Alan Parsons project was real introspective lyrics another hit for them was called " Time" it's not party Time music at all.... They're pretty introspective. ⭐🎶
Dr Tar and Professor Feather. Don't Let It Show. Pyromania. They have tons of really good songs..They should do "TellTaleHeart" and " The Raven" for Halloween. They have a whole album based on Edgar Allen Poe's stories, and it is great.
This is one of those songs that is as close to perfect as can be. Everything in its place, nothing over played, mixed sublimely....Parsons is a genius.
It's really difficult to pick out a single song for review in a forum like this as, IMHO his material is best viewed as an entire album - it all comes together as a cohesive whole {Turn of a Friendly Card, Eve, I Robot, Pyramid}.
The first part is called Sirius and it was used at a lot of sporting events as intro music for teams. You can't play Eye In The Sky without it, it's illegal in many states to do so.
Alan Parsons entire discography is immaculately thought out and presented. I honestly feel you cant go wrong with any sampling of his works but every song in The Definitive Collection album is magnificent.
“Psychobabble” is a great deep cut. Also highly recommend “I Robot”, “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You”, “Breakdown”, “The Telltale Heart”, and “Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather”.
Can a song like “Psychobabble” be considered a deep cut if it’s on the band’s Greatest Hits collection? I mean, it’s not like they play it on the oldies or classic rock stations like the other tracks, but it’s still there.
ZZBlue Comet , I don’t think they would classify it as a banger because that means a heavier type song. Great song? Yes, but a “banger” no. It’s like calling Pink Floyd headbanger. That’s what banger means. Plenty of hard bands can’t hold a candle to PINK FLOYD. It’s a categorization not just it’s a good song.
My top choices, "Games people Play", "Time", "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You", but my personal favorite from Alan Parson's Project is "Don't answer me" for it's nostalgic feel.
Ouch. That line takes me back. I wanted to believe her lies so much because I knew the probable truth would devastate me.. Of course, it did eventually. Hey, good song though, right?! :)
You listen to Alan Parsons Project and it’s very clear he was an engineer for both Pink Floyd and the Beatles (his first professional engineering credit was working on “Abbey Road”), as his music brings all the polish and sensibilities of the best of both groups.
The 1990s Chicago Bulls' theme song is actually called "Sirius" and segues into "Eye in the Sky", the title track from their 1982 album. You should also check out the instrumental "Lucifer", from their 1979 album *Eve* (fun fact: that album's theme is women, and late singer Eric Woolfson's (1945-2009) mother in law at the time is named Eve); "Prime Time" and "Don't Answer Me", both from the Alan Parsons Project's 1984 album *Ammonia Avenue*; "Time" (which was both my mother's favorite song and the theme of my high school senior class yearbook) from 1980's *Turn of a Friendly Card*, an album about gambling; and the instrumental "Mammagamma" a great road trip song from the album *Eye in the Sky*. Hope I didn't ramble too long and bore anyone.
Yes that is a great album, but I like "Tales of Mystery and Imagination " better. Of the 12 APP albums, I have four of them. 1. Tales of Mystery and Imagination (On Vinyl 2. I Robot (On Vinyl) 3. Pyramid (On Vinyl) 4. Ammonia Avenue (On Cassette Tape)
you need to listten to Allan Parson's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" a whole concept album totally different than this or I robot. Based on Edgar Allen Poes " The Tell Tale Heart" "The Cask of Amontilado" and others by Poe! Trippy, proggy, orchesteral with great vocals. You'd dig it! BTW Pasrsons was a Jr. engineer on Abby Road by the Fab Four!
This came out in my freshman year of University (1982). A lovely young woman, whose name and face I remember to this day, absolutely loved this album. 40 years ago. Damn.

Oh boy! You guys bring me back... I was singing in a band in 81-82 and we were doing some Alan Parson, this one and my favorite “Games people play”. Loved it. 🤗
I still remember my mother buying this album when it came out. We had just gone to see King Tut exhibit at a Toronto museum and album cover reminds me of that day. It is still one of my favourite albums. Every song is amazing.

Definitely. The studio version has Mel Collins on saxophone, and it's one of my favorite sax solos of all time - right up there with Foreigner's "Urgent", which these guys need to listen to.
@@ericwincentsen587 If you're looking for more great sax solos, check out 'Tears For Fears - The Working Hour', 'Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland (live in NYC 2000)', and 'Eurythmics - Thorn In My Side' (the live version from the Live 1983-1989 album).

Great reaction guys. Was just listening to some APP last week, revisiting some favorites after hearing about the recent passing of APP guitar player, Ian Bairnson. So many amazing musicians within "The Project" on the studio albums and was lucky enough to see them live a number of times over the years. Such a great, deep rabbit hole the APP catalogue.
Alan Parsons...Hit something off Tales of Mystery and Imagination! Such a great album. Songs like The Raven or The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather.

Played in a cover band back in the 80s-90s. "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" was one we used as a set opener and it was awesome. Listen to it and picture yourself as the guy running the light board and you'll see why it was a good opener. The bass line is great and would get the audience moving for the rest of the set.
"A Dream Within A Dream" / "The Raven" from their debut album TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION (1976). The entire album is a concept piece based on the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe.
The entire "Eye in the Sky" album is fantastic. Sirius, Eye in the Sky, Psychobabble, Old and Wise, Mammagamma, ... The whole thing could be a greatest hits collection.
Wanting something heavier from APP, you're wanting "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" and "Games People Play". Two rather well known instrumentals are "Lucifer" and "Mammagamma". Lastly, a slower but a great retro "wall of sound" production with "Don't Answer Me".

OK, NOW YOU HAVE TO DO...... THE RAVEN. (Sorry for shouting).... From their first album. It is also a bit of history. The first song on record to feature a digital vocoder. OR, "I Robot", "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You".
Time to give The Guess Who a listen. I think you guys would appreciate "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" for the way two songs are seamlessly woven together (plus it rocks), but they have a lot of good music to choose from, and Burton Cummings can sing his a$s off.
"Tales of Mystery and Imagination". My favorite Alan Parsons album, also my introduction to them. It is an amazing concept album that is based on the poetry of Edgar Alan Poe. After I heard it; I was hooked on their music. They were pretty prolific for a while.
This was the background music for me while growing up. It didn't enthuse me enough to buy it and listen to it over and over. But I didn't mind listening to it when friends played it or when it came on the radio. It could stem from my state of mind at that time. I need to study the lyrics now that I'm an adult. I prefer Supertramp.
Love the Raven, but actually Fall of the House of Usher is my favorite there. But the whole album is awesome. Just like ALL of their other albums from the 70s.
drumming on this song is perfection...subtle little snare rolls and hi hat lifts that made the groove. Gary Wright Dream Weaver...entire LP is excellent!
Tales Of Mystery And Imagination is simply one of the best albums ever produced anytime ... anywhere. Eric Wolfson may have been the best lyricist in the business.
My first year in college. This was extremely popular (I grew up in the Netherlands), and new for all of us who were too young for Pink Floyd. I would say this fitted in with the ELO and Supertramp style, symphonic rock etc.
I’m glad you honed in on the same lyric I did. I have a book where I write down lyrics I like, and “the sun your eyes makes some of the lies worth believing” definitely made the list. Great song. Enjoyed your reaction.

“Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You “ “Games People Play “
Look at the games being played with us today,
I first heard this on the classic Art Bell radio show “ coast to coast”.
The timeless Alan Parsons Project IS musical perfection! Like BUTTAH!
One of my favorite songs of this era.
Prime Time! From a fan since the beginning.
"Silence and I" from the same album (I think) is the most underrated Alan Parsons Project song. It's a gem!
Agreed! Poe was one of my fave authors, This was the perfect marriage of two genres of art. "The Raven" is my fave cut off of that album.
"I Robot" was one of my favorite albums in high school. Every song is well done. This album is from 1982. They had changed a bit from I Robot in 1977.
“(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather” is a must. Don’t sleep on “Breakdown” either. So many great tracks 😎
(The System Of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather is my favorite song from that album. Followed by The Raven.
The System of Dr Tarr and Professor Fether
@@jimmyfortrue3741 You know why that was written ?
@@essenegnostic8711 I actually don't know why that song was written.
steady on, don't get carried away, I think Bernie Taupin may have a shout in that race???
@@scifimonkey3 Reality check !! Bernie Taupin !! ROTFLMFAO !!
My first year in college. This was extremely popular (I grew up in the Netherlands), and new for all of us who were too young for Pink Floyd. I would say this fitted in with the ELO and Supertramp style, symphonic rock etc.
From your pinned comment, "where do we go from here" - clearly, you need to go to Games People Play, since you just cribbed lyrics from that song. :)
Truly magical right?! The best music for relaxing, meditation etc...... I really love the song "Time" beyond beautiful!
Welcome to Alan Parsons.
I was first introduced to Alan Parson's Project, I Robot album. I was blown away! Please explore a bit more, you won't be disappointed!
You should react to Old and Wise by Alan Parsons Project! Its one of my favourite songs by them.
YES PLEASE
I’m glad you honed in on the same lyric I did. I have a book where I write down lyrics I like, and “the sun your eyes makes some of the lies worth believing” definitely made the list. Great song. Enjoyed your reaction.
Ok selection..."Wouldnt wanna be like you" much better by Alan Parsons..its a BANGER
Absolutely!
Alan Parsons was involved in the recording of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
Yes, he engineered Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" as well as he assisted on the Beatles "Abby Road" album.
