-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... Кино
Have been wanting to hit this for a while!! Was awesome, where do we go from here?! Cheers! 🙌🏻🔥
This is a GREAT song. :)
Alan Parsons project was real introspective lyrics another hit for them was called " Time" it's not party Time music at all.... They're pretty introspective. ⭐🎶
Back to Tales of Mystery and Imagination: Edgar Allen Poe. Do The Raven.
PS I was hittin it while listening 🤣
Time, Turn of a Friendly Card, Never Wanna Be Like You
Prime Time, Breakdown, Time, Old and Wise, lots of stuff to discover. More cerebral and melodic than bangers but still great songs to experience.
“I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You” “I Robot” “Games People Play”
Excellent choices!
Seconding "Games People Play"!
I Robot leads into Be Like You the same way Sirius leads into Eye
Yes! I posted the same 3.
Dr Tar and Professor Feather. Don't Let It Show. Pyromania. They have tons of really good songs..They should do "TellTaleHeart" and " The Raven" for Halloween. They have a whole album based on Edgar Allen Poe's stories, and it is great.
"Very Pink Floydy" Not a surprise since Alan Parsons was the sound engineer for Dark Side if the Moon. He won a grammy for that...
Yup yup iambob Woodstock 2021
I saw an interview with Parsons where he said that when they set out to do the album they wanted to do a "second Dark Side of the Moon".
Along with Abbey Road and Let it Be by the Beatles. This guy has quite a resumé.
no. he did not. nominated. did not win.
Oh wow thanks for stating the fact they also stated less than 1 minute into the video. Found the guy who skipped right to the music👆
This is one of those songs that is as close to perfect as can be. Everything in its place, nothing over played, mixed sublimely....Parsons is a genius.
"Don't Answer Me" still makes me teary
Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, Chris Rea, and this, all masterpiece
I've been listening to APP for over 40 years, and I still keep hearing new things in their music.
It's really difficult to pick out a single song for review in a forum like this as, IMHO his material is best viewed as an entire album - it all comes together as a cohesive whole {Turn of a Friendly Card, Eve, I Robot, Pyramid}.
Also a bit of ELO thrown in
I can’t hear that intro without hearing:
Introducing, at 6’6, from North Carolina, Michael Jordan.
AAAAAAAAAND NOW!
Adam Place Your World Champion Chicago Bulls...
"The sun in your eyes makes some of your lies worth believing" is one of my favorite lines ever.
Describing dealing with a class A Narcassist
Illuminati...i can cheat u blind and they do
Maker of rules dealing with fools
"I Wouldn't Want to be Like You" is the Alan Parsons Project song. It has great guitar work.
I just checked and I have 18 "liked" APP songs, in my Spotify library, and "Eye in the Sky" isn't one of them.
Definitely, and the vocals are awesome
@@gbcrowne271 Almost any of their songs with Lenny Zakatek on vocals are great.
Eric Wincentsen very true
Underrated Guitar Work
“I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You”, banger for sure.
Definitely! One of my favorite songs by any artist.
ZZBlue Comet , I don’t think they would classify it as a banger because that means a heavier type song. Great song? Yes, but a “banger” no. It’s like calling Pink Floyd headbanger. That’s what banger means. Plenty of hard bands can’t hold a candle to PINK FLOYD. It’s a categorization not just it’s a good song.
Alan Parsons entire discography is immaculately thought out and presented. I honestly feel you cant go wrong with any sampling of his works but every song in The Definitive Collection album is magnificent.
“The sun in your eyes, made some of the lies worth believing”....
That's the raw truth. Sometimes it's worth all the danger.
Ouch. That line takes me back. I wanted to believe her lies so much because I knew the probable truth would devastate me.. Of course, it did eventually.
Hey, good song though, right?! :)
Martin Brody well, we all know, love can be deaf, dumb and blind.....
@@TheRowlandstone73 On behalf of all women everywhere...I’m sorry. 🤷🏼♀️
My top choices, "Games people Play", "Time", "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You", but my personal favorite from Alan Parson's Project is "Don't answer me" for it's nostalgic feel.
Agreed. Don’t Answer Me is great. For a pure instrumental... Luciferama.
Interesting video too.
This
Also Old and Wise is brilliant
I too love "Don't Answer Me."
“I wouldn’t want to be like you,” released in 1977, is the one you have to do. Driving, catchy, and GREAT vocals.
I robot too
...Some Other Time' is my favorite from that album.
You can never just do it alone. It has to be paired along with I Robot.
@@robertgarrison5478 The whole I Robot album is brilliant
Yesss!
The 1990s Chicago Bulls' theme song is actually called "Sirius" and segues into "Eye in the Sky", the title track from their 1982 album. You should also check out the instrumental "Lucifer", from their 1979 album *Eve* (fun fact: that album's theme is women, and late singer Eric Woolfson's (1945-2009) mother in law at the time is named Eve); "Prime Time" and "Don't Answer Me", both from the Alan Parsons Project's 1984 album *Ammonia Avenue*; "Time" (which was both my mother's favorite song and the theme of my high school senior class yearbook) from 1980's *Turn of a Friendly Card*, an album about gambling; and the instrumental "Mammagamma" a great road trip song from the album *Eye in the Sky*. Hope I didn't ramble too long and bore anyone.
You listen to Alan Parsons Project and it’s very clear he was an engineer for both Pink Floyd and the Beatles (his first professional engineering credit was working on “Abbey Road”), as his music brings all the polish and sensibilities of the best of both groups.
Very cool information thanks
Alan Parsons Project - Time
"Time" by them is one of the best songs ever, love the lyrics.
Agreed! live in columbia version
"I Robot" is a full album play. Powerful album.
“Psychobabble” is a great deep cut. Also highly recommend “I Robot”, “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You”, “Breakdown”, “The Telltale Heart”, and “Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather”.
Doctor Tarr is a great tune. That whole album is essential listening. John Miles on vocals. Another someone for anyone to check out.
Seconds on Dr. Tarr.
Yes
Great choices all.
Can a song like “Psychobabble” be considered a deep cut if it’s on the band’s Greatest Hits collection? I mean, it’s not like they play it on the oldies or classic rock stations like the other tracks, but it’s still there.
"Time" by them is slower, but beautiful.
“Don’t Let It Show” “Wouldn’t Want to be Like You”. Bestest!
The beginning is what Jordan's Bulls used for player introductions.
I cannot hear “Sirius” without hearing an overlay of “From the University of North Carolina…..” 😛😛
Oh, sure enough! So cool to realize this! Thanks. Loved MJ and the Bulls.
Alan Parson's Project, "I, Robot," GREAT album.
I Robot is a must...also check out Dr Tar and Professor Feather from earlier.
Yes that is a great album, but I like "Tales of Mystery and Imagination " better. Of the 12 APP albums, I have four of them.
1. Tales of Mystery and Imagination (On Vinyl
2. I Robot (On Vinyl)
3. Pyramid (On Vinyl)
4. Ammonia Avenue (On Cassette Tape)
Yeah hasn't that got wouldn't want to be like you on it? Love that song
Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac. Early Fleetwood Mac
Mystery to me is a cool album
@music-two-my-ears Ya if they want a lost in the sauce song Hypnotized will do it
As someone who grew up watching that '90s era Bulls team as a kid in Chicago....this shit makes my heart flutter.
"I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" is my favorite.
Time, Games People Play, Wouldn’t Want to be Like You. All amazing songs.
"Time" and "Games People Play" are pretty good also.
Time is one of the most beautiful songs released in the last 40 years.
I love “Time”. Another great later song by them is “Don’t Answer Me”.
Time.... beautiful song!
those are great songs.
The entire "Eye in the Sky" album is fantastic. Sirius, Eye in the Sky, Psychobabble, Old and Wise, Mammagamma, ... The whole thing could be a greatest hits collection.
The timeless Alan Parsons Project IS musical perfection! Like BUTTAH!
Next AP song, I Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You.
TRUTH!!!
Anything off I Robot ... I like " Some Other Time " .
I Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You will funk... you up!
Not a bad track on that album.
Essene Gnostic Excellent song too!
Yay! They’re playing the Sirius intro. A natural follow after Eminence Front.
Yes, and both of those intros get used a lot for stuff like commercials, bumpers for TV news and sports, and walk on music. They came out the same year too.
Lucie Melahn This one makes me nostalgic of my youth, but you’re right, they were used for things a lot. These two and Right Now by Van Halen.
Cobra Kai streaming series includes some great vintage tracks including Sirius, at a pinnacle moment in the narrative too.
“Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You “ “Games People Play “
Look at the games being played with us today,
I don't see enough people recommending "I, Robot"
“Games people play” has some awesome sauce to it.
Games people Play by The Spinners maybe!
radar0412
Entitled to your opinion of course. What’s your recommendation?
@@lets3627 I'm just messing. I didn't realize Alan Parsons and The Spinners both had songs with a similar name. Because the Boy's like a good guitar, "I wouldn't want to be like you" would be the Obvious call here. Not to say you made a bad recommendation. Cheers.
radar0412
All good radar, I wasn’t offended. Appreciate the follow up though. Good to see young 20-somethings listening to stuff I heard on FM radio in Chicago growing up. Especially, Allan P...watched the Bulls use this sound for a decade. Peace!
Throw dem off
Love this song
I Wouldn’t Want to be Like You
Don’t Answer Me
Games People Play
The entire side B of the turn of a friendly card album is majestic, this is a very well crafted and beautiful music
Him being the sound engineer for Dark Side of the Moon was the reason I started buying his albums the music kept me a fan. And yes, I Wouldn't Wanna Be Like You, Games People Play and I really liked Psychobabble...it was smart 80's music very much like The Police to me.
you need to listten to Allan Parson's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" a whole concept album totally different than this or I robot. Based on Edgar Allen Poes " The Tell Tale Heart" "The Cask of Amontilado" and others by Poe! Trippy, proggy, orchesteral with great vocals. You'd dig it! BTW Pasrsons was a Jr. engineer on Abby Road by the Fab Four!
Yeah if you are looking for a whole album to review, this would be a great choice
1st side is killer
This. So much this.
Absolutely!! Maybe my favorite..
Best one!!!!
I, Robot is a desert island record. Check out the entire record.
I would also bring Alan Parsons to the desert island but it would be The Turn Of A Friendly Card. I like I, Robot a lot too.
@@neonpark1874 100% back up ToaFC. I Robot has higher highs, but the second half of the album is definitely weaker. Here I thought I was one of the 6 people who still listened to APP!
I had the 8 track of I Robot.
Same here. I actually have trouble naming the songs on "I, Robot" because I only ever listen to the album all the way through."
I Robot is a "CLASSIC!". So underrated. If they want to hear how Pink Floyd was influenced, they need to check this out.
I still remember my mother buying this album when it came out. We had just gone to see King Tut exhibit at a Toronto museum and album cover reminds me of that day. It is still one of my favourite albums. Every song is amazing.
great choice, an album in my extensive collection. "I Wouldn't Want to be like you" is definitely the next best choice to listen to
"Time" was my high school senior class song in 1983. Very fitting.
Yes! Not to mention the ULTIMATE slow dance ballad at HS dances in the early 80's. Guaranteed to make a teenage lady melt in your arms on the dance floor. 😉
I tried to convince my senior class of the relevance of that song but they went with Asia Only Time Will Tell, which lyrically had nothing to do with saying goodbye like a class says goodbye.
@@metalmark65the class one year before mine had "Only Time Will Tell" as their class song.
My class of 1982 did as well.
Great reaction! "Games People Play" is an awesome song by this band.
This came out in my freshman year of University (1982). A lovely young woman, whose name and face I remember to this day, absolutely loved this album. 40 years ago. Damn.
Really enjoyed your take on this song- it’s a favorite of mine that I don’t feel many appreciate as much as it deserves.
Love, Love, LOVE Alan Parsons Project!🥰 Welcome to a whole other rabbit hole!
“Time” and “Games People Play”. Also, “Turn of a Friendly Card.” In terms of production style, “Time” is probably the most Floyd-esque but it’s still different enough to be its own song.
@Kent Zepick When I was young, "Time", was an emotional song, but now that I'm (much) older it's _REALLY_ emotional for me.
"Turn of a Friendly Card" is my favourite album. The title medley, all 16 minutes of it, blows me away.
Its LITERALLY one of favorite songs thats ever been made!!!
Sooo gorgeous.
So true.
So wise.
So hypnotic.
Alan Parsons was also an engineer on Abbey Road!
Are you serious?
Yup.
Lucie Melahn He was not the lead, or head, engineer. That was Geoff Emerick. But Parsons definitely worked on that album.
His first professional credit at age 18.
@@joannwoodworth8920 Thanks! I know Emerick's name, never knew that about Parsons. What a resume builder.
Oh boy! You guys bring me back... I was singing in a band in 81-82 and we were doing some Alan Parson, this one and my favorite “Games people play”. Loved it. 🤗
The sun in your eyes made some of the lies worth believing.
That line gets me every time
"Games People Play" is one of my favs of all time!! ♥ You will love a lot of APP stuff. I promise ♥
Check out “Old and Wise”... The studio version. There is a live version with a symphony but not as haunting as the studio version.
Wife loves that song...makes her wanna cuddle
Brilliant lyrics, and a fantastic sax solo.
Definitely. The studio version has Mel Collins on saxophone, and it's one of my favorite sax solos of all time - right up there with Foreigner's "Urgent", which these guys need to listen to.
@@ericwincentsen587 If you're looking for more great sax solos, check out 'Tears For Fears - The Working Hour', 'Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland (live in NYC 2000)', and 'Eurythmics - Thorn In My Side' (the live version from the Live 1983-1989 album).
@@Pulsar77 I love Clarence Clemons's solo on the studio version as well. Not a solo, but a great sax hook, is "Lucky Seven" off of Chris Squire's solo album. Also Mel Collins, if I remember correctly.
You must do their song, "The Raven". Its an ode to Edgar Alan Poe's classic poem.
GREAT album
Well... the album was titled "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", it's ALL Poe inspired.
"I Robot" was one of my favorite albums in high school. Every song is well done. This album is from 1982. They had changed a bit from I Robot in 1977.
Alan Parsons engineered The Dark Side Of The Moon. ..."Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many sonic aspects."
Welcome to Alan Parsons.
Please god tell me they include the intro Sirius
Except for the chord changes, tempo, lyrics, instrumentation and vocals they're exactly the same. Good call.
It’s “Prime Time”you guys played Alan Parsons Project. Nice pick.😎
"Tales of Mystery and Imagination". My favorite Alan Parsons album, also my introduction to them. It is an amazing concept album that is based on the poetry of Edgar Alan Poe. After I heard it; I was hooked on their music. They were pretty prolific for a while.
Agreed! Poe was one of my fave authors, This was the perfect marriage of two genres of art. "The Raven" is my fave cut off of that album.
From your pinned comment, "where do we go from here" - clearly, you need to go to Games People Play, since you just cribbed lyrics from that song. :)
Alex must have a lovely grandma who gives good hugs.
Congrats on 80K subscribers! The two of you have come a long way in such a short time. Love your positivity and enthusiasm. You both have a level of maturity and awareness that is not normally seen in guys your age. Keep on rockin and rollin!
"Games People Play". A treat to the ears. Nothing else like it ever, IMHO.
"A Dream Within A Dream" / "The Raven" from their debut album TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION (1976). The entire album is a concept piece based on the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe.
You should check out the "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" album. Based on Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven is a classic.
YES!! Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether!!
Absolutely
My English gets better just listening to you two speak.
Takes me back....back to the golden age.
Alan Parsons...Hit something off Tales of Mystery and Imagination! Such a great album. Songs like The Raven or The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather.
I so love how you two break down lyrics as well as the melody. This wasn’t my favorite choice when I saw it on the feed but because I trust your opinions I listened. You continually deliver introspective thought to each and every song.
this song has SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!....INTERESTING ARRANGEMENTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see the great man in concert .. glad I checked in.. good stuff.. cheers.
Games People Play is a great choice. The interlude in the middle is so unique and the guitar solo is very tasteful
One of my favorite songs of this era.
The late 70s and early 80s had a lot of just “pretty songs.” Alex’s description was great. Christopher Cross has a few songs that were pretty and comforting. “Sailing”
"Games people play" or "Wouldn't want to be like you" next by Alan Parsons
Wanting something heavier from APP, you're wanting "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" and "Games People Play". Two rather well known instrumentals are "Lucifer" and "Mammagamma". Lastly, a slower but a great retro "wall of sound" production with "Don't Answer Me".
“(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather” is a must. Don’t sleep on “Breakdown” either. So many great tracks 😎
(The System Of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather is my favorite song from that album. Followed by The Raven.
Love the Raven, but actually Fall of the House of Usher is my favorite there. But the whole album is awesome. Just like ALL of their other albums from the 70s.
Alan Parsons was involved in the recording of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
Oh, and did I say TIME!!!!! Ya gotta do it!!!!!! Can bring a grown man to tears!!!
Played in a cover band back in the 80s-90s. "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" was one we used as a set opener and it was awesome. Listen to it and picture yourself as the guy running the light board and you'll see why it was a good opener. The bass line is great and would get the audience moving for the rest of the set.
Holy shit. I had no idea this song had that intro.
The intro (titled “Sirius”) was the song used by the Chicago Bulls when announcing the starting line-up in the 80’s and 90’s (Jordan era).
The first part is called Sirius and it was used at a lot of sporting events as intro music for teams. You can't play Eye In The Sky without it, it's illegal in many states to do so.
"Very comforting." "It felt like a hug from your grandma." Love this reaction.
Yes, he engineered Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" as well as he assisted on the Beatles "Abby Road" album.
My first year in college. This was extremely popular (I grew up in the Netherlands), and new for all of us who were too young for Pink Floyd. I would say this fitted in with the ELO and Supertramp style, symphonic rock etc.
Just discovered this album 4 days ago... so weird and wonderful to see this posted today! Love your channel!
Wouldn’t want to be like you and games people play 😀rock on A&A
This was the background music for me while growing up. It didn't enthuse me enough to buy it and listen to it over and over. But I didn't mind listening to it when friends played it or when it came on the radio. It could stem from my state of mind at that time. I need to study the lyrics now that I'm an adult. I prefer Supertramp.
Prime Time! From a fan since the beginning.
Guys I was 18 yrs old in 82. This song mesmerized me then...and today at 56...Nothing has changed!!! And Yes, APP is a Very Spiritual Band. Their logos and artwork speaks volumes.
"Silence and I" from the same album (I think) is the most underrated Alan Parsons Project song. It's a gem!
'Games People Play' is the obvious next choice from APP. More upbeat from this one & 2 epic solos. Easy S tier from both of u.
"I wouldn't want to be like you" is a good one from APP. Also "Damned if I Do'
Days Are Numbers. Awesome song. Saw Alan Parsons at Ruth Eckerd last year. Incredible show.
One of the best producers in the industries! He produced Al Stewart’s Year of The Cat album which was Grammy award winning! You absolutely need to play that whole album and some from Time Passages! A masterful songwriter!!
Can’t wait for the to try Year of the Cat....love On the Border and Lord Grenville.....
U guys needs to listen to Supertramp Crime of the century (the album)
I hope that heart means something cause IM WAITING
What you are hearing is a MASTERPIECE of MUSIC !!!
