagne is popular in Bologna, so I guess it goes well with the layers of Bolognese sauce :)
Cheryl, I don't know if you have ever heard of slow cooker liners, but they are a lifesaver!! I started using them last year and you will not have as much clean up. They're wonderful!! I am definitely trying this! Yum 🤗
I'm drooling thinking about making this! Yummmm, and so easy! If you brown it up in the oven after though, will it stick to the sides more? I imagine it will just be the top, maybe you could use one of those creme brule gas torches to crisp up the top layer?
That lasagna looks amazing! I think this would be perfect for a smaller family too. I always have so much left over when I make a lasagna. I end up having to share with neighbors or freezing the leftovers. Which isn't a bad thing, but sometimes I just don't have the space in my freezer.
Update: This has become the standard for lasagna in the home. It feeds a ton of company, the kids love it and I end up with more of that caramelized/chared bits that are my favorite. Tha k you so much for sharing the technique
I'm going to need to get a slow cooker it looks easy, that's a few things I've seen cooked in the slow cooker now, the food reminds me of my mum's cooking which is always the best...🤩👍
That looks so D'lish! I do love lasagna. I'll make a pan and eat the leftovers all week. I normally do not like leftovers, but there are a few things that are just too darn good! I've not seen you make an truly American classic; chicken and dumplings. Your family may like it. I made some on Friday night, for the first time. I must say it turned out fabulous! O, I made it in the slow cooker.
Lasagna noodles (flat and wavy) are so readily available in grocery stores here in Canada that I never considered that they were harder to find in other countries. I was surprised that you had to buy your noodles online. 😮
Thanks for great tea ideas Cheryl, i have done quite a few, so much so that anything I plate up for my hubby he hasn't had before he will ask "is this one of Cheryl's", tee hee
They sell 'ready bake' pasta, I think it is par boiled. Looks the same as pasta you boil in water, but I think it is made for crock pots and applications like this, where you bake your pasta, with out boiling it first.
Bet it was not just you and Mr What's For Tea that night! Bet your girls would change their plans to be there! Quite the most delicious dish I have seen on your channel, Cheryl. You can buy Cecco pasta in Sainsbury's.
Looks fantastic, and now I want to make my slow cooker lasagna. For my white sauce level I mix ricotta with cottage cheese, no egg added to it. The parmesan is mixed in with the mozzarella. I've tried the egg mix one but family is picky and found it too dry. Even if I had enjoyed it. lol
Greetings from the US! I've just discovered the channel a few hours ago, and everything looks so tasty. I'm enjoying sorting through the videos, looking for some of the treats I had while visiting Edinburgh something-something years ago (1983 I think). I'll be trying several of the recipes to help alleviate the lockdown boredom. Keep up the great work! (^_^)/
It looks absolutely delicious BUT... we are just 2 puir wee souls all on our lonesome and it would feed us for a week. Any chance you could freeze this for use maybe next week? I'm always a bit scared of freezing pasta dishes?? Or maybe could I use half the recipe in a smaller dish within the crock pot itself? Would that work?
Hi Cheryl. Love the lasagne recipe for the slow cooker. Could you let me know how much the recipe costs per person to make? There are a lot of ingredients. Thanks.
Perhaps look for lasagnetta, smaller ridged pieces you can use as a layer to cover any size. Yes if using dried lasagne sheets they often crack in places you don't want them too, so could also try fresh lasagne or blanch the dried first ;)

Looks lovely. My sister in law adds baked beans to her lasagne and it is so good with the baked beans
I have yet to use my crockpot since moving, your lasagna would be a great christening meal to get me going. Thanks Cheryl.
I can't wait to make this next weekend. In the US we are fortunate enough to find the wavy lasagne noodles in the dollar shops. Thanks Cheryl!
Oh yum !!! I love lasagna. I'm always amazed that the pasta sheets actually get cooked. tfs 🎃🍃🍂🍁🌵🍃🍂🍁🍃🍂🍁🍃🍂🍁🌞🎃🍃🍂🍁🌵🍃🍂🍁🍃🍂🍁🍃🍂🍁🌞
Oh Cheryl! My mouth is watering and I can almost (almost!) smell it. :)
Yum! Looks absolutely delicious! I usually add frozen spinach to my ricotta layer. Haven’t made lasagne in ages....might just have to give it a go!
This is magical! I had no idea this could be done🌟
That looks delicious. I don't think I've ever seen lasagna done in the crock pot that set up so well and was able to be sliced like that! Awesome.
Defo gonna try this. Me, the husband and the kids who are fussy love the sausage casserole u shown so its a regular meal with us 🙂

I'm drooling thinking about making this! Yummmm, and so easy!

I love your recipes and thank you for the fabulous landscapes!
What a brilliant idea.... looks fabulous
That lasagna looks amazing! I think this would be perfect for a smaller family too. I always have so much left over when I make a lasagna. I end up having to share with neighbors or freezing the leftovers. Which isn't a bad thing, but sometimes I just don't have the space in my freezer.
The easy solution for that is to buy a cheap used freezer! Then you will have enough room.
I've made a very similar recipe that uses ziti pasta and it turned out wonderful too. I might have try this!
I've done this in the past but after seeing this I'm going to do it again x
Thank you for posting this video, the meal looked great!
I'm going to make this on Christmas Eve! I might have to make it to try it before... quality control you know 😆
